Someone has created a font similar to the one used in FF6. It merely lacks the shading. Edit: http://homepage.mac.com/glennfield/magitek/sixtek.html Check it out.

I'm thinking of subtitles along these lines:
0:02:18.00-0:02:21.00 Place the boys to the front so they can escape fast. Also setting message speed to maximum. 0:05:14.00-0:05:16.00 Pauses like this are to control luck. 0:08:17.00-0:08:20.00 Meet Terra. 0:12:09.00-0:12:12.00 Meet Locke. 0:13:21.00-0:13:24.00 Meet Mog and his friends. 0:16:54.00-0:16:57.00 Meet Edgar. 0:17:59.00-0:18:02.00 Buy a Bio blaster. It was used in the beginning of this movie, but is was part of the machine battle suit which Terra didn't keep. 0:19:40.00-0:19:43.00 Meet Kefka. 0:23:27.00-0:23:30.00 Terra would normally use magic in this battle and totally surprise his new friends, but since this is a timeattack, we'll let Edgar handle all the hard work with a weapon of mass destruction. Meanwhile, Locke steals a potion.

Nah.. I think too much subtitles would ruin the fun of it all.

Shading is easy to add in Photoshop with a layer effect, but is this the dialogue font we're talking about or the name selecting font? They're slightly different. Also, is it exactly the same? Since it would be nice to have them be 100% consistent. I also don't think we should explain all too much, since we expect that the viewer of the movie will have at least some keen sense; for example the bio blaster explanation is unnecessary since one could easily see that the two attacks are slightly different. Also, that last one is too large to put in conventional FF6-styled graphics, unless I make the box really large.

I actually thought the last one to be displayed a line at time.

Personally I don't think any of those are necessary, especially the "Meet _____"s. I think the only time subtitles should be used is when a glitch is used whose purpose and results are uncertain or unclear(for example, the Wizards and Warriors one. Though I do wish that that was explained rather than just making a witty comment which acknowledges it). None of those serve this purpose, so in my opinion are unnecessary. If somebody really can't figure it out, they can go to the submission, or preferrably to a page which will be made about the game.

False. Battletoads have something that explain why the 2nd player is dying in a certain stage. Though, today, we know it's not true that Famtasia emulates that game badly. It's the game itself that contains a major bug.

Phamtom Train : Fenix down and Revivify both kill it in one hit. Shadow : I don't have time to save him. I won't use him in WOR anyway Vick & Wedge run away : The method I described earlier in this thread was used only for the two first battles. Later I used another technique which is possible to do in console: Fills Vick and Wedge ATB bars, then make the final atttack with Terra and as soon as the attack animation is launched, run away. Terra won't run with an empty ATB gauge. Relic Shop : Hex editing goes great. I have to rerecord some parts and add some delays but at the end 1200 frames will be saved. Commentary : I don't know. I see two possibilities : W&W style : Explains glitchs and weird stuff. A lot of stuff would need to be explained : -Run away from battles -Pauses to control randomness -Extra steps in overworld -Pause for critical hits -Desperation attack -Vanish + Doom -Echo Screen + Joker Doom -Sketch Glitch -Soft Reset -Etc Or DVD commentary style : Explaining and commenting everything I prefer the first. I have difficulties expressing myself in english fluently. I'll let the deep commentary for FF3 experts. The one thing that bothers me is that the movie isn't perfect. There is a lot of small errors (Bad row configuration, battle speed setting, item management) and a lot of errors will come due to my inexperience with this game from a speed attack perspective (for exemple, I was going to use Bio Blaster agaisnt Vargas. Now I don't know if I'll ever use it) I could do like Boco and make a savestate run without thinking about speed. Just to test my strategy.

I'm still against the commentary. But if enough people want it, there are enough people here who are fluent in english that would help out. If you aren't happy with the way the movie is now, you're going to be a lot less happy with it when it's finalized, and you look back and see the mistakes you made early on. If you feel that way now, you should go back when you still have the chance. Nobody here minds waiting, as long as it doesn't hurt your morale enough so that you don't feel like continuing the project.

I think you should do like Boco said because for some reason the Bio Blaster can be useful later maybe not. If you restart the movie right here right now, you'll never know. Like you, I have played a lot but didn't care of doing of speedrun. So I don't know the fastest moves to kill some bosses like The Final Battle ;)

Joker Doom will take care of the final boss no problem.... assuming his nearly preempted Fallen One interferes with the Echo Screen.

Are there any more factors involved for the desperation attacks BTW? Low health is one factor. Do you have to manipulate something else in order to launch it when you want? Or do you just re-record until you get it?

There's a 1/16 chance of it occuring, and as mentioned before, it won't occur until some time into the battle. Edit: At the request of the selectively illiterate, I should also mention low health (below 1/4) is indeed a factor as well.

If you need someone to translate to English, try and find someone who's fluent. *hint hint*

Doesn't occur until 32 seconds into battle, am I correct? Anyway, if we're gonna do commentary, we should make sure it's clean and short language. For example, I personally think that "Meet Locke" sounds less good than "Locke's introduction". The former just sounds a bit too engrish for my tastes. If the only thing we're gonna do is explanations of techniques, then you might want to JUST display the text, without FF6-styled box, and add a 50% transparent black background to it. I can make an example of this if you want.

Is vanish/doom required for as many bosses as you think? Maybe doom can still hit some bosses, but it has such a low chance that it isn't worth trying? I'm just wondering, because manipulating doom luck might be better than taking the time and MP to cast vanish.

vanish\doom trick works on all bosses except atma weapon, magic statues and kefk (ooopss.).

About this sub title thing again.. How many people do you think is going to watch this that doesn't already have played this game? Doom is pretty hard to cast successfully without casting vanish first.

I guess hardly anybody ^^', who that doesn't know the game would ever be insane enough to watch such a run for hours ... ?! Anyway, I think such subtitles would be nice =] I'm really looking forward to the movie Jyzero, great work so far !

Actually, Vanish-Doom DOES work on Atma Weapon (and Atma). And two of the three statues, Poltergiest is the only one immune to being vanished. So's Inferno. There might be one or two other bosses that are immune to vanish... But if the Joker Doom trick works out... well just be sure to have Setzer in the party that faces Poltergiest or Inferno... or both if you can swing it, I can't quite remember the routes in the final level.

I just tested Vanish-Doom on AtmaWeapon on the Floating Island, and it killed him. Though as for the others, I can't say for sure, it's been too long since I last played it. I was only able to test AtmaWeapon because I had a save-state, but I don't have anything to test it on Poltergiest or Inferno. I'm pretty sure, though, that I remember the Vanish-Doom trick not working on two of the bosses in Kefka's Tower, one of the Statues, and one of the non-dragon bosses.

I'm pretty certain Vanish/Doom (and any variant on it) works on everything but both Guardians, the three Statues, and anything in the final battle. This includes battles you normally can't "win" (such as against Chupon in the Airship going toward the Floating Continent).

I guess I wasn't very clear. Because the run is going to manipulate luck alot, will the vanish spell really be needed? Are there some bosses that will always dodge doom, and require the vanish?
