Similar, yes, but unfortunately not the game I remember. What I remember was space-themed all the way through (not just the afore-mentioned side-scroller sections), and said side-scrollers were fully fixed-scrolling, like the aforementioned Gradius.
First a movie gets submitted, and ends up accepted despite breaking rules other runs have been rejected for. And when I vote less than spectacularly on this movie, I become the victim of harassment and threats. Yay, favoritism.

The first thing I thought of is The Guardian Legend, but that doesn't have sidescrolling. Instead it scrolls upwards in the shooter sequences.

I figure that the "standard 6" questions will help people place it. Who are the people in the game (IE the player characters, enemies) What kind of game is it (IE, Action, RPG, Platformer) When was this you first saw the game (helps date it) Where where physically were you when you saw it (different countries had different releases) Why as in the storyline, perhaps this is what you recall How do you do it (IE gameplay mechanics) Me; game 1 - NES My step cousin had this game, but would hardly let me play, and only really let me watch. Edit - I think the word "Ivory" might have maybe been in the title or story or the name of one of the teams you could play. Double Edit - I went though wikipedia's list of all NES games, and clicked on about half the links (avoiding things like "Ice Hockey" that are clearly not it, or "Final Fantasy" that I've played and know not to be it) and did not find this game. It may not have been an NES game at all. Also I've edited the date, as my original dates were in error. Edit again-I've been checking, again, though all the NES games, again. I've eliminated those starting with a #, A, B, C, D, and E, so far. I'll update the letters that I've eliminated below: Final Edit MAY be "Mendel Palace", but if so, I've misremembered the game horribly. Who Little sprites, kind of a cross between bomberman and a chess pawn What not a platformer for sure, or an RPG. Maybe "action"? or maybe fighting? When Between 1992 and 1995 Where Canada, Toronto. Why Do not recall How Many characters under your control in a room. I think you had to try to beat the other guys. Me; game 2 - NES Who All I recall from this game is a cut scene. You walked in, frame left, and there was a guy (or two I think), moblike, who then killed you, giving you a game-over What Pretty sure it was some kind of storybook or storybook like game When Between prior to 1991 I think Where Canada, Toronto. Why You had an objective that was storybook like, I THINK maybe you had to solve a crime??? How I don't recall any of the gameplay, just the cut scene. Me; game 3 - SNES FOUND I used to love palying this game, and rent it quite frequently. Who You had tanks and other non-tank units to move around on a hex grid. The picture really explains it better than words can. PICTURE TO BE UPLOADED AND EDITED IN SHORTLY. What Battle game. Strategy type. Tanks trying to bloe one another up. When 1996-1999 Where Canada, East Coast. Why You had to beat the bad guys (in red) in order to defend the world! How Move your tanks about, occupy cities, etc. I don't think you could ever build new units, and I'm not sure if you could even repair old ones. I know that each yon and your enemy had a flag unit that once destroyed ended the game/round

I've been trying to remember a game for the NES for years and the only thing I can remember is: 1. The game had military themes 2. Most / all of the game took place in a third-person-shooter perspective, where the player would shoot and launch grenades "into" the screen" 3. I thought the graphics were amazing at the time Any idea what game it could be?!

Don't you mean first-person perspective? It sounds like a lot of games. Operation Wolf comes to mind.

Who: Male main character. What: I don't remember if it was an RPG or an adventure game When: Early 90s for the SNES Where: U S of A Why: Don't remember at all How: I recall the main character running around and jumping into little models that became the levels. Similar to mario jumping into paintings in SM64 but with like...architecture models on tables.

Soul Blazer had something like that for the 5th world, check the TAS here and see if that jogs any memories, otherwise I have no idea.

I did think it was a third-person perspective, I thought you could hide behind things and toss grenades over what you were hiding behind. My memory is pretty fuzzy though. It's possible that it was actually the game you have suggested, but I'm not certain.

Arcade Game: How many players: 2 Players (Young guy with blonde hair) (Young Guy with brown hair) depicted in short stylized form. (Not Final Fight Btw) What could you do in the game: It was a beat em up game and you could enter buildings. and grab weapons such as a wooden pole to fight with. Some enemies had guns. What does the attract mode show: It shows the 2 players fighting some enemies in an elevator. Their Names and info. Just typical gameplay. When: Late 90's How did you die when you last played it: I entered a bar that was near a gas station, and the bartender with a grey goatee, bald head, suit, black circular glasses and sawed off shotgun tried to shoot me. I left the bar out of fear, but he followed outside with me and having no idea how to fight a man with a gun in this game I get killed. Losing the dollar I put in to play it. It was the very first level and depicted at nighttime

Here's an old shareware PC game (speaking Win95,98) I played back when I was a kid. I think it was among a bunch of other shareware games, but I don't know if the game appeared outside of Germany/Europe. There are boards and you are the ball. The objective is to clear all the white tiles on the board by passing over them, and then step on the green(?) goal tile (The start tile is purple(?)). The white tiles disappear shortly after being stepped on. Blue tiles are solid ground. There are also teleporters, blue tiles that disappear and reappear, enemies(?), tiles that shoot a projectile over and over... The background graphic is like the cosmos. The game had 10 levels or so - but I'm pretty sure it was only a shareware version. I think the game's name is "Tyler" or something, but I can't find screenshots for the game searching that name in google...

Got a question about an NES game. I was born in 89 and was about 3 or 4 when I played it so I guess that gives somewhat of a time frame when the game would have been made. Anyways, the character you played as was a shirtless guy who wore red pants and his gun was a spead gun type of gun from Contra, but it would start off shooting a single stream of bullets. Each upgrade would increase the streams until there was a spread of 4 or 5 streams of bullets. As for enemies, all I remember were these big faces on the walls that would shoot fireballs at you and if you shot them enough times, their eyes would close and they would not fire at you anymore. There was a certain point where you would fall and on the next screen you were in like a forest type of area and there were enemies that would shoot swords at you almost like the Lynels from the original Legend of Zelda game. So yeah, that's all I remember about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated because the name of that game has been driving me crazy for years and I so badly want to play it again.

Hi. I've stumbled upon this video, and vaguely remembered hearing this music before. I'm not exactly certain if it was from a game, but if so, can anyone please tell me what game was it?

I only remember one thing from this game so it might not help. Snake (MGS obviously) makes a cameo character in a skateboarding game

Hey my cousin had a game it was some fighting game for gba and it had unlockable characters like goblin, dylan, and soldier, my cousin would never let me play the main story mode (iwasnt as good at games back then -.-) but i remember the last level was one where there was a timer and some meteor falling towards you and you had to press a button as soon as the timer reached 0.00 or you would just knock it back and it would be knocked back at you until you get it right. Ive been trying to find out the name of the game and I cant contact my cousin to find out. Do any of you know?
I quit TASing.

I was reviving old childhood memories by looking up old kids games, there was this one with a weird purple guy. it was some sort of math game. It had an intro like this: C F F C C F F A, C A C A# A G F Another one is an educational Muppets game. Both are PC.
So yea, how's it going? Currently TASing: Nothing
