Here are some fast boss battles I came up with in recent runs.

I recommend that you watch the Crush Crawfish battle last.

About the Volt catfish fight, doesn't the Ray splasher damage it at all, or why did you do it like that, and without any enhancements?
And I believe this technique could be used to favor against Blizzard Buffalo, especially using the AI glitch, might be possible that it's better not too use the AI glitch, but I'm not gonna try that right now.
And using the same technique against the Gravity beetle as against the Blast Hornet would result in a very quick boss battle (Charge up/Ray splasher) since the boss flashes for 120 frames when damaged by the Ray splasher.
Also the Tunnel Rhino should be possible to kill off pretty fast with the charged/uncharged x-buster variation, since it moves between the walls in a very fast manner. And also against the Neon tiger, since it's usually sitting near/at a wall.
Oh, and also, while watching nituja's new video I noticed some big frame loss in several places, for example when gaining control of Zero for the first time, he's 5 frames (I believe) slower to move than in the 39:51 video. Although I can't get to move at the exact same frame as in the 39:51 in my new movie for some reason, I'll have to get into that later.

I didn't have either the Ray Splasher or the X-Buster Upgrade then (it doesn't work without X-Buster Upgrade, since you can't charge while using anything but X-Buster). The battles were from different runs. One of the runs was an arm chip (Hyper Cannon) run which was abandoned after I got the arm chip. The other run was a swordless X-Buster Upgrade run. Speaking of which...

Sorry,
Problem already. Intro stage, fight vs. Mac--you blow up the capsule from the right side and have to walk all the way back to the left. Looks like it wastes at least a second.
Do not try to bend the spoon, that's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth.
What Truth?
There is nospoon. Then you will see it is not the spoon that changes, it is only yourself
Oh, by the way nitsuja. In your published movie of this game you gain control of Zero for the first time at frame 5184, and move on from that, but in the newer one you gain control of Zero at frame 5189, while in my movie Zero starts moving at 5186, what's the secret? How will I gain those 2 frames?

I think it's because you were one frame late pressing down to climb down a ladder, and X wasted two frames by walking.
Don't worry. I started an X3 run, and I just realized I had made the same mistake too. My run is 170 frames faster than yours, though. :)Edit: I'm not actually sure that it's the ladder that causes the frame loss. I tried to fix it, but I couldn't seem to. That said, I'm continuing with my run.
Intro stage run is currently 213 frames faster than Graveworm's run:
http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/309/MegamnX3.smv
The skip-the-intro trick that works in X2 also works in X3, which is where I got most of the frame gain. If you want to see, just run DeHackEd's X & X2 dual run on Megaman X3, and it works.
Well, I stopped MMX2 since I can't regain those frames after the intro boss, and I don't think I'll ever play MMX3 again, since I really don't like the Doppler stages, and I can't get that trick with the cars in MMX's intro stage to work, so I guess I'm kinda out of games to play right now. :P
Good work though, and I hope you finish it, and that you don't skip the saber because you think that's cooler, (If you're doing a movie where you pick all the stuff up.)
Thanks for replying.
I understand how hard it is to keep starting over and over trying to improve a run by a few frames each time. For me, it's hard to start over at all. I just feel that I have to get something done soon or else I will never get it done (others feel that way, I'm sure).
I'm currently working on a MMX3 any% run. By comparing parts of runs, I concluded that a sword run is faster than a no-items run, which in turn is faster than an X-Buster-only run. It's really close, though, so more efficient boss battles would provide more evidence that the no-items run is faster. I even tried a arm chip (Hyper Cannon) run once, but that's not even close.
But really, I can't figure out anything by myself, I just steal other peoples tricks, so I'll just quit playing tool-assisted and start watching others. :)
Here is my run so far with Blizzard Buffalo, Toxic Seahorse, and Bit (in Tunnel Rhino's stage) defeated.
http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/384/MegamnX3.smv
Run is currently 735 frames ahead of nitsuja's run.
I will take a slightly different route in this run. After Tunnel Rhino comes Neon Tiger, Volt Catfish, Crush Crawfish, Gravity Beetle, Blast Hornet. The reason is to avoid revisiting Volt Catfish's stage to fight Vile's stage. Besides, Spinning Blade does no more damage than X-Buster, with twice the flashing time. I would liked to have used Parasitic Bomb (Hornet's weapon) on Gravity Beetle, but the dumb ship-and-block scene says otherwise.
I'm not sure, but it seems as though nitsuja didn't check any damage charts before battling bosses.
It'd seem to me that nitsujas video was only an attempt to get rid of the lousy video that was up before his.
I wonder how much slower my Neon tiger fight in the 46:18 is than nitsuja's in his video, come to think that it doesn't use any small bullets nor luck manipulation. (Edit: It'd seem mine is actually faster.)

Your fight is 176 frames faster.

Then I must beat it. :)
I see a 16-second improvement in the Blast Hornet battle and 10-second improvements in Neon Tiger and Volt Catfish battles.

Well, it was a lot of fun too, but yeah that video really needed to be obsoleted by someone.
FractalFusion: Looks like you're doing a great job of this - keep it up.
Yeah, I wouldn't wanna do a TAS that I didn't think would be fun doing, and neither do I think anyone else would.
Somebody comment the newest update of my MMX video dammit.
One (very minor) complaint about this run, actually: In Toxic Seahorse's stage, it's possible to kill those two green robot enemies at the start with the X-buster without losing time or even moving any differently than you did. It doesn't save any time but it looks a lot smoother.
Also, a few screens after that, are you sure it's faster to go on the left and climb a bit up that ladder instead of jumping off the right side of it? (I'm guessing it is, but why?)

I've looked at killing more enemies to be more exciting, but generally, I'm not an enemy killer. I don't kill them if they don't get in the way or cause lag.
Anyone can suggest enemies to kill. Otherwise, I might just forget.
Yeah, I should have killed those enemies.

I looked it over and it seems that your route takes nearly the same time as mine. I didn't test whether jumping from the step on the left (to avoid grabbing the ladder) was faster or not. Your route seemed slower when I looked at it (lose height on a jump, no jumping off flat ground).
There are other things I might have missed. At the first ladder in Blizzard Buffalo's stage, I didn't jump off alternating sides. If I did Neon Tiger's stage sooner, I could have hit Bit with Ray Splasher a few frames earlier.
Do Neon Tiger second then, and Tunnel Rhino third, it wont lose you any time, will it?
Oh, and here's just a little something I yesterday and today. (I had all day to do it, and it took like 10 hours to do, it's much, but I just couldn't stop.) :)

It's a bit late for that, but I wasn't sure whether it would work out (I want to use Tornado Fang to get past a few enemies), and I was hoping that Bit would show up in Volt Catfish's stage. I could have manipulated Bit to not appear in Tunnel Rhino's stage, but I felt that the run looked just as good as it is.
I can't believe you did that run in 10 hours. I don't want to reveal much in Tunnel Rhino's stage now, but there is a nice trick that saves a few frames (a few meaning half a second), and it's just as fast not charging up against the miniboss, plus you can actually end up a bit further ahead when the boss is defeated.
Oh, and I finished Neon Tiger yesterday, 526 frames faster than in my last video, giving me a ~1386 frames lead over the last one.
I'm not planning to submit this, so please post all the tricks I missed and things I should improve.
