I searched, and didn't see anything about this game on the site. I thought this game would be interesting to TAS, since there's probably a lot of manipulation of the enemy in the center of the board, and there could be some very fast levels. It was kind of a simple game, though. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I made a test run once of level 1. I'll look for the file. Found it

I have some new information for this old thread. I was thinking luck manipulation would make for a good run of this game, but I've concluded that it just isn't a good game choice. I made a test run to just play through the game, and found out that it doesn't really have an ending. My score kept going even after 10,000,000 so who knows how far it goes. The level gets stuck at 99, and level 99 just repeats, probably indefinitely. My conclusion is that there just isn't a very good goal to create a TAS for.

You could always select qix-style games on other platform with actual goals etc. I recon there are a couple of good ones for Neo-Geo for example. Gals Panic perhaps? =)

Another good one is Volfied (Arcade), a.k.a. Ultimate Qix (Mega Drive/Genesis); a similar one that I remember well (and actually saw before I ever heard of Ultimate Qix, which I saw long before Qix itself) is Cacoma Knight in Bizyland (SNES): https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Cacoma_Knight_in_Bizyland
