Magic Sword: Heroic Fantasy is a hack 'n slash game that was created by Capcom for the arcades and was later ported over to the SNES. The premise starts out with a hero known as the Brave One (Alan in the Japanese version) whose goal is to reach the top of a tall ominous tower so he can face Drokmar and defeat him before he can take over the world with the Black Orb.
One unique gameplay element is that the Brave One can summon an ally of a variable class to assist them, and both characters share a magical meter that empties every time the Brave One attacks. The strength of magical-type allies' attacks depend on this meter, with them attacking at full strength when the meter is full and not attacking at all when the meter is empty.
In this run, CoolHandMike plays as only one Brave One and starts from the 33rd floor of the tower. From there, a zipping glitch is heavily abused to complete the next 17 floors so quickly that a few floors get beaten before the fade-in transition could even complete itself. The result is a record time run that looks like reality is breaking apart. For details on this, you can read the author's notes.
