For more information on the game: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/547/ It appears to be a fairly significant and complete Mario 64 hack. Has anyone thought about TASing this?

I have thought about it ;D -You can exit the town early by a BLJ -You can access the cannon early by a BLJ I have found a few small shortcuts here and there. I have the whole first area route planned.

I tried patching my ROM but it doesn't seem to work. Is there some sort of headered/unheadered thing I'm not aware of? Or perhaps it doesn't use the (U) ROM?

I've tried patching the rom and can't get it to run even after using TT64. Maybe someone could be kind enough to PM me the patched rom :-)

No, you start with Luigi. Hit left on the D-pad on the file select screen.

To all the people that can't get it to work, use mupen if you're not. In PJ64 you need to change some memory settings and stuff.

Is there any particular reason the text in this game was so fucking bad? It was like he picked what he wanted to say, blindfolded himself, and then mashed his hands on the keyboard as fast as he could to try to type what he wanted, with no time for corrections. I don't understand how you could go through the trouble of making a complete hack of a game and then leave even simple spelling and grammatical mistakes. This is just beyond words though, very often it is so bad that you can't even tell what he was trying to say. Don't get me wrong, it's great that he made this hack, and I hope to see more people going to the trouble, I appreciate their effort but, I just don't get this. Is there something about the editing of text that I don't know about that explains this, or something? I think I ran into one text box that didn't have a mistake in it, "Town Exit."

The thing I didn't understand was why in the cave area there's a sign that has the original message still on it ("Welcome to bob-omb battlefield etc.)

The music mods are rather interesting. So far I've noticed Zelda's Lullaby, Milk Bar (MM), the athletic theme from SMB3, and Good Egg Galaxy. Also, unlike many hacks, this one seems to have a fairly reasonable level of difficulty.

I had a little play of it and i can't help but agree, this would be a very interesting game to TAS, especially considering how different it is from the original game. I managed to beat koopa the quick, unassisted! just had to say XD One thing though, there are 38 stars, but when does the game end? Is there like a big battle at the end, or is it just how fast can you collect these 38 stars?

Don't read below unless you want to know what happens at athe end of the game. @ theMrksman: There is a massive bowser battle at the end, and you get a fire mario suit. You have to have 38 stars to do this battle, so the only category for this hack would be 100%

Ok, with Rice's plugin turned on, this is what I see from the Goomba near the starting point of the game: "I'mnslad you're here, so ething terrible has happened! Our precious power star has beit broken into 38 pieces, scattered all over the town agd ses esurrlund You gyoutta help us fg dang the mssing stors o we can reboild it!" Am I the only one seeing text that broken?

Using glN64 0.4.1f running in sixtyforce, the text displays fine ("I'm glad you're here, something terrible has happened!"), although there are still many spelling/gramar/punctuation mistakes present due to lazy editing from the author. A great hack that I'd really like to see TASed. Cheers, Franklint

Recently, someone came out with a full hack of Super Mario 64, and it's generally quite well done. See and download it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JBdxcnyxeQ I'm no TASer, as my submission record will tell you, but since this is much more difficult than the original, I think it'd be very entertaining to see it TASed if anybody wanted to take it on.

There is a 0 Star on Youtube, although it's very unoptimized: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY94nkXAKLo I think a TAS should aim for 100%. Glitching into 3 bowser levels and beating the game is more or less the same as the 0 Star of the normal game, even if the levels are different.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

That video is really bad - in addition to being unoptimized, it's obviously sped up, so the reported time is a lie. I agree a 100% run would be the best, to show off the levels and the many ways in which they can be broken. Maybe possible to skip the 2nd boss/keydoor? Skelux made a big mistake tying those 3 overworld areas together (the pipe area is further down, but obviously useless if skipped).

TASing with the camera code for this hack can only be done on Mupen64Plus.
