I agree with £e Nécroyeur and Patashu. Also, this run is very surprising (because how much speedy) and entertaining (for a SMS/GG game), although I find the bosses repetitive. Once again you did a great work. Yes vote. And thanks for the "magical (or lua)" encode.

Cool! Save those frames. I'll go ahead and cancel this one.
Since I made the improvements inside of your movie (and I'm added myself as a co-author), you didn't need to cancel.

I watched this run and while was checking this run, I stumbled with more improvements (I haven't calculated exactly how much frames I saved on these rooms): - earlier menuing on the pebbles path - slingshot path - giant enemy (the most difficulty path to optimize) - earlier exit on the shield path - castle entrance (probably is also present on the first published run of this game, i think) - earlier end input Also, I noted that after the end input, this run and the published run ends with this screen (you need to wait approximately 143 frames after the last input). But if you press a button on this screen, an another screen appears (also present on the first published run of this game, although another button was pressed to finish this screen). After this extra screen, the game restarts. I don't know if the extra screen can be a good choice, but I decided to post both movie files (total improvement - 63 frames): with extra screen - Header changed (but longer input) without extra screen (but still end input earlier) - Header unchanged Since I'm not familiar with this game (I only played a bit, sometime ago), I don't know if there are more paths to improve (or probably will loss with a later desync). EDIT: Someone voted no, but it wasn't me. :p

I forgot to answer before: Although I'm not familiar with the previous run, why this run was TASed on the (J) version?

Very impressive how much time can be saved with both skips! A sub-13 minute TAS is now possible with this :p

Watched the new run. Nice that the Airman improvement saved a good amount of time even with the new route.

Great work Mothrayas! Although this port lacks several music stages, this run (as well as the "other run") was entertaining. The battles are well optimized. But I have some questions: - The Airman battle can be improved by manipulating a certain attack which you can attack without stunning him: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/43534834145079068 - I don't know if could be useful, but, if you defeat a boss (while in off-screen) the score pickups will start to fall instantly: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/43534852190957284 - Also, on the battles where the powerups are collected (except on Gyroman and Airman battles), could be faster also collecting all pickups instead of wait?

There's a tutorial about encoding (also it helped me with the 2 avi files): http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16971

I started a new run of Cadash: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/43498132821178618 2 players, speed differences and extra lags (with 2 players) is difficulty to optimize. So, I'm posting this WIP for just showing progress. This route is still possible to optimize.

Great work. Glad to see a well done TAS of demo%. There is a bit more known about the game than is mentioned in the submission message. Here's a link to the speedrun.com page: https://www.speedrun.com/Porky_Pigs_Haunted_Holiday/guides I've used this game as a starting point for learning more about TAS, SNES memory, and speedrunning in general. I'm sure other people with more experience can easily expand on my notes from messing around with this game.
This is cool! Thanks for sharing this. Now I understand why that wrap on the hidden room was possible.

Added stage-by-stage commentary and added about the slowdown movement and weather that I forgot on the submission.

It's nice to have a game from my childhood being TASed
I also enjoyed playing this game during my childhood (but I played on emulator. Also, at the time, was the 'beta' ROM!). That's why I TASed this game (now twice).

I haven't found a topic for this game so I'll create one. Well, several months ago, I started to research this game and I discovered/found several improvements for the published run (this run was published on 2006, but was submitted on 2005! Also, another run of 'The First 500'): - With the help of memory address, I noted that the mage is actually stronger than fighter, because some of your spells (including the 2nd spell) does 40 damage on enemies/bosses. So, during the first stage, getting to level 3 with mage, you gain the second spell. - Also, no matter which weapon or spell does damage on the second (actually third) boss (worm), only 10 hits is necessary to defeat him. - For these reasons above, buying the fire sword on the shop before stage 3 no longer is necessary. So, destroy the enemies with the spell. - With the help of jump on mid-air glitch, with 2 players and with 2 continues, since you need to scroll up a bit (because otherwise, it fails), finally found a shortcut on this game!: Link to video - I discovered this glitch by accident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ_Wejsl5w4 - With 2 players, when the princess appears after the conversation with the ''fake'' king, you can skip the princess's dialogue by entering the door again, saving some seconds. Addresses: http://tasvideos.org/Addresses-106.html (X and Y speeds must be set on 4-byte to see the real speed of both players, and leveling up increases the speed a bit - agility)

Well, I submitted that run exactly a year ago. So, for the 1-year completion, I TASed the training levels: Input file (BizHawk 2.2.1): http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/43317524009703471 Encode: Link to video EDIT 03/12: Encode replaced. Now with much better quality. I don't intend to submit this mode because unlike the 'normal game', there are not much action to see (only optimizations). Also, the X minutes left doesn't exist on this mode. EDIT 01/04/2018: Changed my mind (1st april)

Since this demo % TAS is obviously better than the full TAS, should I remove from consideration the full TAS? Or, is it at all useful archived or something?
I don't know exactly if a full TAS still could be possible to accept, because since the published run is in the vault, probably the ''demo%'' could be considered to a fastest ''any%'' run (I think).

I have worked on ''demo glitch'' TAS and comparing by framecounter (from the beginning of the second half of stage 5 until the end input on the last boss), it's 477 frames faster on these levels (actually I improved more paths on stage 6, but lost due of a global timer on the chain swings - you need to wait until the rope reaches exactly where is possible to proceed - on the first bathroom room). Another possible improvement for all levels is more lag reduction. Link: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/62287509/porkypigshauntedholiday-demoglitch.bk2 (almost completely optimized. Some more lag reduction could be possible, I think)

Since a frame difference would mean different weather/background on every stage of the game. And that would cause each screen to load slower/faster by a few frames to many frames. And that would cause the swinging chains and balls to be in different places.
Oh! Never noted this when I worked on my run before. I decided to TAS this game again to include the demo glitch. EDIT: Found some paths that is slower than my run (Actually there are more paths that I haven't checked yet). Strong No vote!!!

I found 2 months ago, on youtube, 2 videos that shows 2 different ways to warp to the credits! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioqqjtXKCtw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m1Oj4MF2tY Now both Startropics has a possibility at warp to the credits.
