...as in, those who "ship" for romantic relationships between fictional characters. This thread's purpose is to post the oddity of shippers in every are of fanboyland. Here are some weird categories and ships that I've seen in the past: Peculiar Harry Potter shippers - Lupin/Kingsley, Sirius/Snape, Hermione/Ginny, Hermione/Grawp, Ron/Ginny, Harry/Snape. Peculiar Legend of Zelda shippers - Link/Navi, Link/Young Maku Tree I will post more later. Hope everyone else does too. EDIT: Just found a Harry/Snape shipper. Disgusting.

Even though I could guess from context, I had to check urbandictionary.com just to be sure. I had only heard the term "Slash" before, has this gone out of fashion now? In any case, I doubt this is the appropriate website for this...

This is the stupidest internet trend I've seen in a while. Seriously, though, "shipping"? Why don't they just call it "What if Hermoine totally fell in love with ____?" e: To reroute the topic: I LOVE LONGSHOREMEN! WOOOOO!

Nope: worship is default for anime fans. If they don't, they're ousted by the Otakus and the Glomp-Patrols at anime-cons for being not fucking weird. DUH. I still want 3 cheers for longshoremen; they keep America's ports safe and cozy with their multi-layered loading frames.

It is my perception that "shipping" is most common among teenager girls. Less common in mature girls, and even less in boys in general. I saw it the first time five, six years ago. (I ran a Pokémon IRC channel, and regulars were from an age range spanning two decades.) The objects of "shipping" tend to be quite random; any combination of a male and female character is a candidate for shipping, and each have their arguers. Some go beyond those limits. And no, "shipping" doesn't come from "worship"; it comes from "relationship". Though of course, you could think that the "shipper" worships the characters she would like to think as secretly (or not secretly) loving each others. Mostly it's just playing on hilarious or romantical combinations for the fun.

Heh, could be worse - there's people who think they're in romantic "relationships" with fictional characters! Usually from Anime or RPGs... or Anime RPGs.

Okay, I think I lost some brain cells reading that Wikipedia article. I feel dumber just for knowing about shipping.

Why can't I understand what that means? I have read it about 5 times and I still can't understand what it means. I'm baffled.

Translation: Shipping means to imagine that people in books/movies are in love.

WifeQX? Is that the "evil twin" of WifeXQ?

To the dedicated shipper, that's no problem at all! Simply have WifeXQ reveal she is an alien, or a defector from the government who created a new identity, or...I don't know, have her fall into a bottomless pit or something. Then after she returns to her home planet/gets shot by the agents who were tailing her throughout/fades from sight, bring in the new love interest, who despite just having his heart torn out, JXQ will immediately take a fancy to. Then slap it on Fanfiction.net.

you know, bottomless pits are boring. they completely lack the bloody mess at the bottom. I also thought I had killed the thread, but damn.. you guys are persistent.
