Wow, I watched Blechy's 100% run, it was awesome! Very well done. The last minute or two were a bit boring since it was just "boss appears, boss gets owned, boss explodes for two minutes" over and over again but of course that wasn't Blechy's fault! :)

yeah I felt a bit bad about that. Though smashing wheel gator in the face was very pleasing. He is king of desynchs. I also like crystal snail's head-back recoil animation to the uppercut.

I agree. Remarkably well done, Blechy! THAT'S a prime example of a genuine, quality, tool-assisted speedrun. I commend you.

I've played that game like a million of times, and there are some parts of the game I just could not believe how easil the could be done. The 3 stage in sigmas base was always so long and tireing because of the pod you had to use, incredibly impressive to say the least... the only down side (if any) is that you had to go back into 1 stage to get the heart tank... tryin to figure out a way to skip havin to go back there... gotta be a way to get all items in the first run on the stage.. Still... WOW...

2 options that come close: 1) Move the order to Crystal Snail-Morph Moth-Magna Centipede. This is not viable, because if Crystal Snail is able to utilize his shell, he will be in it for a lot of time and be invulnerable for long periods of time because of it. 2) Move the order to Magna Centipede-Crystal Snail-Morph Moth. This is not viable, because Magna Centipede's fight is cut down by a little time(though not much due to teleportation) by using silk shot. But more importantly, Chop Register(the sword miniboss) takes a ridiculously long time to kill without the silk shot. This is because not only is the silk shot is the most powerful weapon in the game to enemies with no recovery(as chop register is) due to releasing 4 additional projectiles after the first hit lands, but the miniboss is also weak to it. Neither of these options are viable because (time spent selecting and running morph moth's heart tank collection)<((time that would be spent fighting [crystal snail] or [magna centipede + chop register]) - (time that WAS spent fighting [crystal snail] or [magna centipede + chop register]) Hope that answers your question, but thanks for bringing it up. Edit: I'm not sure how X-Hunter order is arranged, but in my video it happens to be according to boss weakness. Switching the order would cause them to appear on the map more often, and that time would be wasted, though it is not much.

Really nice styling at the snails in the 3rd Sigma stage (I think it was)... It makes the run much funnier :>

Very beautiful run Bletchy... i didnt know those weapons could be used so entertainingly :-) When actually playing the game I always thought the grappling hook was mostly worthless... now I see how it really should be used! Im curious though how the run would look as a speedrun instead of a 100% run... though it doesnt seem you went too far out of your way to get the stuff at any time.

I don't mean to sound jealous or anything, but I've been curious as to why people prefer the X run over X2. I will admit that it is closer to perfection, but it just seems to have less variation to me, making it less entertaining. My best guess would be that it is more familiar, but if it is due to the mistakes in X2, I will abandon making an X run(which I haven't worked on in weeks) in favor of perfecting X2.

Personally, I just like shorter, completion-focused movies over ones that aim for some other goal (like 100% items). It has nothing to do with the playing quality in this case. Are you thinking of my comment about recommendations?

As much as it may not seem like it, this IS as fast as possible, due to needing all items to get the shouryuken. I'll include that in the movie's description. I've been wondering it for awhile.

Hm, okay. You're saying that getting all the items and taking the detour to get the shoryuken is actually faster than skipping all of them and killing the bosses with the usual weapons? Did you measure it? I wouldn't know, it just felt like a long time to get all the stuff... but then it was a while since I watched it. If this is the case, then yes, it's certainly something belonging in the movie description.

Blechy: Any reason you didn't use the Giga Crush against Serges?

Cause the Morph Moth weapon takes him down ridiculously fast as is. If I used it against his first stage, it would destroy all cannons in one blast, but a) the giga crush takes forever to use, b) I would have to take damage from projectiles in preparation to using it, and finally, every time you destroy 1 of his cannons, he approaches you a little further, but his second phase doesn't begin until he gets as close to you as he can. Using morph moth's weapon, he never gets the chance to stop approaching me, and so it's just as fast in that aspect anyway. As for using it on his second phase, it takes off a whopping 2 bars.

That would be my guess, too. If you remember, MMX1 was the first 16-bit Mega Man, so there was a huge amount of hype around its release. People were sick of the NES games, so Capcom made plenty of MMX carts to go around and it sold very very well. You can't say the same for X2, X3, Demon's Crest, and a few others - they had small print runs. Almost everyone I knew back then who had a SNES owned X1, but not a single person (including myself) had X2 or X3.

What would be real entertaining would be a megaman x3 100% run, i mean the golden armor is really kool and all the different things you can do with it is really good. But i just really enjoy 100% runs, i find it more skillful than just zooming through a game *not that the other videos aren't skillful, cause i know they areand i love watching them* but really though, to see everything collected as fast as possible would be more than awesome. I did see a run on zophars domain. It was split into 2 parts. I haven't viewed it for years cause i don't know which emulator version it works with, i tried quite a few and couldn't get it ruinning, but it was very entertaining to watch. And it wasn't as good as you guys can do. *this is not a request, but i would be very happy if someone picked it up ^-^*

This is next on the chopping block. Before I begin, are there any possibilities anybody can think of in terms of routes and planning? Errors of those kind? Here is what I've found: Morph Moth: Test charged vs uncharged fire. Magna Centipede: Test silk shot vs X-Buster. Once his tail is removed, he teleports on every hit no matter the weapon used that I have at that point. With his tail, he sometimes teleports, but it's possible he may be manipulated into not doing so. This comes into play in the next step: Returning to Morph Moth. It is possible that the sequence of Magna Centipede-Crystal Snail-Morph Moth is faster than Morph Moth-Magna Centipede-Crystal Snail. This requires comparing times which involve how long it takes to retrieve Morph Moth's heart tank, how long it takes to fight Magna Centipede with and without Silk Shot(quite a pain), and how long it takes to fight Magna Centipede's 1st miniboss, Chop Register, with and without Silk Shot(a HUGE pain. This guy will really be the deciding factor). On Overdrive Ostrich's level, before ditching the vehicle I can destroy the scorpion so I can begin charging earlier and don't have to be delayed before the capsule. The elevator on Wire Sponge's level can be skipped by jumping up the walls(kudos to Bladegash). Wire Sponge's charging can be avoided. I plan on hex editing the Sigma stages and after(I may need some help doing this), as there are no glaring problems I can see. This may cause desyncs on the bosses or in collecting health before Dr. Light's last capsule(I was waiting for somebody to think this was an error- oh well). Anything else come to mind?

I decided to resurrect this topic because I am currently working on a Megaman X2 TAS. After watching Blechy's X2 run, I must say that it is very impressive. So I started searching for improvements. There were a few nifty tricks I found while probing the game: - After hitting Wheel Gator with the Strike Chain, there is a very brief period of vulnerability between when he stops blinking and when he goes into the water. He can also be hit right from the start. This makes it possible to repeatedly strike and kill him within 10 seconds. (I actually found this while casually playing.) - There are many parts in the game where Strike Chain helps, usually to gain height when jumping to a wall or to reach places more easily. I feel that during my first version of the run, I haven't abused Strike Chain and Speed Burner as much as I should have. - Chop Register (the C4 sword) goes down with two seconds' worth of X-Buster autofire. And it's only necessary to dodge him once. There is actually a faster way of killing him: using the Giga Crush just before the point where you lose control of X. Unfortunately, X becomes permanently frozen, so there's no point using Giga Crush. - Magna Centipede goes down pretty easily with charged X-Buster shots; almost as fast as with Silk Shot. X fires the double shot much faster while hanging on a wall. With the above tricks in mind, the order of the bosses goes like this: Wire Sponge, Wheel Gator, Flame Stag, Bubble Crab, Magna Centipede, Crystal Snail, Overdrive Ostrich, Morph Moth. Taking Flame Stag before Bubble Crab is debatable. This order cuts down the 7 seconds or so of reshuffling from the X-Hunters on the stage select (their position cannot be luck-manipulated). It all comes down to whether I can beat Flame Stag fast enough with the dash-shot X-Buster. So far, my first version of the run is up to Crystal Snail beaten. It is not a perfect run, and I have no plans to submit it.
