Tricks and Glitches

Take damage without falling off

Normally, taking damage would make your character fall off the board, but it can be prevented by jumping on the 1st possible frame before falling off. Only works on curbs or specific objects.

Snap on

You can jump by pressing Triangle, Circle or Square. If you press square and then press square 3-4 frames after jumping onto a platform, it will snap the character onto it instantly.

Railboost

This glitch feels rather random, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Press square/triangle/circle before jumping over a railing/fence and it will eject you forward.

Zip

Only done on the 2nd level. Jump precisely into the edge of a pillar and it will push you into the air.

Fall through the floor

Can be achieved by falling into the floor from either a jump or running into objects/walls from a standstill in a specific angle. Extremely hard to get.

Upside down wallride

You can ride on walls by pressing L1 + Square + left or right. If you wallride after jumping off of a halfpipe with a wall nearby, the character will be put upside down. This happens because the character is in a different position before executing the wallride. You can turn the character around by pressing square again but it's difficult to not crash.

Regain balance or turning around faster

When you character faces the opposite way after coming down from a jump, you can press triangle/square/circle to make them turn around faster.

Delayed handplant

Done by pressing R1 + x at a nearby slope/halfpipe with a wall. If you come in contact with a wall, the character will be pushed back and briefly get stunned. Doing the handplant during this will freeze the character in place until the stun is finished, the handplant will be performed after.

Unusual softlock

This is not a crazy out of bounds trick, it's rather simple. You can get softlocked by jumping onto a set of stairs with a nearby railing. If you jump into a railing and should it push your character onto one of the steps, you will enter a glitchy state where you are just standing there with a misplaced board. You can still use x to accelerate but the character is stuck in place.

Make grind trick text disappear

When you grind on rails or edges, a text with the inputed trick will appear. By jumping on the 1st possible frame before doing the grind trick, the text will not show up.

Ragdolling and out of bounds

Ragdolling is the most broken part of the game. When your character falls off the board, they will ragdoll around for a few seconds before coming to a stop. Because your character only has 100 hp, you can only fall off the board so many times before it breaks. What's interesting about ragdolling is the fact that you can actually control where the character moves during the ragdolling. This can only be done with the D-Pad. Your character takes more damage when they get stuck or fall on their head. It's possible to not take damage at all as well if manipulated correctly.
Now that may not seem interesting at first, but combined with the weird collision of walls and objects, you can drag the character up walls and even out of bounds with this. Ragdolling can also be chained indefinitely if given infinite hp. Should your character be midair when the ragdolling ends, they will just be placed midair.
What about out of bounds?
Out of bounds is not that interesting to be honest. After ragdolling up a wall and once ontop of the stage, you will find yourself surrounded by invisible walls. These walls cannot be driven through, but they can be jumped through. You will fall into the void and either spawn back on top of the stage, or somewhere in the stage depending on where you jumped into the void.

Controls

D-Pad = Movement, holding down will make your character stop on flat surface
X = accelerate
Circle = jump (switch stance 180, tricks that are named "nollie heelflip" are now named "fakie heelflip"
Square = jump (ollie (nollie))
Triangle = jump (your tricks)
L1 and R1 = nollie trick combos
L2 and R2 = "lean in" meaning if you are midair you can make your character lean into a direction if held, similar to holding up/down or left/right midair

Idea of tasing this game

I decided to make a playaround tas for this game because i wasn't too familiar with the best possible tricks and trick combos at first. Even with the current knowledge i have now, i wouldn't be able to make a super optimized any% speedrun of this game, because there are so many ways to get points fast by chaining tricks and grind tricks (wallrides as well) together. Im glad i made a playaround of this game for now. I can show off so many glitches i otherwise wouldn't be able to.

Cop

In the last 10 seconds of some stages a cop will arrive who will try to chase and subdue you. If you do tricks while the cop is chasing you, your points will get tripled. You can further upgrade the multiplier by doing risky tricks while he's chasing you. I suspect you could get a double digit multiplier in Subway if you jump over the incoming train from the "halfpipe" in the corner.

Game crash

For whatever reason, the game really likes to crash if you were to go in an unintended area like instant crash zones in Embarcadero (the water) or getting hit by the train in Subway or the Tram in The Hills. The game also crashed for me multiple times when i was doing frameperfect inputs in the menu before a stage.
If i missed any information i will add it later, let's get to the stages.

Stage by stage comments

1. Hometown: Industrial

Nothing jawdropping on this level. The first fall through the floor felt kind of random because i tried to recreate the same scenario in other levels, but it wouldn't work. Something is up with this wall. At the end i jumped onto the wall to escape the cop. When you fall into the void while the cop is chasing you, you can respawn somewhere far away from him, thus making it count as "losing the cop".

2. New York: Subway

I can't tell you how lucky someone needs to be in order to find this upwarp zip on the beam. This zip only seems to work if the character is facing a specific way. Not only that, you also need to touch both the ground and the beam at the same time. You can only get to the hidden area in this level if you use the slope in the corner of the stage, but the wall will always make your character crash. I found a way to get into the hidden area with the opposite slope. I got into the area without crashing or destroying the glass. Nothing really in this area, except for an exit. Once you want to leave this area, you will either have to jump back down where the glass and stairs are, or jump through the wall that would make your character crash. But it's possible to jump through the wall without crashing if you do a frameprecise trick.
We go out of bounds here by using the slope and cancelling the "exit area" text. Because we jumped into the text midair, it spawns us ontop of the map. Although we unlocked the ability to wallride from the previous level, i didn't really understand how to input the trick, it's kind of weird. At the end i drive into the train and ragdoll a bit. This train can crash your game if you jump into it in a weird angle.

3. New York: Washington Square

Much simpler level with lots of locations for tricks. Only noteworthy part is the gate in the middle of the stage which you can jump ontop of. You cannot jump down from this gate, because fall damage would be too great and make you lose your board. The fall through the floor near the checkered table was found randomly.

4. New York: Brooklyn Banks

There is no cop in this level, so im free to exit the level whenever i want. Still, i always try to show as much of the level as possible before leaving. Weird glitch when i jump onto the bank, i don't know how i didn't fall off the board from that.
You can find one of the exits of this level on this bridge. It's possible to jump around the exit, but it's absurdly precise. The bridge is transparent anyway. The exit trigger extends all the way down, so at the end i just jump into the side of the bridge and exit the level.

5. Los Angeles: Venice Beach

The first time i make use of the weird ragdolling physics. The crash near the photo stand-ins was found accidentally after i got a little too close to it. Ending the level by jumping into the void to escape the burglar.

6. Los Angeles: La River

The jump onto the destroyed bus is actually really hard, because your character would sometimes take a moment to regain their balance after jumping onto it. After jumping onto it, i do another jump + wallride to get to the upper level. There is only 1 frame where you can press x to grind on the edge. Another weird glitch i found is the sudden speedboost after crashing into the 3 barrels. No idea where that speed came from. The next jump onto another bus feels like an easter egg, because if you jump onto it, music plays.

7. Los Angeles: Courthouse

No cop here. I haven't found any glitches in this stage, only the "snap on" by using square was found. You can re-wallride on a wall if you have enough airtime. You can cancel the wallride by pressing square immediately to gain extra height. If you press x at the end to exit the level 1 frame early, the game will crash.

8. San Francisco: China Banks

There is a "zip" you can do in this level if you go near the edge of the slope found here:

Quite confusing how the game handles the positioning of the character. I also fell through the wall a little later by being incredibly close and then driving into it. I lost the cop at the end by respawning somewhere else before he could zap me.

9. San Francisco: The Hills

Nothing noteworthy here except the fall through the floor at the end. I still had a few seconds to spare, so i cannot fall through the floor immediately or else the police dog will bite me.

10. San Francisco: Embarcadero

The glitch i found here was the "get stuck in wall" glitch. If you jump into the corner of two walls, your character may get stuck. This is not a softlock, because the game will place you back in the stage after the ragdolling timer runs out.
At the end i was wondering how my character kept driving into the wall. Turns out that wall can be jumped through. I didn't jump through and instead crashed in a funny way. No cop here.

11. International: South Bank

My favorite level because so much is happening. The sudden push from the brush, the extra height by jumping frame precisely at the start of an incline from a slope, the frame precise flight of stairs jumping...

12. International: Das Kolloseum (The colloseum)

No coooooop. This stage has the craziest glitch i have ever found. If you jump into the corner of a slope, you may get ejected into the orbit. The game will usually respawn you back in the stage, but if you keep rotating your character while he's midair, you can either spawn out of bounds on top of the stage, or respawn midair. Don't even ask me how there was no fall damage after that. Wow.
This is the last level. No credits though so i left the tas running at the screen where it says im a skate pro now.

Final thoughts and words

It was a fun tas to make with lots of discoveries. Another game i've played as a child finished. Hope you enjoy it. If you have questions feel free to ask.

Samsara: Claiming for judging.
Samsara: Just like in real life, once you left Los Angeles and went to San Francisco it really got good. That's not to say the pre-SF levels were bad at all, in fact I think it actually works out really well for the pacing of the playaround. I could tell you were learning new, weirder things about the game in each new level, and that added to the enjoyment since each new level topped the previous one as a result.
Very fun run. Accepting to Alt!
...Good luck to the publishers for all of the licensed music! ._.
