"You gonna slam dunk me, Atari?"
Note: Since I finished this encode, I improved the TAS by 5 frames by removing the first jump.
Basketball is a sports game for the Atari 2600, programmed by Alan Miller in 1978. It's a one-on-one game of basketball. This game can either be played with a second player or against a computer player. Who can shoot the most hoops in four minutes?
Objectives
- Wins a game against a computer player
- Emulator: BizHawk 2.11.0 (Stella core)
Notes
When in a single-player game, you control Lavender (Player 2) and the CPU controls Green (Player 1). When the jump ball is thrown at the start of the game, no one can grab it until it has touched the floor. I get Lavender to grab the ball as soon as possible, and jump and score as soon as possible. As the ball is flying to the hoop, I move down the court and end input early. When a goal happens, Lavender will always get teleported horizontally to a specific position, but not vertically. If not intercepted, Green will always score a goal, so I move Lavender down in Green's path. Lavender automatically steals the ball from Green and continuously dribbles it. Green, completely unsure of what to do, dances back and forth. Reminds me of this clip from The Simpsons, haha.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get back to figuring out how I can get a basketball court in low-earth orbit. I want to be the first player to score a three-pointer in outer space. How am I gonna stop the players and basketballs from flying into the depths of space? Uhhhh... you're gonna have to get back to me on that one. - Walgrey
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: As with your #10189: Walgrey's A2600 Championship Soccer in 00:06.241 submission, I see the same left of effort and outcome. Good job on this!
