Hey, just wondering if anybody else has discovered abuseable glitches or tricks in this game? I dunno if you guys already know of this one. In missions level 5, the boss I think is Big Bombomb, whom I prefer to call King Bombomb. He can be killed really, really, fast thanks to some really cool oversights. One, the boss often doesn't properly execute a proper Bombomb toss when you can't see King Bombomb on the top screen (so I believe that the throwing command is actually executed through the animation on the top screen somehow). For the record, this works best when I boost into him from the start and then turn right to collect an item. The point is I am looking away from him, and he tosses the bomb into himself somehow. When he recovers from the first explosion, I toss the Bomb I've acquired into him. One more hit left. This time, he jumps, and drops three bombs and an item box in the midst of them. I collect the item box and wait where it had originally spawned, since the Bomb explosions can't hit me there anyway. King Bombomb is supposed to land where the item box spawns, so he lands on me, the bomb I have explodes, kills him, and I win with 3 stars without having taken any damage since there wasn't enough time for the game to register my character's damage. Pretty neat huh? Overall I think the game was pretty solidly designed, but could there be anything else you guys have seen?

Mario Kart DS will be a very entertaining game to TAS, thanks to glitches like Prolonged Rocket Boosting (PRB). Basically, if you keep the kart at maximum speed (doing mini turbo's faster than humanly possible) then the kart can go over any terrain. The are a few shortcuts on some levels that have been discovered too. But first things first, we need a reliable DS emulator!

No$GBA does DS games fairly well (though sound is terrible, but that may be my pc only barely achieving full speed).

Yeah, but no$gba doesn't do nothing but running the game... doesn't even support savestates for DS games, let alone re-recording. And it's not open source.

It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

Shame, DeSmuME is still looking far from finished too. But it looks like it is open source so hopefully we will be TASing DS games soon. Anyway, i have a different game in mind for doing a run of when we have a working DS emulator.

Not to mention that the author of no$gba hates the idea of open source because RMS punched him in the face and ate his children or something. I don't know.

I decieded to give this game a spin to determine the suitability of this game for TASing. As it turned out, this game is much harder to TAS than I initially suspected and beating any of the WR's remains quite a difficult task. Nonetheless, I managed to come about 0.1 seconds ahead of the best polt f8c first lap but as you can see, it's not going to go much lower than this. Incidently, polt was used because unlocking BLS would take too long. Video of the aforementioned run.

Well, you certainly did a better job than me, doing a MT in frame advance is a skill that still eludes me. But i would imagine that this would be a good game for TASing once you get the hang of it. Which you did.

Luigi's PG3000 kart is better in general then yoshi's egg kart. Even better would be the ROB-BLS, but that begins locked. Some other karts are still more preferable for certain courses. Character choice doesn't actually matter in TAS's, because when TASing you can make use of the PRB (prolonged rocket boost) glitch, which renders your kart effectively weightless. Hope that helped

Sorry, I didn't mean to comment on this forum. It was for another game. Sorry again, federeriscol.

Adelikat streamed a tutorial to find memory addresses. It was also recorded and can be seen here. I hope that will help you, if not I'm sure that people could help you out to find useful addresses for the game.

I would love to see a TAS of the mission mode from this game.
you mean a complete TAS from Mission 1-1 to Mission 7-Boss? I've tried making standalone TASes of some Missions, but succeded only once (or twice if you consider beating the human record by 1 frame succeding), that TAS is in the first page nobody in the MK community cares about Missions (except me) so I doubt Huffle will ever try them
