Wow... it's so sad that it was an April Fool's joke. That movie would have been awesome! (With more budget to get a better Ganon costume/mask/makeup, at least) On a related note, why isn't there a real Zelda movie yet? That is one hell of a good video game series, and I think it deserves a movie or two or three. Except if Uwe Boll has anything to do with it. Then it would suck.

I agree, with the "right" director and big budget, a Zelda movie has huge potential to be equally good as Lord of the Rings. Another upcoming movie who share the same potential is Masters Of The Universe.

More like the potential to become Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

I nominate Uwe Boll!

I thought it was really cool the first time I saw it on April Fools day, but whenever I watch something I thought was cool with my brother, he always finds a way to make it seem silly. What is it with people that are so desperate to see a Zelda movie or anime? If they are going to make a Zelda movie or anime, it would probably be on some year anniversary. The Kirby anime was made near the 10th anniversary of Kirby's Dream Land, so one could assume the Zelda movie or anime will be made near the next big round number anniversary too. If anything Zelda should be made Movie wise, it would probably be based on Ocarina of Time. If an anime was made, I think the best choice would be Majora's Mask since there are a lot of side stories in that game that can make for episodes.

I would. Quite impressive work for an april fools gig. The Ganondorf makeup also looked more professional than that of D'Argo in Farscape :) Though perhaps it was just the camera angles and lighting... In other news, this is off-topic, so it should not have been posted in the General forum.

I'm surprised you didn't link to the "Excuuuuuuse me Princess!" video. I think the main issue with that Zelda cartoon was that in those days, there wasn't a lot of material to be used in a Zelda cartoon. Also the fact that it looked like it was drawn on sandpaper might have had something to do with it.

Why is everyone so desiring for a Zelda movie? How many movies based on computer games are there, and how many of them have actually been good? In the vast majority of cases game movies have been complete trash and put the game in shame, and most fans prefer to pretend that the movie doesn't even exist. One big problem with game-based movies is that, for whatever reason I cannot fathom, they want to change things radically. They always change it so much that the movie becomes only loosely based on the game. That would be forgivable if the movie was awesome, but it never is. It always ends up being completely mediocre, and that's only in the best cases. The Doom movie was a prime example of this. Approximately the only thing common to the games and the movie is that both happen in Mars. That's about it. Everything else is different. The changes made in the movie were all definitely for the worse.

BFG. The best thing in the movie, actually.

I was watching the movie dubbed in a theater on my 20th birthday, and when they named the gun the first time, I choked on cola: "большое финишное глушило". I just don't know how to do it justice if translated back to English.

Out of curiosity: Do they show movies using the original soundtrack (and possibly subtitles) in movie theaters anywhere where you live? How about TV? Is the only possibility to watch movies with original soundtracks to rent DVDs? When I lived in Spain quite a long time ago, there basically was no possibility to watch non-dubbed movies anywhere. At one point they started showing one subtitled movie *per week* on TV. And that was at something like 2am on Thursdays, or the likes. I don't remember movie theaters ever showing undubbed movies. (Having lived in both Spain and Finland for countless years, I find it rather ironic that the situation is about exactly the opposite in these countries: If Finnish movie theaters and TV suddenly started to dub all movies to Finnish, that would probably cause riots. The opposite is true for Spain: If they started to show subtitled movies, it would cause huge protest. I know because I lived there for a long time.)

There are 3-4 theaters here that mostly show movies with original audio, but most of them do so without any subtitles, which is pretty inconvenient for me. But then again, I mostly watch movies at home as HD-rips, and that way I always have the access to both the original audio and english subs.

That impression is mostly due to Uwe Boll. Here's his IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/ You can see all the movies he's made, and all of them completely sucked. Since most of them are video games, and they sucked, most people think that "All video game movies suck". Now, I haven't seen them all, obviously, so I don't know the percentage of "movies that suck" vs "movies that don't suck" for video games, but I'm pretty sure that it isn't as bad as we think it is. I blame Uwe Boll for everything. He should be stopped. I signed the petition to Stop Uwe Boll.

Mostly? Name at least one movie based on a videogame that didn't suck in some major way, disregarding whatever Boll did.

Well that new Dead or Alive movie is totally hilarious and awesome. But then again the only reason it is good is that it sucks in such a grand manor.

Mortal Kombat was awesome and if you disagree then we aren't friends anymore. I'm also going to say that Bram Stoker's Dracula was very loosely based on Castlevania: namely, they both include vampires and vampire hunters.
