Okay, this is what happens - I am trying to record a Yoshi's Story Speedrun. The problem is, when I 'record from start', it shows this: But when I 'record from snapshot', it works just fine. BEFORE YOU ASK - This is what input plugin I'm using: N-Rage`s Direct-Input Plugin8 1.60 I hope that I was describable. Any help is appricated. Thank you :).

Works for me with that plugin. What does your input config dialog look like? What other plugins are you using? Also, try replacing your mupen64.ini file from the original download; like several other things in mupen64, that file becomes corrupt all the time. A corrupt mupen64.ini will usually prevent this game from running correctly.

Thanks for your help. But I have fixed it succesfully myself. I guess my input plugin doesn't work properly with Mupen64. So I am using another one.

Speaking of recording problems, it seems that whenever I open a movie file (without read-only checked) and then load a savestate, mupen doesn't rerecord from that savestate. In fact, it only records if I don't open a movie file. Is there a way around this problem?

That's a new one. I don't know, explain what you mean by "records if I don't open a movie file" (records to where, and how do you know it's recording) and "doesn't rerecord" (desyncs, switches to playback, stops emulating, records but doesn't update file, records but doesn't let you control the character, says recording failed, says it's recording but you don't believe it, records from a different savestate than the one you loaded, etc.) EDIT: Also, use the savestate hotkeys only. Don't go up to the menu and choose Save As... or Load As... or anything else to save and load your savestates.

well, whenever I turn on Mupen and load the rom I can record. I can also record from a savestate, as long as I didn't open a movie file. Once I load the movie file, it seems like the rerecording function is lost. For example, let's say I record a segment, and while recording I make a savestate halfway into the segment. After I open my recorded movie file, I load the savestate (which according to the FAQ should initiate rerecording). However, when I am finished rerecording and play back the movie file, it is the exact same as the first one I made - the one in which I originally made the savestate. In other words, rerecording never took place. Basically the only way I can go about is to make a perfect segment every time without rerecording. EDIT: I'm using mupen 0.5 if that makes any difference.

when it is recording, you can save state. just load it if you mess up, without changing any recording options, and it will start rerecording from there. STOP movie recording before you go back and check your progress.

laughing_gas: You know you are not supposed to choose "Record" to continue recording, right? That is only for starting a new recording. To continue recording you have to "Play" the movie and load a savestate while the movie is still playing back, like the FAQ says. EDIT: I'm no good at this mind-reading business, am I?

I know that I have to load the savestate after opening a movie file without "read-only" checked. When I record the first segment, I make the savestate in the middle and then open my movie file while it is still recording. Am I supposed to click "stop recording" before opening up my movie file?
