I'm currently mapping this game (well, more like modifying maps that have already been made that I found on the 'net) to show where each Monster Lair is, what's in it, how many of them there are, the EXP gained from sealing it, and what effect sealing it has. Obviously, quite a bit of this information is crucial to a successful speedrun of the game - you want to hit level 24 at or around the final boss and you don't want to seal more Monster Lairs than are needed.

I'm fairly certain that 'Soul Blazer' is two words.

As someone who's played through that game fully 3 times at least, I must say: this is going to be a long freaking time attack. Maybe not as long as the sonic and knuckles one, but still.

Eh, whatever. Keep in mind I hadn't played the game in years.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing why it was written together (SoulBlazer) in the start up screen. But on the cartridge and manuel it's written with space between the two words and even on fan pages it's mentioned as Soul Blazer and also the rom-name itself. But... Who cares? Better doing a speed run of this game :).

Ah, no, sorry, sorry! I finished the first world and stopped because I wanted to learn how to make the maps dynamic (so you could click on it to change it.. it's supposed to be easy to do if I only knew some kind of language like Perl or Python or something).

No, like.. the point of mapping the levels is to see what the different Monster Lairs do. Most of them change the map by removing walls or making bridges or stuff like that. So I wanted it so you could turn on or off the effects of any Monster Lair and see how the map would change.

This has been one of two games I've always wanted to see on this site. I've always loved the game, but I figured no one would even attempt it due to the length. I wish you the best of luck with this, and will eagerly await updates.

Hamm - What was the other game you wanted to see? :) Boco - Well.. Just setting up some HTML with a shitload of pictures will do I suppose? Otherwise I'm sure any other language will do. HTML ain't that good when it comes to advanced stuff. But PHP should do it for sure. To bad I can't program PHP though. Otherwise I could help you.

Highness - The other game? Crystalis for the NES. They are two of my favorite games that I feel are underrated. Boco - As for the dynamic map, it would be a great help. There are several lairs in each world which don't do anything remotely useful for progression through the game. PHP would work well for it, and if I knew PHP, I'd offer to help.

While crystalis is a real joy to play, I think it's generally agreed it wouldn't make a very good time attack: the enforced levels at bosses and the necessary items(though the warp glitch could help with this, that'd be pretty cool) would prevent a lot of necessary luck manipulation. If you could warp-glitch to one of the final areas and level on normal enemies that would progress it much faster, but alas, those cannot be harmed either.

Blechy - I don't really want to have this thread turn towards Crystalis, but I think I remember there being a useful trick with the warp that allowed you to kill the green soldiers outside of Goa fairly early, and they are worth decent experience. Food for thought I guess.

I would love to work on this once my current projects are complete. No doubt on the longish side but there would be plenty of good stuff. Don't count on this coming from me anytime soon... If I did this in addition to Crystalis I suppose I would be Hamm's hero. :)

You already are my hero, but you'd be closer to god then. ^_^* I'd love to see you take up this run, seeing as no one else plans to.
