Quick question. Why are there no actual submissions on TASVideos of the completely awesome any% runs people did? I've always wondered this. Especially the 1:09 TAS?

Sup-optimal maybe? Also, there was a bug on serenia island that plagued this game for years on Dolphin. I think they finally fixed it for real last month.

Well, and also it is ultimately a person's choice to upload their run here. Though most full TAS runs are uploaded here, not everyone decides to I guess. Although it still confuses me why the 1:09 player didn't; it was really amazing and just about everyone here with sense would love it. It would be one of the best TASes ever submitted.

It was fixed for Direct3D 12 last month. It has been working in the other backends for much longer than that.

Pinna Park 5 skip is a major improvement over that run. There are probably lots of minor improvements as well.

Something is better than nothing. New tricks are always found. If everyone stays their hand because they're afraid some new trick will be found that obsoletes their time, then there's never going to be a run made.

That's right, and all the hard work that came into making that awesome run should never be put to shame, even if it was obsoleted by 10 whole minutes! I mean, it'd likely take me years to complete a 1 hour run of a 3-D game that was that complex. (complex as in angling takes a hell of a lot of time) Obviously, most TASers have more time or are less cautious than me, but just speaking from my perspective anyway.

In fact, it is possible to access Pianta Village before starting Bianco Hills by Wall Jumping to the top of the Shine Gate and entering the Warp Pipe that leads there (the small cutscene that zooms in on the Warp Pipe may not show).
Are there any videos that show this phenomenon?

The zooming doesn't take place when you go to pianta before raising the plaza statue. (I think.)

Does collecting the first 7 Shine Sprites in Pianta Village before raising the plaza statue change the cutscene sequence in Delfino Plaza?

sand blocks respawning are ejecting mario upwards when he's partially inside their default position

Link to video - In Delfino Plaza, if you go near defeated shadow mario and then a blue coin graffiti cutscene is triggered right after, the game will either softlock or it will bring up shadow mario's text but shadow mario will already have moved to the next location. - If you go near defeated shadow mario while touching the 100th coin at the same time, thus triggering the 100 coin shine cutscene, it will "store" the event that makes shadow mario move to the next location (or so is my assumption). Going near shadow mario does nothing now. But talking to anyone else will trigger the event. Ideas for glitch hunting: - Trigger 100th coin while going into the Pinna Park cutscene in Delfino Plaza, if possible. Alternatively, trigger 100th coin while entering any other cutscene (enter pipe or loading zone). Will it cause the fadeout to be stored? - In Delfino Plaza, trigger blue coin graffiti cutscene after the "entering Ricco" cutscene starts. - Touch 8th red coin while touching 100th coin <-- Plays the two cutscenes one after the other. - Touch blue coin while touching 100th yellow coin. <-- Plays the two cutscenes one after the other. - Touch shadow mario waiting at statue while touching 100th coin. <-- Plays the two cutscenes one after the other.

Actually it's a bug related to groundpounding and the game messing up because it can't calculate your altitude above or below certain terrain. I have a video about this too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnkgu6srgZM

I'm participating in a Twitch Plays of this game and we encountered a bug in the death river stage where the lily pad went out of bounds. It looks like it hit the corner at a precise angle which allowed it to clip. I vaguely recall seeing something like this ~8+ years ago, but I don't remember how it was triggered or if it has any applications in any runs. You can find the clip here: https://clips.twitch.tv/twitchplayspapermario/FancyOysterRiPepperonis

The minimum shine sprites needed to beat the game is 44. The fifth shine sprite in Pinna Park. Just re-select the third shine sprite from that area after getting the forth one there. I wonder if it is possible to get blue coins to spawn indefinitely. It'll take a while to get 999 blue coins so that we can get more than 120 shine sprites.
