Now if you'll excuse me, I have a profession to get to.
A lot of the guys here act like it is a profession, especially with the whole "failure is not an option" or "it must be [frame] perfect for the clients [aka watchers]" I, for one, will never be able to do a serious TAS, but c'mon, I like to play around and try to get as fast a time as possible casually. If perfection isn't an option, count me in... and this here challenge isn't something to be published, but to have fun with... remember what the word fun means? I don't see what there is to debate. If you don't like the idea then ignore the topic.

TASing at its very core is a hobby that shouldn't be rushed, not a profession.
Fine, have it your way I'm A PROFESSIONAL TASer, I have three weeks to come up with a 120star sm64 TAS before my boss fires me. He doesn't give a shit if it's frame perfect or not. Will you help me produce this TAS. No prizes will be awarded, but that's only because my job doesn't pay very well (currently 0$ an hour). Joke. No, seriously there is a reason that this site doesn't have very many active players, it's because noobs (or should I be politically correct and say "potential players") keep getting bagged by you guys because they didn't produce an excellent TAS the first time around. You're being too serious, if you actually think that people will want to start to TAS, you've actually got to encourage them a bit, and provide them with situations where they can join the TAS community, and not have any expectations thrust upon them, If I go ahead with this, and try to encourage non-TASer's to join, for fun, this provides that situation, where there are no real expectations. And if a game doesn't turn out too well for them, then it's no big deal. One last thing: People have been thinking this, but really, this is not actually speedTASing, but TASing with a deadline, It's not about finishing a TAS as fast as possible, but casually doing a TAS in free time during a set period, just anyone with an average amount of free time should know that in order to finish the TAS, you need to sacrifice your life, or alternatively cut a few corners.

Actually, to be fair, its not that bad of idea. Take any meticulous hobby - model building, painting, building houses out of cards, and etc - all have people who do *speed* whatever as well. Its a different aspect to a hobby. Those that like the end result of meticulous hobbies prefer the end result. The people that just want to see something cool - like all aspects.
