Alright, just a sec. Gonna copy the folder to my Desktop, then I redownload the torrent and seed.

Oh, and on a Side Note, the first segment gets a one second desynch at around an hour and a half though. I haven't noticed any desynchs in the second segment though.

A known issue, documented at http://tasvideos.org/Bisqwit/Projects/ChronoCross.html#ProgressiveImprovementAndPsxBugs . Sorry about that.

I was seeding, but no one was leeching from me. At least, the Bit Torrent didn't show it if it was. I guess your torrent wasn't leeching off of mine.

Oh, it's not that big of a deal. Where most desynchs annoyingly increase, the Desynch in this video stayed at one second. So it wasn't quite as annoying.

So who is going to start over a new TAS on this game using PCSX? Molotov|'s run is a good strategy basis: http://speeddemosarchive.com/ChronoCross.htmlhttp://www.geocities.com/kessenaddict/crossplans.txthttp://www.geocities.com/kessenaddict/chronocrossreport.txt Once upon a time I started creating a new version of my TAS, but I got tired with trying to luckmanipulate the beasts at Lizard Rock to drop the right items.

I should probably post some things I learned while helping with that run. While the attack value listed on the status screen is equal to (strength) + (total bonus from equipment), the actual attack strength is proportional to (strength) * (total bonus from equipment) instead. Physical damage is (some attack value) - (some defense value), whereas magical damage is (some attack value) / (some defense value). This explains why WeakMinded is useful and LoRes isn't. Your physical attacks come in pairs. If you don't want to pair your attacks, you can wait until the first attack is finished before inputting the second attack. A pair of attacks will never be interrupted (i.e., you can use a 3/3 even if the enemy will attack in 1 time unit), and the second attack in a pair will never trigger a counter. Multi-target actions will never trigger a counter, with exactly one exception (namely, the Boxer Boys). An action which targets "all enemies" is not multi-target when there is only one enemy. ☆Saints (which damages all enemies and heals all allies) is always multi-target, and thus will never trigger a counter. Against the first two forms of Vita (any), both the amount of damage and the number of counterable attacks are significant. Note that it can change forms even if your last attack is a miss. Vita Unus is generally considered the hardest of the three, but the other two use Volcano during form changes, so Unus is actually the best one to fight in a speedrun, even if you don't need Vigora.

Now seeding the 27-part version and the making of Vita Unus video. However, since Bisqwit's tracker is down and the Chrono Cross torrent isn't registered with the new TASVideos tracker, I had to change it to an open tracker. So after opening the torrent, change the tracker for it to http://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announce The tracker with the torrent file is up and running with this run registered as of December 8, 2010.

PXM Up to the World Map 1446 rerecords Notes: Choosing vibration off somehow didn't cost me any frames. Thought it looked cooler than waiting a frame. Manipulated Mel for the opening scene because she has the shortest name. Pressing a different direction for a few frames at zone entrances is used to manipulate monster spawn locations. I tried to make movement smooth, unless it sacrificed frames. I wanted to get to this point to compare to the current SDA run, first segment. You can imagine my surprise when I checked the inventory screen to find I wasn't any faster than the non-assisted run! Its exactly 20000 frames from power on to control on the world map. Edit7: It looks like black loading screens between areas are about 2 seconds longer on pcsx. Thats the main source of all the lost time. Edit8: Quick 720p dump. opengl2.9 maxed/eternal. Desyncs. Gives you an idea of the run though

I'm not sure really about the black loading screens, maybe you could find a fix for that somewhere. Try messing around with the graphics plugin's options. Some games don't even work without the "Enable Interpreter CPU", you could try using that if CC run's without it already, it may increase the speed of the loading times. Or try one of the game fixes already there. Something should work :P. And, I'm sure if you're a YouTube addict like me, you've done read the comment I posted to you there on the video. I can't really say I'm like "OMG That's Amazing" because really all you did was walk/run xD, but, if you post something else, perhaps a boss battle or something. Then I can go crazy like that ^^; But anyways, Eternal as a great plugin that it is, does cause desyncs in PCSX, this is because the main problem with PCSX is the sound itself, that's why games desync, and what the TAS Sound Plugin's option to stop known causes of desyncs is for. So, I mean as long as its not driving you insane with the small sound irks (fails of sound), then I really think the TAS SPU Plugin is bearable. But if you don't find it's right for you, you could try finding a BIN version of the game, as I'm sure you know, a BIN file really is just a compressed one, but still, I think PCSX has trouble with ISO files, because, I could record a 1million frame movie of running around in circles or whatever, and it would not desync, but if I did that with an ISO file, it would probably around the 100k frame mark. Eternal does act differently towards each individual game in PCSX, or maybe it's just random. Either way, if nothing works, then the only thing is the TAS SPU plugin, otherwise it's a desync hell.

I use the tas plugins when rerecording. I just use opengl2.9 and eternal for capturing. I tried interpreter mode and the movie still syncs. Making me think it didn't change anything. The SDA run may have been run on a PS2 with faster load times turned on for all I know. This is my first real attempt at tasing and I'm thinking I should pick a 2d sidescrolling snes game first just to learn the basics. manipulating these actual battles isn't very fun. I understand the game runs at 30 fps but sometimes in battles it drops to 20. So suddenly your frame that captures input is on an odd frame instead of an even frame. and you have to skip 3 or 4 frames sometimes. I wan't to run this frame perfect but manipulating this rng makes me want to quit like bisqwit did. I can get desired results but its just not optimal to me. Keep it up on medievil... I'll spend a few more hours on these first battles....

Like I said, PCSX has sound issues which cause desyncs, the plugin really has nothing to do with that. You can record with the No Sound Plugin, which might help, but say if just ONE sound in game makes it lag, then you've got a desync. I suggest just using the TAS SPU Plugin for both rerecording and Encoding (or capturing if you wanna call it that). By the way, FFDshow (http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/) contains a huge variety of codecs, which is useful in site standards of encodes, usually using h.264 decoding, if you're not using that :P. About interpreter mode, I meant use that possible for when encoding the movie. But about the Game: Since it's a square game, I'm pretty sure that the RNG will be similiar to FF7, FF8, and FF9, in terms of manipulation, they usually make the games the same way, with different software, as it comes out. Thanks about MediEvil :D... Sadly, almost done with it ;) I'm happy that its pretty much near completion but, I did enjoy doing it. You really want to pick a game that you enjoy doing, as it helps keep you motivated. Usually, my ways of making TAS's are like this... I'll complete the game, with very little optimization in slow down (not frame advance), instead of trying to optimize the heck out of it from the beginning (because chances are, someone will say "Hey, at frame # you can do x to save y frames"), then after that, show people the finished product, get input from people, then optimize it with slow down and frame advance, then finally do frame by frame perfect precision. If that helps give you an idea of how you should do this. Now, I'm just assuming that you know what RNG value goes for critical, what one goes for miss, and what ones go for hit. You obviously want a critical (that is, unless CC has something similar to FF7's Lucky 7777's Mode), but you also want to do it in a way that, the time it takes for the critical to be used, is actually worth it. If it takes 720 frames for example, to get a critical, where in that time, you could have done 2 attacks, which deal more than that 1 critical hit, then you should do the 2 attacks, instead of the one, OR do the first attack, and then when the first attack would've been critical, use for the 2nd attack. If, you want an easy game to practice TAS'ing then you can pick something like mario (all snes and super mario 64) , super metroid, n64 zelda's, super smash brothers (to mess around with manipulating characters). Pretty much the games that get TAS'd like crazy everyday, ones that you have many examples to view. And then manipulation of hits you can try FF7 (definitely one you want to try), FF3 (in America atleast, the one with Terra and the Espers), Chrono Trigger, Pokemon games (the ones for the gameboy, gameboy color, and gameboy advanced), games basically that are rpg style :p. But, many people suggest that you should TAS a game, that isn't usually TAS'd, that way, you can figure out things by yourself on your way I guess.

Now seeding both the multipart torrent and the making of that one boss fight video. It looks like I am able to connect to you, but it seems a bit sporadic. I am not permanently seeding this run, but I will try to continue to come back whenever someone asks. I enjoyed watching it, so it's the least I can do.

Up to the first battle for testing purposes. Input File Encode DarkKobold has found the RNG address. While work is being done it is not a priority over other projects.

http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Chrono_Cross_Least_Characters_Run.html A least characters run might be interesting? The player have to pick different routine than the one used by the TAS on NICO.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm25251203 It seems someone is making a new TAS of Chrono Cross.
