Unfortunately, for an RPG like this, different input can affect the RNG, changing up battles and even loading time lengths (what people mean when they say "9 frames lost to RNG"). Desyncs can be very unforgiving in this kind of game.

Sorry for double posting, but are there any chapter flags that can be triggered remotely with some action? The only thing I can think of right now is that journal from chapter 6 where you're supposed to return to the ghost, but I'm not even sure if it's possible to smuggle it out, nor would it set the chapter 6 flag at all.

The TAS desynced because I loaded a savestate I made before changing some stuff in the .dtm through a hex editor, and I didn't realize it apparently. For the Chapter 6 skip: In Chapter 8 after Riddle Tower, there is a room where you need to Spring Jump and enter a loading zone to the right. There are also spikes in that room. You can do a Ms. Mowzz glitch and double jump out of it to get on the seam. From here you can get underneath the spikes and the second set of spikes. Basically we need a way to get higher so we can Mowzz glitch while getting hit by the spikes. You can actually jump while activating her, but it's not high enough for the spikes' hitbox to affect Mario.

Finished the TAS! Hex editing was quick and really only took me 3 days. I'm now encoding! I will be making the following encodes for Youtube: -Overlay + Audio Commentary (Public on YT) -Overlay + Subtitles w/o audio commentary (Unlisted) -No Overlay + Audio Commentary (Public on YT) -No Overlay + Subtitles w/o audio commentary (Unlisted) I feel this is important in order to provide everyone with the best viewing experience from their opinion. I will be making the audio commentary encodes the main, public videos on Youtube because I feel that it's important to explain what's occurring in the TAS over audio instead of subtitles. With subtitles, the viewer has to take their eyes off the TAS in order to read what's happening, most likely pausing and taking longer than the already long time it takes to watch a TTYD TAS. I hope people feel the same way about this decision, although it shouldn't matter too much really.

Awesome work finishing this up! Is there the possibility of an encode without subtitles or commentary? If not, don't sweat it. I just prefer to watch TASes with only the gameplay, then I look up any tricks I don't understand by reading the author notes.

The subtitles I use are on Youtube, meaning that you can disable them at any time. The videos that have optional subtitles will not have audio commentary.

As of right now, Dolphin isn't being that accurate with certain aspects of the game. There's a door transition that is completely skipped (and I don't know if there's a solution). I want to do SPM eventually, but we don't have a clear route of what we're doing, and we still have a lot to test. We'll see!

Star Doors, such as at the top of the Flipside Tower, don't have a correct transition.

Is there a video of this anywhere? I don't really get what you mean by double jump out of a Ms Mowz glitch. I remember messing around in that room a while back: I tried to get on top of the pole you go across by using Ms Mowz, but in the end it seemed impossible. I don't think there is actually any surface to stand on.

Correct, there isn't any solid surface you can land on. The Ms. Mowz glitch is like the fish glitch, but with spikes. When the text box closes, you can do a double jump mid air. This is high enough to get on the seam of the room. EDIT: Here is a video of it: Link to video

Thanks for the video! I understand what you mean now, your wording just confused me a bit. Can you hover with Yoshi or speedswap to the right to reach anywhere useful? If not, the only thing I can think of would be to find a way to trick the game into placing you onto the platform by touching the spikes.

You mean the pipe that you spring jump up to? No, it does not have a solid collision.

The TAS will be first shown on Almolicious's stream July 17th @ http://twitch.tv/almolicious I'll see if I can get everything ready to be made public by then. This includes the original encode (uploading unlisted now), the overlay (rendering now), the original encode with audio commentary and overlay with audio commentary (still need to record audio), subtitles, and the TASVideos submission text. 7 days? Let's see if I can get it all done by then :D

That's unfortunate. This reminds me so much of that yoshi skip, or SM64's moat door early trick, where it was almost possible for quite a long while before finally made possible. Hope something comes out of this.

New TAS submitted. Go check it out on the Workbench! In other news, we have a new theory for Palace Skip. If we can either store Mario's angle before entering the next room, we can walk onto the seam during the door transition entering a room. We feel the best way to go about this is to look in Cheat Engine and find what addresses affect this value so we can maybe find a way to manipulate them to our liking. SolidifiedGaming and I don't have any experience with Cheat Engine's Memory Viewer, and there seems to be an issue just trying to search for what addresses write to the angle address. If anyone would be willing to help us that has prior knowledge with Cheat Engine, please let me know either here or on Twitter, @tasmalleo. Thank you!
