Yes, the plans are to keep the boot timestamp and use that. But that's not why the playback is desynced.

Quick question: Does the emulator currently support starting movies from savestates?

So the Dolphin works as a GC emu, but has a problem at the moment where it desyncs. Is that right?

From IRC: <AngerFist> I dont know if Im late to the party but.... TASING GC GAMES IS NOW READY TO GO!!! http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=4026 Anyone who is able to compile Dolphin can now begin tasing :D :D :D Please, can someone do that and report to us and XtraKrazy how it is working?
I did a little test file with Wind Waker and it seems to sync through the first bit. But as soon as I started moving around it desynced.
How did you download it? I can only find download links to 3 or 4 much older versions of dolphin . .

Looks like my noobishness is going to get the best of me . . I'll look around online for a tutorial on how to do SVN compiling or something

Nevermind, way too difficult for me, even when i downloaded a GUI to do it with, scanned online help, etc. i was still utterly confused. I will do what i can with other people's Dolphin compilations.

<AngerFist> hey ayuanx! are you aware of what a tas means? <ayuanx> don't have time to bother TAS, sorry <AngerFist> well thing is, your memory leak fix should help the tas branch, no? <AngerFist> and werent you the one who is fiddling with save/load function? <ayuanx> not perticularly tas, mainly for dolhpin itself :) <AngerFist> right :) well, perhaps you indirectly helped us :) <ayuanx> could be, if tas employs dolphin <AngerFist> i would love to see you look more at the load/save code. <ayuanx> i think it is done, at least with WII_IPC block <AngerFist> right, but what about the gamecube section? <ayuanx> what do you mean? GC don't have WII_IPC block ... <AngerFist> my bad. what i meant to say is, is the load/save function also stable for gamecube? or does your code apply to both wii and gamecube? <ayuanx> i think it doesn't make any effects on GC, neither good nor bad
Can someone please compile the latest commit and test if savestate/load fully works? Edit: ayuanx is the one who supposedly fixed memory leaking.

I just tried recording a GC movie on the latest: r4619. No dice, at least for me. I tried recording Ikaruga (PAL) chapter 1. Tried with both framelimit set to 0 and also framelimit set to auto. Neither file synced properly on playback. I haven't tried a Wii game yet, but I can do that later. I don't hold out much hope yet since even GC stuff doesn't seem quite ready.

I haven't tried the latest version, but my experience from a not that old version is that the desyncs happen because of non-deterministic emulation, not because of save/load problems (or perhaps because of both). I think I got desyncs even if I didn't use any savestates at all. Or does the memory leak stuff have something to do with the non-deterministic emulation?

Well my problem isn't desync it's that after loading or saving a state a few times dolphin tends to crash.(r4713)

I'm mostly just wondering if a new Dolphin version has been released as of yet.

What bug fixes and updates are included? I don't see any documentation.

Does anybody besides me have problems with the GC Pad and Wiimote plugins? I can never get them to be recognized, thus I can never play anything with this emulator.

You need to run the DirectX updater. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en I also had the same problem after reinstalling Windows, but the DirectX updater solved it.

Thanks, that fixed the problem with my desktop. My laptop still can't, but given it's a very low powered netbook, I doubt there's anything that can be done about it (it's an OpenGL issue, if I remember right).

Well, hopefully in a few months, I'll have a processor better able to play games on this emulator. I'll be getting the Phenom II X4 3.4ghz Quad Core if my luck holds out. It just seems my 2.7 ghz Dual Core doesn't have the power to run the games faster than half speed.

You'll have to look on your own. Rules forbid asking/giving ISOs/ROMs.

A few questions... 1) any% or 21%? 2) How are you going to make this? I've never gotten Dolphin to do anything close to syncing with its recording feature. Also, when you find a ROM, make sure to test that it's USv1.0 before doing anything significant with it. And especially make sure it's not a USv1.1.

I don't believe I've ever seen an GC ISO listed as v1.0 or v1.1.
