This movie was the result of around 2 months of procrastination because of life.
Introduction:
- "-PURSUIT-" is a Flash point-and-click adventure game created by Godlimations which was released to Newgrounds in 2006. This game is part of the -TRAPPED- trilogy. (-TRAPPED-, -PURSUIT-, and -ESCAPE- in that order) It's also known for Dialla's voice actress Kira Buckland as her career popped off after this. (Voicing 2B and Jolyne from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure). A quick summary of this game is that you have to try and find Dan McNeely's hideout hidden within the sewers for some reason with Dan killing Mickey Lee near the end.
Routing/Optimization:
Apartment Complex:
- Unlike the previous game, there's a lot of clickable actions offscreen. In the first section of the game, we need 6 items before the game allows us to leave our apartment. Usually, we would have to transition through different rooms to get said items. Almost everything is obtainable offscreen, the only exception is the paper note on the flower pot. After that, the cutscene plays out and we need to evacuate by selecting the window. This can also be done offscreen.
Locked in Car:
- While the second cutscene is playing, near the end of said cutscene, super glue is obtainable offscreen as well. After that, The only action that we can do offscreen is to turn on the car light to get the first half of the screwdriver. Everything else is trivial up until we get out of the car.
Shop and Sewers:
- Instantly, we obtain the gasoline and greasy oil offscreen and perform a cutscene skip via selecting the broken wall area offscreen. Clicking on this specific area will always bring you to this exact area with no transition delay. We break down the wall using the knife and use Growly as a rag with the oil. The power switch is conveniently offscreen and the flickering lights is on a constant cycle. So, I do sadly have to wait for the lights to obtain the rope. During every transition, I try to select items whenever I can to save time making/combining items. (P.S. I implemented a 1 second time save during making these notes due to a transition optimization). Anyways, the only way to obtain the blowtorch is by giving the fish to the cat.
Dan McNeely's Hideout:
- During the second to last cutscene, if you select on the power switch offscreen at a specific moment, You can skip the cutscene. However, if you have nothing in your hands when you perform this skip, it freezes the item bar for some odd reason. This is why I have the lightbulb already selected. Everything else past this is trivial.
