I have reluctantly been introduced to this game, but it's simple to play and surprisingly addictive: http://www.ogame.org/ When I knew it was a massive online html game I had no interest on it, but my friends insisted. Now it's an addiction :P (and I can play it on my Wii!)

Ahahahahaha. I used to be Board Admin there, stepped down to Mod a few days ago. I still have an account in uni 6 that's been in vacation mode forever. EDIT: By the way, please don't break the rules, I'd hate for my teammates to have to ban you. ;(

How are your account(s) doing? What style of play are you... playing? Me, I'm mostly a miner, maybe with the occasional raid. I might start again in uni 30 (joined up with a bunch of other staff when it came out), now that it has established itself a bit, though I hear it's as buggy as ever. :/

It's quite a game for patience, sitting around waiting for things to be built. But fun. EDIT: Does energy and such keep being collected when you're not logged on?

Yes I started too. I'm in Uni 11. I don't really have a strategy yet, because it's too early to develop one. :)

I have started 4 days ago, have only got 12 points, and I'm developing the resource gathering first (without letting resources accumulate), before moving on to attack/defense strategies. edit: humm, all of a sudden my score jumped to 36.

I once programmed a bot for ogame with a friend... was quite funny :) It however didn't work extremely well... lol

That doesn't stop people unfortunately. Unless Yrr was in the public beta when they tried this (no rules, occasional bursts of increased speed factor)... I miss public beta though, I was top 100 on pretty much only mines. :P

Does anybody know what else do I need to attack a planet that has 30 Light Lasers and no fleet? I got 3 Light Fighters and 1 Heavy Fighter. edit: humm I've been told that I will need to send about 12 Heavy Fighters to have a good chance to win, and even so, I'd lose most of them. Maybe I need a bigger ship. It seems that with 2 bombers I'd have no losses.

http://websim.speedsim.net/ http://www.speedsim.net/eng/ http://drago-sim.com/index.php?lang=english (might be outdated, might not, I don't recall any major changes to the combat system since v0.75a...) EDIT: Oops, I suppose I should clarify that these will help you determine what you need to destroy anything, but they cannot predict fleets needed, only simulate fleets inputted.

nice tools. I am really addicted to this game. I think I should cancel one of my two accounts because it's taking a lot of my time (I have 1 account on universe 31 of ogame.org and another one on universe 2 of ogame.com.br). I'll put the later on vacation mode.

I'm making my first colony! gonna make 2 in a row, on the 2 neighbor planets. About 1700 energy being produced on home planet, and have 650 points.

:) Best of luck in getting good sizes. I know it hurts early game, but trust me, you're best off killing colonies which are too small for any long term endeavors (less than 200 fields typically...) on sight, unless your luck is really that bad.

I see. My new colony is on planet 12 of the galaxy, so it's just 69 fields big. The next ones I'm gonna send to planets 6 and 7 which are free.

Well, you can keep small colonies, if you're focused enough to remember to delete them before you build them up too much and it really hurts that they do have to go... >_>

I'm not going to send resorces (significant amount) to the small ones, so I won't be sorry about it when it has to go. ;) edit: I got a 183 fields big colony now.

kwinse, I'm going crazy, I can't find explanations to what are the symbols next to player's names on the solar systems lists!!!

Go to the galaxy view, there should be a box called 'Legend'. That generates a tooltip explaining what the symbols mean. Or, for easy reference:

whoa everything's clear now! thanks! Why doesn't the harvest button work when I'm on galaxy view? Yeah, I have a recycler. Is it one of the officer's features?

It's a Commander feature actually, which isn't all that useful unless you want to harvest an existing debris field (hence why it's in Commander, since that's just a bunch of features which save time and arguably give no real ingame advantage). One can still send recyclers through the fleet screen, just be sure to change 'Planet' to 'DF' on the second screen.
