Sounds like a good plan! Then it should be very well done when finished ;P

Heh, no problem. I'm glad to help. I only know the castlevania exit. I got a pretty good idea where the exit from Fuu's level since the game is very linear. It might be located at the very end of the line. I'll check it out. EDIT: Appearencely there isn't an exit on Fuu's level

Yep, I tried every level and those three were all I could find. Maybe we're missing something though... Going to finish version 1 right now, Josh.

Done, finally! Total time is 45:02, with over 7600 rerecords. Now to find my friend and see if he can host my movies... -Josh

Yay! ^_^ Though, if you're just distributing the FMV, I'd recommend just putting it on a Filespace account. Quick, free, and anonymous. And the 5-megabyte limit won't drain foo fast if you only put up FMVs or other small files...I've had my account for a few months now and only used up 200k :)

One extremely minor improvement I noticed when I played through the game myself - in the small areas only Mikey can get through, if you switch to another character it can push you out of the area IF you're close enough to the edge (if you aren't, you'll just get stuck temporarily). [edit] I'm not sure, but I believe this can also be done in normal-height passages by switching to Kong.

the warp for goemon's level is right here: http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/nes2/waiwaiwarp.png also if you didn't already figure it out, you can only use the warps once you've collected that stage's charecter.

You, sir, also rule. I still can't find Kong's exit, though, do you happen to know where that is? Thanks a bunch for this, Josh.

before i read about the warps in this thread I had no idea the game even had any. this game was a favorate when i was younger ( a kid moved to my neigborhood from taiwan and he brought a famicom and a ton ofo games wit hhim...that he consequently traded me for an extra nes i had) and i've been playing this game off and on for years, so needless to say I had to boot it up and find these warps. I've totaly scoured kong's level..and it appears he doesn't have one at all..maybe because his level is so short..and you find him right near the beginning anyways. ps I havn't watched your time attack (yet) but are you aware of the wall clinb glitch/trick? if not, once you get kong if you jump and switch charecters right next to a wall, you can do a double jump just as you switch to kong, if you're fast you can triple jump all the way to the top of high walls , makes some areas faster. anyways glad to see such a great game get some credit :-)

I just watched your movie, overal i'm impressed. a few points: theres a few spots where you could jump over walls (without the wall climb) to get through areas a bit faster 1. when leaving kong's level on your way back on the last section jump over the wall instead of using the ladder. 2. theres some spots in gestuffu's level you can do this too 3.less random jumping/punching in the air would make it look better. but with the new found warps and the wall clinb i'm looking forward to seeing your next run :-)

Thanks for the comments! Man, you actually got to play this game on a Famicom? Lucky bastard. =) The "random" jumping and punching is done to affect enemy item drops. I'll see if I can find a less weird-looking way of doing that. And thank you once again for that glitch. -Josh

Alright, version 2 has begun. Just finished Castlevania in 5:01 (almost a 2-minute improvement). Most of that comes from the hidden exit, but I also killed the boss quite a bit more quickly. I also figured out how to affect randomness better without jumping (holding Up at various times), so I get bullets and hearts whenever I can *and* take a lot less damage than I did before. -Josh

I'm a little ways into Goonies now. Figured out a way to not take any damage in the area with all the purple plants, while maintaining speed, and it looks much cooler now. -Josh

can't wait to see it. be sure to abuse the wall clinb glitch once you get kong/moia it'll help you a great deal :-) (especially in goemon's level)

Thanks. And don't worry, you'll get your fill of glitchness! =) Just finished Goonies, total time is now 9:18 (3:43 faster than v1 already!). I slow down to avoid damage a couple times here, as I am aiming not to have to use the healing room this time. Now for the one level that doesn't have a warp... EDIT: Quietust, your glitch rules. I just tried it in the first small passage in Kong's stage, and there are actually two spots in that passage where it can move you forward. -Josh

And King Kong land is done, with the total time up to 13:50. That was actually faster than Castlevania, even with the hidden exit. I use the squeeze glitch in all of the small passages here, and the wall climb glitch once. I also use Kong to jump over the wall before those flying spaceship things (on the way to the teleporter), rather than going down the stairs and using Mikey to go through the passage. Now it's time for Hell (both literally and figuratively). There's a big decision to make here: Whether or not to grab Fuuma's shurikens. Hmm... -Josh

I personally think it will be worth it, it only requires walking an extra screen or so, and it saves SO much time in the Moai stage (since you can use it to break 3 blocks in one shot). Also, I assume you will be fixing the mistake you made in this level in the previous run; namely, backtracking on the way in to get the cape rather than simply grabbing it on the way out (I don't recall you using the cape at all in that level).

Yep, that's what I'm thinking right about now. Hopefully, with the shurikens, I can move quickly enough through the green dragon hall that I won't have to kill all three of them. And I will be doing things slightly differently in Fuuma's stage...I will grab the cape on the way there, using the walljump glitch so I can get it without backtracking. The hidden exit is a bit to the right of the cape, so it'll waste more time if I get it on the way back. -Josh

Fuuma's stage is done, and the total time is now 17:50 (5:48 faster than v1 now). I got the shuriken, as that is definitely worth it (also lets you have two Fuumas on the screen in that room). This stage also shows off the fact that you can still take damage while teleporting. =P And I tried using the squeeze glitch in normal-sized passageways with Kong; it doesn't work, as he just walks through normally. Ah well... -Josh

Goemon is done in just under 4 minutes, and the total time is now 21:48. This level, even more than any of the others thus far, looks MUCH better than it did in the last version, as I only take 2 hits the whole time. Forgot to mention this, but I didn't, and won't, have to use the healing room this time either. -Josh
