On the DS, you have the option of entering your name, a short comment, your favorite color, and your birthday, and you can choose which language to use. As far as I know, they are properly implemented in DeSmuME (under Config -> Firmware Settings), but they are not recorded in the .dsm when you make a movie. There is at least one game where the RNG is affected by them, so they need to be recorded in the movie file. (Which game it is is a surprise, but I will give you a hint: colors play an important role.)

Would this be Pokemon mystery dungeon when it chooses you aura? I head whatever your favourite colour chosen is the colour of you aura. I agree they should be added to the movie file.

Nope! The one I know of is Rubik's World, which I was keeping a secret until today. But another game that uses them is another reason to record them!

We need birthday setting for castlevania POR, it allow to buy the birthday cake subweapon in the shop (its like darts, very powerfull), this by itself may obsolete current movie. Also, if anything revelant, maybe set the current date to the release date of the game and not 1970 ??? maybe its not a good idea for the troubles you may have to find a date, but what is sure is nobody could play ds in 1970, so its a moot date, at least make it default to ds release date ?

Also, we need to be able to set the date and time (or can we already?), as Pokemon DPP seed their RNGs off the clock.

The point is apparently you can set those stuffs in firmware setting, but not in a movie.

The date can't be set to 1970. The only valid values are BCD 00h - 99h, and they are to be interpreted as 2000 - 2099. If a game displays 1970 for the year, it's an error.
