Had a brief scare. I realized you never actually got the PAL card if you oob early so I wanted to see if the game would place the PAL card in the sewer later on. And.... it does. I beat the game using walk through walls to simulate comm tower oob and without optimization I landed a 1:08 run.

A medal to anyone that can work this glitch out at 37:10. http://www.twitch.tv/mgslade/b/333666496 Basically, we figured out that you can only get that fpv mode after you use your last ration or un equip ration but being able to throw an extra grenade or get to walk with Stinger is like... impossible. I have no ideas and have never been able to replicate it.

Really hope you can find a way into the elevator. If the Hind fight can somehow be skipped, the resulting movie will be pretty astonishing. What about using two C4 explosives btw, waiting a bit to detonate the second one (until after Snake's vulnerable again), I don't think I've seen you try that?

Remember awhile back I did technically find an OOB to skip the hind, but in the end it just makes it so the elevator is broken. If you save and reload, the games message log actually thinks you've beaten the Hind, but the fight continues. You thing that triggers the end of the hind fight is Liquid setting the final explosive on the roof after his life bar is gone, and the cutscene of him blowing up the structure in the middle of the roof. Also we've tried 2 explosives and it does nothing. To be honest the new thing from yesterday I don't think is anything helpful sadly. Last night I just stood in front of the elevator normally at a certain angle and pressing triangle got it to show my arm through the wall like that, so it's really just the angle and nothing to do with the explosives.

Skipping hind fight is a weird one. As I said before, once you oob out the games mission log states you beat the hind when you reload. If you can find someway to progress after you go back down ladder you could trigger hind life but have no idea how to do that. Also about double c4 explosion I actually tried that later on after that stream. Nothing extra crazy happened. Also to actually clip in, you do the fpv glitch by unequipping a ration as you get hit by c4 (I don't think I even made a post about figuring that out). I then mash l1 and r1 and then mash triangle. That is only way to get Snake clipped in like video shows. As Magnum66 says I think it's more non explosion and not a real clip but if you get a precise angle it might work. Have to try everything. I tried peering over railings in comm tower myself last night actually and added in nades/claymores/C4 and nothing seemed to help. I also got Snake on an area where the railing/stairs first meet near top/bottom and start to extend upwards so Snake is at highest point possible above railing, peered over, and used explosives. Sadly again nothing good and seems like we're beating a dead dog here.

I forgot to post this a few weeks ago because I've been busy with other stuff but basically I found a way to skip Gray Fox but it's near impossible to do on an actual speed run I would think.... which is why tas is handy. ;) The moment you get to floor in Nuke Building with Nikita, knock the guard out in the vicinity of the door so it never closes. Run and get Nikita then OoB out via desk and while you do that keep guard in the same area by throwing stun grenades. This will allow you to reach the commanders room. I guess you would need like at least 5 stun grenades though.

Remember though Greg, some rooms aren't even accessible when loaded because then walls block you off, like with bathroom. You have actual video of that working using gameshark walk through walls and the commander room loading? Then testing non gameshark of course.

There's no walls to stop you accessing the Commander room trigger. There can't be since we have to walk through the commander room trigger when the room is non loaded to have reached the bathroom and get "in bounds" again.

That still doesn't mean though that necessarily commander room is activated. Then even if it is, won't the original problem of us not getting level 5 card from Meryl in bathroom make it pointless?

Rediscovered a new glitch today. Slade did this glitch by accident ages ago but blew himself up and the glitch got ruined and he never knew how he did it. I figured it out today on stream. Here is the video: http://www.twitch.tv/exisidis2/b/353733344# The glitch happens at 50:30 There is also another 50 minute stream or so on my channel where I explore the glitch a bit more and test stuff and swap ideas on how this could glitch the game more and the comm tower. Any ideas are welcome. We thought of glitching the stinger like this then every weapon would be stinger and we could use socom as stinger ammo. Sadly don't think you can giltch stinger like this because the glitch requires you to be laying on ground and get weird camera angle by using your last ration as you get blown up. Then you mash triangle for fpv along with down and L1 and R1 as you get up as well. Also you can even equip stuff like boxes and it won't work. Also in this state you can't use the elevator or ladders either. Getting damaged and leaving the room and loading another room cancels it. Still experimenting. We WILL break this game. >:)

The Wolf 1 fight was pretty damn hilarious. And from what I understand with the Wolf 2 fight, you have to trigger the first cutscene where she snipes you, then you trigger the glitch and then can proceed to the post-battle cutscene?

Yeah, you have to start the fight first. Because if you don't only the cutscene of Wolf sniping you will be there. If you start the fight, you can just run into the cutscene of Wolf dying and end the fight, when normally you would be shot. :) No more fighting Sniper Wolf for a 2nd time. :)

I just tried it myself. You can make it even easier as if you just crawl into it and press x to get up, just equip psg1 and it will do the oob for you. This is slightly easier than the pressing x and direction method.

Well guys, we finally did it. Mark this day, January 16th 2013 as the day we officially BROKE the game Metal Gear Solid 1. If you remember awhile back I posted a video of me finding the torture OoB glitch in MGS which essentially saves 20 minutes on a speedrun. The one problem with this though is that it messed up stuff later in the game and you couldn't use the stinger. The only way to fix this was to get the sniper wolf life upgrade, or a life upgrade after that. But since the only boss fight after was the hind, we were screwed. You could only beat it with the stinger. Then I found a way to skip the hind fight and OoB glitch out of it, but again we were screwed. The fight doesn't officially end until it shows the cutscene of Liquid's hind going down. Months of trying and posted glitches here and there. Found a wolf 2 skip and the weapon glitch and even a comm tower OoB, but the wrong tower. We need to glitch out of comm tower B then we could skip the hind fight, go right to wolf and get her life upgrade and fixed just like that. Except we couldn't do it... UNTIL TODAY! :D I'm not even sure what to all type right now I'm too excited but this Youtube video should explain it well enough. This would have never been possible without the combined efforts of Me, Greg, and Slade. I'm so happy right now and this has now changed the way we speedrun this game. I hope to see a new TAS done soon too TheEnglishMan! ;) Anyways I finally found the glitch this morning, and while it is complicated a bit, it is 100% doable and only wastes a bit of time (you'll see what I mean) Who cares though?! We can now skip 7 boss fights in the game! :D Thanks to everyone who supported us, huge thanks to Greg and Slade. Just solely on the comm tower was from about September 20th (when torture room oob was found) to now. Long breaks were taken in between though and occupied with other stuff like the wolf 2 skip. Total glitch time was approximately 6 months. We are actually now going to make a documentary of work carried out. :)
