Good question. But all in all I have succeeded like 10 times casting doom without vanish. Not sure if it's possible against the bosses without vanish either.

Most bosses are immune to instant death inflicting spells. The bug is Vanish forces any spell to hit, including Doom. And since no monster can be immune to the death status that Doom causes, it works. Though, Joker Doom is more than likely going to be used against later bosses.

Moving back a bit toward to commentary, I would love to see some. Even though it’s not commonplace in these videos, it’s still an excellent idea, and I would love to have it in the video. It gets my vote. I would prefer as much as possible, but either way is great. By the way, keep up the good work. Judging from the post count, and amount of times read, this project is getting an extreme amount of interest. We're all behind you!

I haven't played this game and I'm insane enough to watch the time attack anyway. I vote for subtitles of any cool tricks or bugs happening. "Meeting whoever" isn't necessary.

Yeah, that's probably right. But I won't be designing those subtitles. I'll just put them in place and adjust the timings if necessary :)

I'm glad I'm only going to watch the smv of this game. Atleast I think so. :) Takes away all the annoying subs. Hehe.

Looks great as usual. What about sprint shoes? Are you going to buy them at each person's individual town? Would it have been too much gold to buy two extra pairs in south figaro?

I only need one pair. At the end of each scenario, I unequip everyone. I will need one or two other pairs for Kefka Tower.

Ah, when the movie ended I picked locke for no real reason, not thinking about sprint shoes. He walked slowly, and it occurred to me. I thought "maybe he unequipped them in advance so locke could now equip them", but there were none in the inventory. It didn't occur to me you wouldn't be using locke first, heh.

I'm doing Bannon first. As for which next : Locke then Sabin : +Sabin gets Running shoes and Hyper Wrist +Lot of money for Nikeah +Shadow, Cyan and Gau might join at higher levels - Must use Thunder Rod on Tunnel Armor, slower than Gengi Gloves + Atlas Armlet + Critical hit (because I can't unequip after this battle) - Celes joins at level 11 Sabin then Locke : +Locke gets plenty of money to buy 99 Echo Screens +Celes joins at level 12 +Celes gets two earrings +No need to unequip before Tunnel Armor -Sabin doesn't have running shoes (this relic is a must here considering there is no multitarget attacks in this scenario)

Because the information is buried deep within the thread (Page 7-8)... The rom used is: Final Fantasy III (U) (V1.0) [!].smc To double check, the MD5SUM is 4cdfc79b44cd6d532dc6631a5c762094 An MD5SUM program can be easily found at www.google.com. Just use it with your ROM, and it will give you a number to compare with. In case you don't know, the MD5SUM is a unique file ID, made from the data in the file. That means if you have a rom with a different MD5SUM, you have the wrong file.

Echo Screen + Slots = Joker Doom

I hope it's not considered double posting to keep topics to separate posts, but: Can desperation attacks be critical hits? Is it more trouble than it's worth, or is it impossible? Maybe I'm just dumb, and they are the critical hits?

No, they are auto-hit and ignore-defense so they can't crit (and are unaffected by morph / berserk / facing / enemy row / etc).

They're also magical, rather than physical attacks.

So the enemies MP-block would render the hit weaker? Does it also consume MP in order to pull off the desperation attack?

Just a little status report. I'm mainly testing things. I'm thinking about revising my strategy : Keep Terra at level 5, kill Whelk before it hides, get Running Shoes and Hyper Wrist before Mt Koltz, doing Sabin before Locke, ... The next thing I will do is to lower everyone by 1 level and get previous items with a saveram editor. I will then make a savestate run from here. Plus there something that bothers me : an unreachable chest #0 containing sprint shoes next to arvin's house (more info here : http://homepage.mac.com/glennfield/magitek/treasures.html). I'm trying to find a way to reach it with left+right and up+down but no success so far.
