Well, you could always do a run like that yourself although they'd probably be too similar to have them both published.

Chef Stef, I have some problems to watch your run. I downloaded all USA versions of the game I could find, but there is always a mismatch and make a desynch at the begginning of the game, when Link is going to take the sword. Please help me, it's one of my favorite Zelda games and I want to watch that =D If you could send me the nice rom by mail or a link for it, I'd appreciate it, thanks =)

1.0 should work. Do you have version 19 of VBA-rerecording? Also are you making sure that Left+Right / Up+Down is enabled?

As far as I know it's not necessary to put it on.

Isn't it against the rules to send roms to people?

It seems your right. I figured it would be the same as snes9x.

I just want to see that TAS because I love this game... I'm not asking anyone to post a link for the ROM or anything, but I don't see what the problem is if someone can send me the ROM in a mail or a link by private message... Anyway, if it's really against the rules, I'll be looking for the 1.0 rom =/

So, now the run is up at last:). And it is lovely! Are you going to improve the glitch run now, Stef? I'm sure it could be improved with some seconds at least.

I really love this run. It's among my top 5 movies of this site and I really watched a lot! It definitely deserved the publication!

Yes Chef, thanks for making this video. This game has some special memories for me, and I hadn't played it in years (or seen the GBC remake before) so it was a rather emotional experience.
Working on a mod of an old favorite in my spare time. PM for updates!

Hi there, I've just watched through the posted run and I want to express my congratulations for this. Maybe it's because I have some really strong emotional bonds to this game, but the Zelda DX run IMHO is the run that was most fun for me to watch. It's impressive how little link seriously owns screen by screen full of monsters, seeminly unaffected by physics and game mechanics. This is the one run I'm going to rewatch and rewatch again for sure :-) Thanks! Philip

In regards to my earlier posts... The first one shows the glitch being triggered, the second just shows some of the glitches with chests. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2581/MoreLaGlitches.vbm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2582/Chest%20glitch.vbm In the neither world, you are free to walk through walls, so you can pass from dundeon 1 to 2, and so on (keep walking upward) the maps fail to act properly, but you can walk out the front door of any dungeon to return to the outside world at the entrance of that dungeon, but turn the game back to normal funtion. It seems that you can only get from dungeons 1-4, but there are ways to end up in the later 4 dungeons (I ended up there before, but Im not certain as to how it happened) and possably the windfish egg (though I havent gotten there before, it is probably around there some place).

Twelvepack already deleted this, but I know he wrote:
Found a bug in links awakening a long time ago that could be exploited to beat the game in a very small amount of time, so Ill do my best to explain how to trigger it-- First get the feather and the flippers, and return to the boss room in the first level. (It may work in other holes of this type, but this is the only one I have triggered sucesfully.) fall down any of the holes around the edge of the room, and hold up and you see the graphic of link falling away into the hole. As soon as the screen changes to the side view, press the feather button to jump, and you can cross into a room that is not defined properly in the game. From this room, random objects start acting in ways that they shouldnt, walls count as though they are water (allowing you to swim through open rooms from one dungeon to another, and the contents of chests are changed as well (a chest in level 2 that is supposed to hold some money had the level 2 power bracelt instead). This has a lot of potential to make a glitched run of this game, but the problem is that this would be longer then the existing glitched run (the one that uses the screen warp a lot). So I dont really know if this would lead to a video anyone would want to see, but if anyone has comments, they are appriciated.
yeah, looks interesting. A vbm would be neat...

working on it... Trouble is, I cant think of a good way to get a file that has the feather and the flippers without actually playing the game for 2 hours or so. Think I might just bite the bullet.

[03:23:52] <itsblah> an easy way to get a file with the stuff? just play the movie in super-fast-forward (it gets both the feather and the flippers, last i checked)

Well, another glitch route would be interesting. However, that would make three different "warping" glitch routes (that is, those that skip dungeons) that have been discovered. First one is the obvious screen warp glitch. This route can be done from the beginning of the game, and the time for this run has been clocked at 4:22. Second is the u+d pegasus boots warp glitch. It's doable right after getting the pegasus boots (obviously) in the 3rd dungeon. I estimate that this route would result in a time of about 20 minutes. Third is this new route... it seems like the slowest, since one would have to get to the 4th dungeon and run all the way back to the boss room of the 1st dungeon. This would probably result in a time of 30-35 minutes. It is an interesting glitch (this game has too many :) but it seems like it would be pointless to take such a glitch route given the other options.

I see you are talking glitches again, sounds interesting...:) Is someone going to improve any of the LA runs that's up? As both of them can be improved a bit. Sound like Twelvepack is trying something, hmm. I will gladly help the one who will take the challenge anyway, hehe. I think I got a new bomb&arrow route that's better... Not sure yet though. Twelvepack, if you wanted a save file with some items you can FF my 100% testrun, I presume you use the LA 1.0 Rom, right?http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2515/TestRun.vbm EDIT: By the way, Chef, are you working with Oracle of Ages...?

I know it's been awhile since anyone posted about this but... Was the early tunic glitch in DX figured out? One thing I thought of that no one seemed to mention was the possibility of Bow-Wow's eating of enemies doing something wierd with the points. Unless of course, Bow-Wow did not eat anything when the glitch was executed. Even if it isn't used in a TAS, it would be interesting to know how it works.

True, would be good to know a bit more about that bug. I have no idea how it works at the moment, I didn't try for so long to solve how it works. I may continue to it...

I was doing some testing in this game and found that it's possible to walk over holes when going down. You could only go a distance of one hole though. How it's done is you have to line yourself exactly in the middle of 2 holes. And test which frame to start walking. It only works on certain frames for some reason. Start walking down. Don't press left or right while on the hole. Just keep pressing down. If you started walking on the right frame you should make it across.
