Phantoon is, well, WAY too difficult. Not tricky-difficult, but rather tedious-difficult, since the only weapon you can fight him with are missiles, and there are only 15 (?) of them available at that point.

Norfair without Varia sucked the fun out of this game for me. Once I got past it it seems that I have to go to Maridia without Gravity? If that's the case, I won't be playing this one any further. I'll have to check for alternate routes later on.
Well it's not named "Impossible" without reason. And you get enough helping platforms to pass all rooms in Maridia without much trouble.

The difficulty should increase with each boss, so I had to. And why only Missiles (15 is correct at this point I think), you are free to use Supers as well. :-) creaothceann: Haha, this is one of the easier rooms to pass. ;-) About completion time: I got something like 5 hours in my beta-test. Should be improveable by at least a half if playing excellent.

Well, I understand, and I appreciated what you did to Spore Spawn, but in this case, it's just effectively prolonging an already tedious battle, asking for slowdown and/or savestate abuse. I've eventually beat it, though.

So is someone going to TAS this one after someone beats it?

Okay, this is really not my game, it's just too tedious, sorry Saturn. I really did try hard to like this game but couldn't.

I guess the name SUper Metroid Impossible wasn't just a name. It's a fact. I just can't enjoy this game.

I know that. Thats why I intentionally added this door here. Allows you a nice walk back to the respawning red bug near the (in original) Gravity Suit Guard entrance. ;-) But congrats on beating Phantoon already, it sure isn't easy.

that green door just crossed the border between "making the hack difficult" and "being downright sadistic". I love this door, it proved my point :-) As said, I abuse everything the emulator has to offer. No need to congratulate me on cheating through.

I think I'll be doing myself a favor if I just wait for the obligatory TAS.

Obligatory? You might happen to wait for too long until such thing comes…

About morph ball, am I expected to stand on platform there? I die there everytime I *try* to stand there, spike damaged me instead.

It would be nice if someone record the input so we could watch how things are going. Even if it's not optimize, it's always fun to watch movie. :) I think I'll try to be able to encode some movie, which would be nice for those that don't want to download the rom and the emulator etc etc etc.

any hints on the underwater sand pits? from watching speedruns I noticed that pressing R seems to help when trying to jump again after landing on sand, and it helped a little. However, I never managed to jump when under a sand-fall, and I never managed to get out of the sand after going under. And there's this one jump where I either land inside the sand-fall, or I'm hit by a well-placed enemy, immediately submerging me. Using damage knockback doesn't help much either. And bombs don't work at all. I could try going the other direction, but my chances there seem even lower.

Try keep pressing jump longer, and combine that with pressing down (should help in some situations, since the vertical hitbox contracts to 3/5 of its size, giving you more vertical clearance). Also, when going through sandfalls, keep pressing jump no matter what: as soon as you pass it, you'll magically continue to rise until your vertical acceleration fades out. I'm also in Maridia, trying to farm as more items as possible before going to Botwoon.

Here's what I did: I got as close to the lower row of spikes as I could, and IBJ'd up to about level with the head, and moved so that a bomb shot me at the head and into it. It took a TON of savestates, cause there's only a very small spot where I actually went into the head, but it eventually worked. :) Edit: size mod

Infinite Bomb Jump.

read Saturn's initial post, he claims that 100% is possible. I have no idea how to get that missile over there though. Maybe there's a hidden morphball hole somewhere, or maybe he placed more than 100 items and made this one unreachable. Or maybe you just need more items to get this one. @moozooh: thanks for the hints. I noticed that the sandfalls alter your position, not your velocity, and try to press jump as long as possible anyway. But no amount of jumping or down-pressing is helping me against this conveniently placed damage source.

Hmm, I passed this point several times already. The best way to do it is to wait until the enemies sink, and only then shoot their projectiles at you, and jump shortly afterwards (the best time would be, I guess, when you hear the sound they emanate while shooting: as soon as you hear it, jump). If you just rush forward, then you're guaranteed to stumble upon the shots which will be placed horizontally (that is, 10 times harder to avoid underwater). Also, I have a theory regarding Saturn's sadistic intentions: his RBO run contained pretty much the same challenges, so he decided to vent his frustration in a form of a hack. :)
