I was looking over at the "Dream TAS Tools" thread and it reminded me of something: FCEU XD SP has a bunch of really great debugging tools that our current version of FCEU doesn't have. What's preventing us from just copying some of those features over to our version, seeing that FCEU XD SP is open source?

I ran into an interesting situation today. I tried to capture an AVI of a Nintendo World Cup movie that I recorded a while ago. Since I would be away from the computer for a while, I set the playback speed at 12%. When I played back the AVI, the video looked fine, but the audio seemed to be going really slowly. I'm assuming it was that 12% speed that I had the emulator set at. Does anyone know what could have caused this? I was using the 0.98.13 version with x264 encoding. I'll run the latest version overnight and see if the same thing happens.

In 0.98.13, it is known to have some issues like that. For AVI recording, 0.98.15 is a must. 0.98.16 is known to have some problems too.

Okay, I guess I'll try 0.98.15. Just like Maza reported earlier, the AVI that I got from 0.98.16 was all black, but the audio was fine. EDIT: The AVI from 0.98.15 turned out fine.

You accidentally attempted to load a savestate that was not created during movie playback/recording. Do you have a backup copy of the movie? Something that is longer than 200 frames (from the beginning!) will do fine. If you have, I can restore your movie. If you don't, I cannot restore it. Or you can use this tool by yourself. http://bisqwit.iki.fi/utils/fcmrepairer.php If you have made multiple savestates during the progress of the movie, you can recreate the backup movie file from those savestates (or I could do it). For the use by that tool for restoring your actual movie, that is.

Nope, no backup, look like I need to do it again or forget it. But I'd like to say that Hi no Tiro can be improved further. Morimoto didn't press start to get pass title screen eariler.

I finally got 98.16 to build under windows (somewhat) properly (lots of commenting out). I'm going to take a stab at implementing the new mm's into the 98.16 source, and if all goes well ... well, i guess we'll see :P (first, need to familiarize myself with the code, second, figure out what luke did, third ... hopefully improve on that). Will keep everyone posted.

I don't know if this is the proper topic, but I'd like to make a request: Please allow the disabling of L+R/U+D. They can interfere with normal playing. Thank you very much.

Pretty sure that's in place in the non-TAS releases. If you grab fceu-mm-june16-2006-win32, you should be fine (assuming you're running under windows :P)

But wouldn't it be nice to have just one release that gives you both options?

It's a pity the SF project is once again as good as dead. I don't see any updates to the SVN, nor emails over teh list. I wonder if it will ever be finished.

Updated the first post to be up-to-date. Someone willing to work on FCEU and fix those bugs?

This is very awkward. Im trying to replay a movie with FCEU 16 but FCEU crashes whenever it tries to replay the file. Is this problem due to Im using Vista?

Can't say, not using Vista. Reading the first page though, Phil, why is there a request: Add the option to enable/disable L+R/U+D. ? The feature is rather simple, but why clutter fceu with options like this in the first place? When making a TAS you know better then to use this when it's not allowed, or to claim such and such. I don't really see the point.

qfox: Because some people did requested it. Imo, it's not needed but programmers make softwares for people so it's better if all people is pleased ;)

I've been using FCEU's memory viewer recently (NES -> Debugger -> Memory). After a while of having it open, the game starts to lag, and sometimes the main FCEU window loses the focus to the memory viewer window. This happens in both versions 0.98.13 and 0.98.15. I'm running WinXP Home, if that's relevant. If someone would be willing to look into this and see if it can be improved, it would be much appreciated.

Ok, I should have posted this some times ago. When making Castlevania with Morrison, The movie suddenly desync. Even though I open a valid "from movie" savestate, it still desync. So here is the movie with savestate. It's save #5. Open the movie and load the state. It is recording according to FCEU but if you play the movie it will still desync. Btw, I put a link for 1st post for this and a state for Zelda where emulation is crashing. I will post one later for Bionic Commando when I will have the chance to happen ,which will but I didn't worked on it recently.

This doesn't happen in v0.98.16. Instead, its Memory Watch slows down the game either in WinXP Home or Win98 SE.

Just got a quick question since this is here; how do you resume recording a movie? I've just started using FCE Ultra after quite a while with JNes, and I can't figure it out.

Start a movie playing, and load a snapshot/savestate when not in "read only" mode. You can toggle read only mode by pressing shift+8. ...and as long as I'm babbling like Peppy from Star Fox, to barrel roll, press Z or R twice! ;)

I'm curious. Is there an official place that the recent executables for FCEU are hosted? It looks like they are just on different file holding sites. Also, is the code base in any one place? Or are there just patches floating around? I have a lot of webspace and am able to host compiled versions. I might also be able to host the source code in svn or something like that, if it would be useful to people. Any thoughts?

I was wondering if anyone could make a 16-bit view for the memory viewer for FCEU

I think you can do it if you have a cheat tool besides Emulator.8-bit view,16-bit view or 32-bit view, you can watch all memory. There are many kinds of cheat tool in Google^_^
