I'm currently in the market for a DS Lite, and I'd like to know some opinions about options for flash cards to use. Here's what I've been looking at: M3 DS Real - Rumble & GBA Expansion Pak CycloDS Supercard DS I only have a few priorities at this time: 1) It has to be reliable, so that I don't have to buy more than one. 2) I want to be able to play NDS ROMs (duh) 3) I would like to be able to play GBA ROMs 4) I would like to be able to play other ROMs via emulator (SNES, NES, etc) 5) Cool features, such as save states and slowdown would be a definite plus 6) The ability to play movies, view pictures, and listen to music would only be a bonus, I don't plan to use it for much more than video games. I realize that a lot of this information is around the web, including the sites I listed, but I'm curious to get some opinions from people here before I commit the money. If you have any advice in the form of glowing recommendations, scathing critiques, or even just general usability, I'd appreciate it.

From my experience with Supercard DS ONE: 1) Mine and my friends work fine. Haven't had any problems with reliability. 2) Yes, it does this. 3) No, it doesn't do this. Supercard Lite is required. I explained the reason for this on IRC so I won't say it again here.. 4) I have a MD emulator. It works almost full speed :) 5) Supercard has one save-state slot. No slowdown though. Cheats and walkthrough access are also available. 6) I haven't tried movies, but pictures and music are viewable/playable using its OS, Moonshell.

The M3 would probably be the card I'd lean toward, since it comes with the slot 2 flash cart for playing GBA games, among other things. I'd just recommend using YSMenu over the official firmware.

The supercard SD for the normal DS works fine for a few years now.

I would recommend a CycloDS Great community Great response from the dev team Nice functionnality. My friend got one, and I had to buy a DS-X (which is really crap). I would regret to not have bought a CycloDS when I could have done it.

Assuming you're merely against the piracy aspect, there are more innocent ways to take the statement... for example, I buy DS games, and then just play them on the R4 because the cards are a pain to keep track of and/or carry with you. On their own, they get lost easily. In their box, they take up too much room. I'm not an outright pirate, at least in that nobody's losing money off of me...

Do what you want, 'cause a pirate is free; You are a pirate! Sorry, I don't really have much to add to this one, except that I am also interested in the same thing as mmbossman, because our family are cheapskates and getting someone a DS lite for Christmas.
Voted NO for NO reason

I'm also confused... either you think piracy is morally wrong, or you don't like the fact that I pointed out something that would seem to be very redundant. If it's the second case, you have a point; if it's the first case, you're probably visiting the wrong site. To everyone else: Thanks for your opinions, and keep 'em coming!

I like my AceKard 2. Doesn't (afaik) have anything fancy going on, but can play roms and I haven't had any compatibility issues with DevkitARM (libnds), which is what I also use it for.

This site says you should get a CycloDS.

Can you play GBA games with CycloDS? Or is that why you'd consider getting the "EZV 3 in 1 Expansion Pack"? (if not, what is that?) I've been thinking about getting something like this, because I now have 12 DS games and like 5 GBA games, and it would be nice to have everything in there at once. Plus all the other benefits, wink wink nudge nudge say no more.

You could also go to any one of thousands of NDS piracy forums and ask there...

Or I could ask in this thread about "Nintendo DS mod/hack options". Thanks for the input, though.

Got my self a M3 DS Real card (with gba card also) works fine when I got it to work, seemed like it was just to small for the slot so i stuck some paper in there and voila it fits.

As an owner of the M3 DS Real, I say go for it. :) It's cheaper here though: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14165

I think it's impossible to play GBA games with a NDS flashcart. I know there is a possibility, but it involved another card that already play GBA games.
