About me
Hi I'm Comicalflop, I'm 19 years old, and I live in Massachusetts. I joined this site 2006-06-13, after spending months browsing around. I first got into TASing when in 2004 my brother showed me Morimoto's SMB3 TAS and I started thinking about speedrunning videogames. Through my initial feeble attempts with Super Mario World and ZSNES, I offhandedly discovered this site, and dove right into making a Donkey Kong Country 2 TAS. I was made an editor as of 2006-12-04, to which I try to make some interesting and informative pages. I have this tendency to get easily distracted and start thinking about/working on different projects, even though I'm supposed to be focusing on only one major one, but I can't help who I am now can I? I TAS many games that I have never played, and sometimes never even heard of before; this is evident by one of my published runs. Because of this, I am of the opinion that you generally do not have to be a complete master at a game to TAS it; dedication usually wins in the end (although being a master is required for some games, and helpful for most.)
I should probably make an opinions page like a few other members did, I have many strong opinions about the site as well.

- Donkey Kong Country Tricks- Needs updating
- Super Mario Kart Physics
- Zelda Ocarina Of Time Tricks
- Super Mario 64 Tricks
- OoT 100% TAS Route, OoT new any% TAS route v3- I personally no longer need these, but they're here to be here if someone needs them.
- Zelda A Link To The Past Tricks- I should probably, like, add content to this page, it's a little bare, especially since the rate of new tricks is declining.
- N64 Wishlist- Main Site. This project sort of died, but I'm positive my efforts have made N64 TASing increase a little, which was my intended goal. Most of the N64 ROMs have information, however my editing duties seem to have expired, so I should move the info from the .schtuff site to here.
Wetrix 1 Minute Challenge Mode. Cancelled. Deign beat my score by a long shot. My run was accepted and paved the way for another N64 movie to be published, so I'm glad in that regard at least.
SSB High Score Time Attack. Rejected. Man was this one controversial; SSB is cursed it seems. But for anyone that wants to see: Downloadable SSB High Score TAS

Workbench
- Super Monkey Ball Jr. Go vote!
I start runs more than I finish, so the workbench does not see movies from me very often. My main projects are massive ones, so those that are more anticipated by the community will not see submission for a long time, especially since I usually am stuck doing more than one at a time and I have real life things getting in the way.
Current Projects
- Mischief Makers
- Shake Shake! Obsolete Nitsuja's fantastic WIP with new strategies/tricks, precision and memory watching, then complete the movie and submit. I'm gaining far more time than I ever thought possible (this game is silly putty in my hands), and also discovering new techniques (both small and major), because of this I have high hopes for the end result.
Current, yet not-quite-current/waiting
- Some Secret GBA game
- P.JBoy is helping me out with the run.
- Mario Kart 64 150cc GP 4 cups
- There's now a mupen from okaygo that (while not the final version, or fully accepted by judges) lets me record resets and seems to synch just fine.
- Ocarina of Time Completely new discoveries involving Bottle Adventure and Reverse Bottle Adventure leading to a possible sub 1:45 movie. I'm helping GuanoBowl out whenever I can, even without actively TASing it; I'm also assisting DaShiznawz in learning how to TAS.
- DKC2 102% Improvement Arne_the_great is finally done with any%, so I can now work on this. Can't bring it to a current project yet until said current list is smaller, and Arne and I start hunting for strategies and glitches.
- Restarting from the beginning for the 10th time, because of more frames of precision that is to be had in the first two worlds.
The Juggling/Upcoming Projects
Let's face it, I'm distractible. I enjoy experimenting with new games that are either my favorites or appealing to me, so I can easily drop one run and say "ooh, I wanna work on this instead! And that one! And that one!" etc. etc. And collect too many to do at once.
Not all games listed here will become a run for me. I want them all to eventually; some may, some may not. This be the list of what I should *not* be doing at the moment, and wait to do later.
- Jet Force Gemini Restart from the beginning, once everything has cooled down and more of my projects are done.
- I do not believe that TASvideos.org is currently ready for a 4+ hour N64 movie. Too many whiny members would vote no on it for all the wrong reasons, and I see it would be an uphill battle to complete it, and an even more uphill battle to get it published. There is nothing wrong with the game and the TAS itself; the problem is in the loud, noisy viewers who cannot fathom that a 4 hour N64 TAS can be entertaining. I will eventually finish this in a long, long time from now.
- Star Fox 64 High Score Red Line with Vidar
- Waiting for both of us to have less projects. I say that with confidence like that will happen ^_^ Or even that both of us will be ready to co-author when the time comes.
- Castlevania HoD - Longer Maxim run
- Well, I made one Maxim movie, but he deserves more love, i.e. a longer run. Only restriction: no wall sinking aka no going into the walls, thus beating the bosses is required to fight Dracula. First I need a route that tells me what to do when, which bosses to fight in what order; I've so far been working on my own with it, but that won't last long, I need a knowledgeable person (Kaz, zggzdydp, someone!) to help me figure out the best order to fight the bosses and create a route.
- Castlevania HoD - Juste Glitched
- Currently 20 frames faster than zggzdydp's, and not inside the castle yet. Too many people complained that his use of turboing means it's incredibly unoptimal, and there are a few mistakes/things I'd do differently though to see how much faster and more entertaining it could be.
- Wetrix Classic Mode
- Deign and I calculated the maximum score possible for the game, so now the classic mode can be TASed with the goal of max the score in the shortest amount of time possible.
Please don't distract me even more with suggestions! (unless it's really, really, good.) I like fast paced, high action games the most.

Wall of Shame
I tended to frantically search for different TASes to work on, since I get TAS withdrawl if I'm not working on runs. I'd pick up and drop runs left and right, though thankfully as of now I have strong runs that I'm going to see to completion.
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards 100%
- It's easy to make, but overall not entertaining/fast. Someone else may do this.
- Kirby Dreamland 3: 100%
- It's faster paced than Kirby 64 100%, however the possibility of 2 player was daunting to me, and I lost interest, despite having discovered turbo Coo flying for fastest movement.
- Rayman 2: The Great Escape any%
- Mega huge/frequent desynchs, a four hour long projected movie, but biggest of all the boss consistently disappears in the 7th level, so I can't beat him. Plus, the fact that Rayman's turning always caused the camera to move in bad ways made it impossible to always go in straight lines. And, many new discoveries came out that beat my WIP and that I would have missed later in the game.
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island 100%
- good thing I gave up after barely 2 days of trying it. I've always wanted to do YI, but now there's no room for me to, especially since the glitched was completed before I started, any% category isn't needed anymore, and 100% I shouldn't do/is covered.
- Starcraft 64
- I had many problems when starting. I've fixed them now (I hope), but the Exp Pak desynchs will likely remain...
- Donkey Kong Country series Tri run
- This was a bad idea to even suggest. I've realized that there's too much frenzy with bigame runs going on
- Perfect Dark
- yeah, desynching games suck. I couldn't even get past the menu because it was so desynchy. Good luck to L4yer to work on it.
- Duke Nukem 64
- AKA finished this one; I had too much on my plate to help out.
- Super Mario Kart 150cc Bowser all cups run. Co-authored with Huffers for a while. He had accomplished more than I did, I had not as much skill in item manipulation, Huffers has his own luck-bot which is Linux only, and I switched to MK64.
- Legend of Zelda FDS Warp Glitch with Michael Fried
- Had some FCEU problems with this one, needed to pull out. I hope Fried finishes though, the warp glitch with whistle/boomerang is kind of cool.
- Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 100%
- Wow a tricky game to TAS that requires a lot of knowledge of the game, knowing how to mathematically plan out how Link gets where and how, and many other intricate tricks, quirks and mechanics. At least I got to experiment with it a bit to help get the Exploration Glitch run improved.
- Yoshi Story 100%. Same situation as OoT 100%, started a WIP but best suited for a record reset mupen. Also, the fact that the 100% goal has never been fully explored means that there is a *lot* of planning and route finding to do, something that is not one of my strongest points.
- There's a record reset mupen, but still no need or motivation to work on it.
