Coming Soon complete Version of TAS d:
I liked your WIP there. I've got a few suggestions for you, based on what I've seen of fighting game TASes here, both accepted and rejected.
* Simply going for long combos isn't going to impress most people, especially if they're familiar with the game engine. Make it look cool in addition to being technically sound.
* If you're going for completing the game in your upcoming TAS, try as hard as you can not to re-use combos. The more we see something, the less it impresses us.
* Try to learn controlling two players at once, so you can do multi-player fights.
* Switch characters in those fights, and show off the full roster.
** Alternatively, if there's a character who can transform into other characters. (I haven't played any of the Street Fighter IIIs) use him/her.
I don't think this is always a good idea, there is a good chance it will make an already too long tas much much longer
unfortunately you can't x-copy in 2i
ibuki is a good choice for a double impact tas
your upkicks into super is neat
as a starting point I would watch some skillsmith videos

they are kind of dated now but you could do worse then incorporating some of them. These are done when the game was new without tool assistance so you should try to at least do combos of this quality with the extra tools you have.

Hi members, I'm here again to bring a playthrough of my favorite fighter in this version ( 2nd impact).
IMO Hugo and Ibuki are two good-tier char, Hugo can be slow compared to the other fighters however he has awesome juggles.

extra-TAS, 3rd strike - Twelve

i think the twelve TAS is very acceptable as a submission to the site
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto.
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

I agree with grassini, you should submit the Twelve run. It was by far the best and most varied SFIII TAS I've seen yet. I'm pretty sure it's publish-worthy material.

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

It's a little better, but I still don't think it's publishable. Fighting game playarounds, especially those with just a single character*, have to be absolutely exceptional to be published here, something that impresses both the hardcore fighting game fans and entertains casual viewers. Just attacking with the same few moves over and over again and having nearly the same ending to every fight doesn't really scream "entertainment" to me.
*This does not apply to characters who can copy other fighters, like Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat or Mokujin in Tekken. These characters are always preferred in playarounds due to inherently having the most variety.
Maybe do some research on the game before diving right into it? There could be documented glitches or other playaround TASes or combo videos that you can learn things from. It's okay to do things on your own sometimes, but in cases like this it's definitely preferable to gain some knowledge about the game... Even watching other fighting game playarounds can help with capturing the overall feel of what's acceptable on the site.
This is probably required watching for the gold standard of what a fighting game playaround should look like in the best case: [1955] SNES Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 "playaround" by SDR, Thevlackdemonn2294 & Dark_Noob in 30:28.38
Sure, it isn't directly comparable since they're two different games, but as I said earlier it's the overall feel of the run that makes it stand out. Things as simple as playing around with the AI can make the movie a lot more entertaining: Draw them out, catch them in loops, bait them into doing supers and dance around them. Perform infinite combos even if damage starts to die out early. Use frame precise input to combo together moves that were never meant to be used in combos. You can do anything you want as long as it's stylish. Keep surprising the viewers in each fight, don't play all your cards in the first match and leave them with nothing to look forward to. Are there any glitches? Use those extensively, save the ridiculous ones for late in the run to have maximum (second) impact.
Actually, here's a better example of what you should be striving for:

Again, different game, but the overall feel is what's important.
I'm glad you at least posted before submitting this time. Hopefully some other people can chime in and give better advice than I can. This does look more optimized than your prior submissions, so don't be discouraged by the criticism: It took SDR quite a while to warm up and start creating great fighting game playarounds for the site too, and now he's probably the most respected person creating them around here, so even rough starts can turn into incredible careers.

Looks like there's a bit more trying to push the combo system to its limits this time around, but I'm not too fond of the repeated whiffed Jabs. The taunt was also used too many times, so its novelty wore off quickly.
you got a long way to go but i'm glad you're trying anyway!
what you lack in your TASing attempts is Frame Advance, playing the game in normal speed gives you a disadvantage in precision and speed,by playing frame by frame your tas will look more "sleek",precise, fast and you'll be able to do so much more.At the very least, don't play at 100% speed if you're not Sakonoko or Daigo(just joking here, the point is to never play the game NORMALLY,you have to look infinitely better than Sako)
don't be discouraged if you haven't got it,even the TASers who made the BEST TASes around have done a lot of work before they got good.
i recommend watchin TASes and Combovideos to know what is considered amazing by the community.

Those aren't actually jabs, they're crouching medium punches. In the SF3 series, whiffing mediums and heavies builds meter, crouching medium punch being Yun's optimal meter builder.

Actually, I run the game in frame advance at all times except during loading and VS screens. 2nd Impact is a hard game to TAS compared to 3rd Strike simply because it has one of the wonkiest combo systems in street fighters. Some characters have true infinites, some characters have trouble getting out any juggles whatsoever etc.
Enter the Matrix is a piece of garbage but I'm gonna finish it if it kills me.
Hum... this run seems better than the older one.
Question: Why did you choose 2nd impact if you are planning to submit a run here? If you want to try something I guess SF3 3rd Strike looks like more entertainment and better than 2nd impact.
You told used frame-advanced but I think you didn't know how use to your favour, let's start using some observations.
In all mainly screens after you setup the game to hardest difficult after f2 sets you can skip the game and copyright screens using punches or kicks just press it in right frame, the same rule about inserting coin but using coin you need to press and hold 2 frames 5 or 6 keyboard keys to insert a coin. Same rules to all vs. screens you don't need to wait these screens vanishes if you can skip them while you're doing a time-attack.
About your run: So, this sounds better than the older as I told, but did you understand how the combo system of SF3 series works? Well maybe I'm not the properly user to talk much because I played these SF3 games just for little times. But looking for some combo-videos and mainly some TASvideos on Youtube I saw a lot of juggle combos, maybe are the mainly "secret" to make combos in this game, I tested somethings and really works.
These are my tips. If you want to know about how to work better in SF3 series I suggest this channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/AlexxShadenk777
See some videos he has many TAS matches, TAS gameplays and some updates, try to talk with him to know about glitches maybe it would help.
Nice to see you took intrest in my video, Noob! Big fan of you're stuff.
Anyway, I chose 2nd Impact because it's really unappreciated for what it is. Also, I play Third Strike competitively, I know how it works inside out, and this game is NOT 3S. I appreciate the advice with frame advancements on the dip menu though. Also, I've followed Shadenk for a while and he mainly sticks to 3S, which is again unfortunately much different than 2nd Impact in pretty much every way.
Enter the Matrix is a piece of garbage but I'm gonna finish it if it kills me.
Understood now and Thanks.
I know that 2nd Impact have some differences between 3S, but my question was about the choice to present here? Because 3S have more sense to bring instead of 2nd since 3S already have more glitches, combos and impressive matches stuffs.
To get a publication here if you're trying, let's attempt the best version choice to TASing I see some extensive differences between 3S to 2nd comparing with my arguments on glitches, combos questions, if you have more glitches, combos, 2p matches and some others in a game your opportunities to get an publication increase because Fighting games needs to bring entertainment value which are too opposite from speed on time-attacks.
(I'm not saying speeding tases don't have entertainment values i'm just saying about try new updates which will makes all entertained while watching all the time and not focusing only on beating fast time possible/glitching abusing).
there is no need to create a new thread,we use one thread for one game only.
the ken akuma 2pmatch was perfect, the other ones could have used some more variety with the combos and dodges, all characters have some sick juggles on stunned enemeis. Also recommend using supers that are different from each other visibly(shoryu reppa and shoryucannon)
in a TAS it's easy to parry so it looks better using the hitboxes of the body and attacks in interesting ways.
the yun taunt kill was very good too!
don't TAS everything at once,do a little bit and then improve on it after feedback.
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto.

Agree with grassini on most parts. The run is very strong in some parts.. personal favorites were the necro yun 2p match and necro sean 2p match, as well as the sick yun taunt kill.
Lars, if you're talking about userfiles for the upload limit, it should be 4 MB. If the movie is too large, you can send it in a .zip instead.
Feedback is important, especially in these kinds of runs. Don't TAS too much at once and have fun :)
Thanks for the feedback! And I mean submission wise. I'm making it a point to have this submitted when it's finished, whenever the hell that would be, and I want it to be a long, LONG run so that I can exhaust what the game is really capable of. (I'm planning to run through the game with nearly every character once the VS stuff is through with) So I need to watch the limit on upload sizes.
Enter the Matrix is a piece of garbage but I'm gonna finish it if it kills me.
Well, it's better than the older, you're getting the point.
So, as you're going to a playaround I need to say somethings which would help while TASing and I will be heavily putting my arguments here.
First off: You know how to redo the fbm right? (just mark off the ready only box when set the playback) I've been seeing your movies and the recordings are too slow for a good TAS, are you doing it in one day? Sorry because you are getting better but a TAS don't be made in a day, example: me, I bring one TAS to my channel week by week, sometimes I need to delay because I didn't finished yet. So don't worry to delay it, try to bring new combos, glitches you're going to a playaround which needs a lot of patience to bring new additions so be patient, make some fights more slow you don't need to do your movie only in one day most of playarounds already published here took the authors 1/2 months to finish.
Second: I think you didn't understood my point talking about frame-advancing and game choice.
Again the run seems you didn't used it right, you can skip these copyright, vs. screen by pressing kicks and punches frame by frame, another point are still the game choice I'm not an expert on SF3 series but I don't know if 2nd will be more interesting than 3S why? 3S have more characters, glitches and combos but it's your choice I'm just suggesting because some rejects from here are for bad game choice comparing with similar game version.
Third: You are trying to bring a long playaround, however my opinion are opposite, long playarounds makes the people bored depending on the game choice while watching, yeah all playarounds on the site have long times: 19/20 minutes or more, but don't try to bring all characters it will make the fights drag out. Add only the best fighters of this game as Yun, Ken, Gouki, Ryu, Urien, Necro, etc. Also try to bring glitches with these characters, new combos I watched this playaround and I only saw corner combos, seriously sometimes I feel bored only seeing corner combos, bring characters which makes mid/full-screen combos this game have a lot of potential to it.
Fourth (last): I know you're using frame-advanced, but I have to be honest.. Sometimes you (forsake) one of your fighters, in a playaround it don't make sense the point here are bring matches more crazier than online matches, adding combos and glitches, so while TASing try to move your fighters all the time, the taunt parts are good but sometimes it drag the fight doing taunts to exposed that character it don't sounds good.
I guess I talk all I needed, so try these tips, get more movimentation between both characters, try to bring the best characters and not all because sometimes all characters don't entertain all in playarounds, bring glitches, new combo variations as I mentioned: mid and full-screen combos. Abuse more about hitbox kicking the back of characters, doing more defensives (blocking) it is a good addition arround the playaround, try to pass through the projectiles as hadoukens with some dragon punches or using throws and of course try to understand more the function of frame advancing skiping the mentioned parts are these basics tips which makes your movie more interesting to watch.
