Sorry for the bump, but I have a question. Can Tompa or anybody explain me if the clipping through walls trick still works here? I'm currently working on an any% TAS with Luigi, and I want to know if it can still be performed and also if you can jump through blocks with this. I'm using the Japanese 1.1 version of the game.
It seems there is no difference between the physics of Mario and Luigi outside of World e without Yellow Switch e-Card. And it has started: http://www.speedrun.com/sma4#e-Reader_Levels_Any_Wii_U_VC

I was looking for some memory addresses for this game and had no problem to find one for the world (03002A69). However, I want to find one for the current level & can't pinpoint it. I see there are some for the general map coordinates (03003DE4 & 03003DE8/6) that I could use instead, but was hoping for something more direct... Any help is appreciated.

Which emulator are you using? The current lua for speed watching doesn't seem to work on Bizhawk.

I'm using Visual Boy Advance, but I'm not sure why it would matter. I'm mapping some memory addresses because I was playing this game lately. I see no Lua script on this topic, but there was some memory addresses posted on the previous page:

I haven't tried them, but the X-speed is missing the last digit, hence why it wouldn't work. Looking at it it would seem the correct address would be 03003F44

Hello there. There's already a thread for this game, so you might want to post your progress there instead.

Before I forget about this again, I'll post it here: You can skip the title screen earlier in the Japanese version, just like in SMA2. It takes a little longer to skip it in the international releases. I post this just in case anyone wants to make future TASes of this game.

Ok now that I know Japan would be the better choice to skip title screen earlier, I will switch over to that at some point, I may or may not continue with e-reader all coins tas, I mostly just wanted to see how I could TAS this game. it's pretty fun to say the least. Link to video

I am now working on All Levels for this game. I am about 30 seconds ahead of the publication (which includes the sram thing, too lazy to get the full frame count right now) first 2 worlds are done, you can watch here: Link to video

Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario Bros. 3 (USA) (Virtual Console Edition) from USA VC. Patches to Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario Bros. 3 (USA, Australia) (Rev 1). ROM was found in memory byteswapped - the byte order has been put back to normal, like how most GBA dumps are.
The Final SHA1 of the patched rom should be DD2879329EC52BD5372F26B75297A67F1A81215A The SHA1 of the input rom used for the patch, ("Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario Bros. 3 (U) (V1.1).gba") is 532F3307021637474B6DD37DA059CA360F612337 My initial poking around on no$gba, indicates that all the e-reader functions are still present and this game could potentially accept homebrew levels through the e-reader function, although, based on how they are stored in the rom, it might just make sense to instead figure out how to index additional levels. (They expanded the rom to 8MiB in order to store the 38 official e-levels.) Guess I will be remaking all of my e-level card dumps from this rom in the near future. :)
Does anybody have a re-upload for the patch?
