It appears to be a comparison between: 1. The new TAS (top left) 2. Toobou's WR RTA (top right) 3. The 2010 TAS (bottom left)

There's still some minor improvements to be implemented; namely, the Petey RNG in Bianco 5 wasn't optimal for the third cycle.

I got 2 questions. 1. For pinaata village, is it possible to get to that secret stage as soon as you enter the place? Or does it not exist until you reach that point? 2. Can you clip into that gate in bianco hills or use OoB, thus skipping 2 petey fights?

As far as I can tell, this means that an any% TAS of this game should ideally be done on the PAL version with Italian text: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98VhrlTp5FE Japanese is no longer the fastest language at this point and even if you consider the fact that the NTSC Ferris Wheel is like 2-3 seconds faster than PAL, Italian text is still too strong. Not to mention Sirena 6 has better conditions on any version that isn't Japanese, so that would probably save some time as well.

LOL! Also what did you mean by "better conditions"? Are you talking about the King Boo fight?

Text speed is explicitly considered to be ignored when judging which run is faster.

Sirena 6 is "scrubbing the beach".

On JP, goop will become invisible sometimes and it can still hurt you. Also I think you need to clean more goop on JP compared to other versions.

Alright, but currently there aren't 2 runs which can be compared to each other, only one. So if you make another, why not do it properly with the best possible settings?

Awesome timesaver in Sirena 4 Link to video Also, I agree with HP that it would be better on PAL + Italian (Not just from text, but from version differences), but it would probably be too much of a hassle to change that now.

Kinikola has discovered how to water slide while holding fruit: Link to video Link to video doubt this could be implemented in the any% TAS, but it could very likely come in handy for 120 shines

You can also waterslide while riding Yoshi, but the only place I know you can do this is in Bianco Hills by the gate in the village after the starting section with the waterslide. You have to walk on one of those tiny slopes which you'll slide off of into the water below (this can also put you into a sitting waterslide, which is interesting). I have also done watersliding with fruit here a while back, but it's great to see that there are more places to do it now and that it may have some use in a run. It's probably not useful at all, but one interesting thing to note is while you're watersliding on Yoshi, you cannot be knocked back if you slide into a wall while moving fast.

What happens if you get a blue coin and a shine at the same time? Like touching the shine or landing on the ground after touching the shine & blue coin message. Would love it if someone tests it - in particular, I was thinking of Gelato 2, Yoshi tongue-pulling blue birds and grabbing the shine simultenously.

The current 100% runs spawn blue coins, grab a shine and then collect the spawned blue coin during the Shine Got cutscene skipping the 'do you want to save message' of the blue coin if that answers your question? I wan't to say Gelato Beach 1 and Pianta Village Shine where you have to wash the goop off the Piantas do this. Edit; Actually looking at stelzigs latest run he does the Gellato beach one in Episode 2, but from what I can tell Episode 3 would be more efficient. And The Pianta Village shine I describe is Episode 6.

Seems like the odd hitbox glitch is fixed for dolphin. :D Also which region version is the TAS going to be?

Didn't someone find out about the PAL version being the fastest when Italian text is active? EDIT: It was HiddenPower13 who provided a comparison video on pg 18 of this forum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98VhrlTp5FE

Nice, but I'm guessing "scrubbing Sirena" is still bugged? It seems that the PAL version with italian language setting is the fastest to use - it was said to save ~9 seconds over JP just from faster text, and I think it was said that PAL runs a little faster than NTSC. Additionally, you can clear a bit less goop in "scrubbing Sirena" on PAL (~80% compared to Japanese 95%).

The text thing about Italian vs. Japanese is correct, but the game speed is not. Despite updating 0.03 frames extra per second, stelzig proved that the versions run at the same speed.

Scrubbing Serena Beach works properly in Dolphin now, and has for quite a while. Bad video card settings (forcing anti-aliasing, for instance) can cause problems, and certain video cards/drivers can't up the IR without the goop glitching out. The cutscene skip used in speedruns involving killing yourself by fazing through one of the roofs on Delfino plaza should work now as well. I'd use very, very recent versions of Dolphin, though, as it was fixed within the last 300 revisions.

Scrubbing Serena Beach has been accurate in Dolphin since 4.0. 4.0-1706 fixed the cutscene skip. You do the cutscene skip by killing yourself as you get in range of the cutscene. In Dolphin when clipping out of bounds to perform it, there used to be an invisible wall. I got it on my first try after this build was released. For more information, it was featured in the May progress report and the build can be found here - https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/cffa848b9960bcf3dd7a5f3dfd8cdbe417b6ec55/
