For luck manipulation, powerups would be quite the necessary thing. Especially for stuff like Item 1 which uses more than 1 bar of weapon energy. I think this would be better in the rockman 2 topic, but...

Does anyone know his route for the glitch run? I would think Heatman very early one because most glitches are abused with Item-1 but I am not sure...also, what exactly is luck manipulation pertaining to Rockman 2? Thanks.

I'll answer here instead of the new thread. Yes, their order is: bubbleman, flashman, heatman, airman, woodman, crashman, quickman, metalman, wily stages. Luck manipulation is needed to get the weapon refills you want. This is especially important in the Wily stages where weapon energy doesn't refill between levels. I can also disclose that they coded a VB program to calculate the optimal path and weapon switches for the rematch against the 8 bosses. (Not really optimizing since it uses full exhaustion of the search tree, but anyway it works since there are only around (8!) possibilities.) They have narrowed it down to either A(P)H(B)W(A)B(M)Q(P)C(A)F(M)M(M) or H(B)A(W)W(A)B(M)Q(P)C(A)F(M)M(M) Also, the time when pushing start to go to Metalman's stage is 14:28 - can anyone check what the time is in the current video to get an idea of how much faster this is going to be?

Offtopic, let me know. But i just watched the posted MM2 video on Bisqwit's from Morimoto i believe. And, the end of MM2 and RM2 are ....different! The alien boss was not in the us version, i'm 99% positive Are there any other differences like that from RM > MM?

It was in the European version, so I'm 90% positive it is in the USA version too. Afaik, the only differences between Rockman 2 and Mega Man 2 are: - Japanese version has only 1 difficulty level, whereas USA & Europe have an added "easy" mode - Translation differences (Light/Right, Clash/Crash and such)

The alien boss exists in Megaman 2 (U) as well as Megaman 2 (E). I've played through both ROMs and done a speedrun on the (J) ROM. They're all pretty much the same except for the easy/difficult thing on the non-J ROMs.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have clear memories of the alien from my childhood. It kinda freaked me out and it took a while to figure out how to kill it. The real question here is what do you remember being the final boss, if not the alien?

i always remember the Saucer ship as the final boss form. Maybe i never got that far... but i'm pretty sure i have. It may be i never got past that final boss before him. I am recalling from when i was like...6 so that might be so. *pops in MMAniversary Collection* Time to right the wrong. Thanks p.s. the euro names of the weapons are so much cooler. I always hated, You got ITEM 1...that i know i remember correctly.

You might have been thinking of another MegaMan game. And the European names of the weapons are the same as the American names! You were probably thinking of the fan translation that was used to make the RockMan 2 AVI on this site.

The last boss he chooses in the current version is woodman. And when he presses start to go to his stage the time is 15:11. So this new version are already faster.

Hahahaha, you accidentally broke your own rules. :) The untranslated version is fully Japanese; the only things that are in the Roman alphabet are the title screen, the boss names, the weapon abbreviations, and the credits.

And the video left out the credits, too! That's not nice.

A guy named Slide/平野 (heiya) has submitted two Rockman2 videos to morimoto's messageboard. The fastest one is 26:15, compared to 28:25 in the current video. FinalFighter had some comments and suggestions on how to make it faster. Probably his video in progress is faster, but it seems to be going nowhere at the moment. Would it be of any interest to submit this video meanwhile?

Once again, Finalfighter is not the one making the Rockman 2 movie. It's Morimoto. Finalfighter only has been analyzing the game using VirtuaNES: 平野 (Hirano) is Finalfighter's eager pupil. :)

I thought they were making it together, and anyway Morimoto has been off the radar for months. You didn't answer my question, by the way. Should we accept 平野's videos in the meantime?

That video kicks serious ass. However, I have questions and I'm not sure how to ask them. Even if I translated them into Japanese, could I understand the answer? Not likely. Two things struck me as odd: -During Wily Stage 4, he fires a superfluous Item 2. It's only purpose seems to be to drain Item 2 a little bit so he can exhaust it later in the stage. What purpose does that serve? -I suddenly forgot the second one.

He's free to submit them (or someone do that for him), but as for the two movies he's made so far, both of them can obviously be improved so I'd reject them. I'm not reserving a position for Morimoto, but anyone who wants to challenge him has to actually reach his level (in what he's doing currently, not in what he previously published).

Bah, I wrote a reply which got lost. Short version: Sometimes you need to fire while pressing left to start zipping trough the wall. If you don't fire you'll walk out of the wall instead. I think we could get understandable answers with collective effort. If it's something obvious though, finalfighter has probably already commented on it, his review was extensive.
