That was pretty amazing. It would much likely be published in here due to both quality and difficulty of the hack and the TAS :)

Nice TAS! I was entertained. Thank you for sharing Mister! (A definite YES vote from me if this was a submitted run).

Like I was saying, this is a lot better than any other SMW run, hack or official.
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

Do you know if that rope trick to grab on to the background can be done in SMW or just in hacks? I tried it in CBA last year when DK64MASTER did it in second reality project and I couldn't get it. Either way it doesn't matter because it's not possible small. There aren't any blocks in CBA that the ropes go into and small mario can't get hit.
I tried the rope trick (with small mario) in CBA last week and I couldn't get it too. I think it needs the condition that there is a block the rope goes into, or that the speed of the rope is 32 (the usual speed is 16). The latter is implied from the usage in the eighth level.

I loved the run but I have to say this is one of the more horrible hacks I've seen, completely butchering the game and seeming impossible to play without TASing it.

You know, I didn't think a TAS of Kaizo would be that impressive. Good job at proving me wrong. I really like the use of invisible blocks and invulnerability times. Also, when you killled Yoshi near the end of the second world. That was hilarious. The one complaint I do have is in the underwater stages and after you get the cape in the first world. The action just seemed to stop then (it's a complaint I have about all the Mario World runs except for small only. I can't watch the all exits run) Are you planning on submitting this? If so, I look forward to it.

I almost completely agree.... save for as a 1st or 2nd viewing, it's interesting.. after that... it just gets boring because you have to glitch your way through... There is the odd level where it looks POSSIBLE without glitches, and some serious skill... but outside of that... the hack is nothing to write home about beyond that. TAS Doable only hacks... nah... much more entertaining when you can do a game WITHOUT glitches.. needed. [Because then when you see the TAS you REALLY can be blown away... This game can be done without using glitches in real time and using only the given checkpoints. In fact, that was done by the programmer's friend. Here's a couple of links to the video playlists http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2A4C8FFD54A1AA10 http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0B2DB30996951E4C It was originally put up on nicovideo, but the link bkDJ put up seems to require you to log in.

Indeed you need an account. I google'd "nicovideo make account" and there were two tutorials in the first 5 links. It takes like 2 minutes. :)

I have a rom that matches the CRC (33912C73) of the updated Kaizo Mario World 2 TAS, however, it desyncs during the yellow switch palace as well. So, it looks like there are at least two copies of the ROM with different content but the same CRC. (or maybe it was the result of doing hex edit cut & paste with the input?) Anyway, out of the 5 patches I have for Kaizo Mario World 2, only one patch (CRC32 = 4560ED03) that played pasted the yellow switch palace. However, it desyncs in the middle of the level that follows. Can someone please provide a patch that doesn't desync ? UPDATE: I found a patch that plays until the end of the game. Here's the ips file: http://rapidshare.com/files/90333327/kaizo_mario2d_ips.rar.html Apply it to the US version of the SMW ROM. After applying the patch, the in-game (the one shown in SNES9x) CRC32 = A75B9D22. I think the Bowser fight is awesome in this hack -- at least it's different than all the SMW hacks I've seen. The last boss is nice too. I wonder how many people can beat the last boss without savestate or tool-assisted. I would like to thank gocha for posting the SMV files and thank the people who did the TAS for these two hacks!
I really really hate IPS patches. worthless pieces of shit if you ask me. I've gotten maybe one ever to work right. I mean what's with this stupid patch? I apply it and the game won't play. Like all the other trashy IPS patches.

And what's the deal with airline food? PS. If you can't get IPS patches to work, you're doing something wrong. Blame yourself instead of the patch, imo.

What am I doing wrong, then? I can't figure it out. I pull up the patching program...tell it what game and what IPS patch to use and it gives me a file and it does not work...is there some magic word I'm suppose to use?

Just name the patch and rom the same thing (with different extensions) and ZSNES / SNES9X will patch it on the go. Otherwise make sure you're using the correct ROM. It's the US one.

My knowledge on the subject is pretty small, but sometimes if using The Lunar Ips patcher you need to expand the Rom to a suitable size otherwise it doesn't work. The readme files should contain any information about that should it be required. There are way more talented people here can explain it far better than I can, sorry.

You're not trying to apply a headered patch to an unheadered ROM are you? Nearly all SMW patches come from headered ROMs and nearly all ROMs are unheadered

Excellent run. You should submit it. Both Kaizo 1 and 2, allthough I think Kaizo 1 the most entertaining. WTF was the 3rd stage? Rope glitch that makes you jump when you want ? Didn't you lose frames at the end of stage 8? nice glitch freezing the ghosts though Is the hitbox in this game smaller? you get so close to the enemies what was stage 9? you did some unexplainable double jumps

Rope glitch covers the whole of the room with wire netting unless mario touches a rope again, so you can jump whenever you want. The glitch in the 7th (you wrote 8th) level was done while waiting for 10-coins-block, so there is no loss of frames. In the 8th (you wrote 9th) level, I used a rope glitch again to do double jumps. Anyway, thank you for watching the movies!
