How powerful of a prcoessor I need to use certain emulators such NO$GBA and PCSX? Do I also need to have certain parts before I can use said smulators or others like it? I know that as software advances it requires more powerful hardware to use but I don't how or if any PC I have can use it. What emulators are compatible with any Intel processor such version 2, 3, 4 or Celeron? Discuss.

Well, for starters, every emulator is compatible with every processor. You should only be concerned with operating system. Most emulators are written for 32-bit Windows, although there are some Linux or Mac-only as well. Then, the speed varies between different games on the two emulators you've listed. I believe most games No$GBA runs require at least a 3 GHz P4 CPU or its equivalent, and a non-integrated graphics card released after ~2004, to run full-speed.

no$gba is fairly demanding. If I remember correctly, I wasn't getting full speed on an Athlon X2 4600+ with ATI's flagship card circa 2006. PCSX, however, you should be able to get full speed on a Pentium III with a GeForce2. I'm assuming, anyway. And you know how assumptions go.

no$GBA has gotten much faster since then, FYI.

Not fast enough. I'm getting less than 1fps on Disgaea DS on my laptop.

Are you using the Software renderer(nocash)? And what version exactly? 2.6 introduced nocash renderer, and 2.6a sped it up a fair bit.

Ah, that IS much better. 2.6 gives me anywhere from 60-100% speed. I stand corrected.

Let me guess: You weren't using nocash renderer or you weren't using 2.6? ;)

Wasn't using 2.6. The scary thing is, 2.6 is a year and a half old. x.x

Why are you using no$gba? Desmume runs at like 45-55FPS on this fossil of a PC...

Honestly, I don't use any DS emulators. I tried no$gba a while back to see how the state of emulation was, saw it had reasonably good accuracy and ran fine on my desktop, but wouldn't run on my laptop for anything. Already have an M3 to solve the issue of keeping all my games in one place for immediate use, and I'll never have performance issues with that.

Is it possible for an M3 to prevent issues with emulation? It's literally just playing the games like a real cartidge.

The M3 series is a series of flash carts for the Nintendo DS. It includes stuff like the M3 Perfect, M3 Professional (both slot-2), M3 DS Real, and coming out soon is the M3i Zero which works with the DSi.

My point was more that one of the main draws to emulation for me is having all the games I want to play readily available from a simple menu. Open, click, play, done. M3 fulfills that purpose for me. The other point was that with a flashcart, I don't have to be concerned about speed issues as I would with an emulator. Hence, no desire to emulate DS on my end, beyond watching someone else's movies.

I see.
