How about lower Marshtomp's health until it is less than 1/3 health, then use Water Gun? You have Quick Claw and Mud-Slap, so none of the others should knock you out.

I forgot about lowering Marshtop's health. I'll try that right now.

Okay, after some progress I have became stuck on the sixth Gym. The last pokemon is Flying (which means that it can't be hit by Mud Slap) and Dragon (which makes it resistant to Surf). I can't kill it in one hit, and it does almost as much damage as my potion heals. Anyone have any ideas on how to get past this?

Flyers are weak to electric. Do you have an electric type that can take the gym?

Dragon is resistant to Electric though, so he'll just end up with normal damage. If you get an Ice type then you will get 4x damage due to double weakness.
Signature under contruction, still.

Do you still have Rock Tomb? Almost all flying is weak to Rock. Skarmory is a big exception.

Off the top of my head, I don't think he gets any Ice moves until after this Gym. I think. :/

1. Rock Tomb cannot one hit KO it, but I'll try that too. 2. The first ice move comes right after this gym, which I hate. The only possible thing is to get it to use only Dragon Dance for the whole battle, but I'm not sure if the game is that stupid.

From your description, it seems that you are low on health. What caused this lack of health? Because if you are able to survive one hit, you can Rock Tomb it twice.

I really like the run so far, though it seems your paths aren't perfect from time to time when you're running around. An extra step or two here or there. It's possible that there're just trainers that I'm missing, but it happened so much that I doubt it. Also, how hard would it be to just manipulate the enemy to miss? Two Rock Tombs should be fine if you can do that, I hope.

Only problem is in this game, unlike Red and Blue, every move doesn't have a possibility to miss. There are a lot of moves that simply don't miss.

Game works fine. I finished it long ago. Movie does not start somewhy. Game runs, and on some reason I can control it while movie is loaded and frame counter shows 0/(total frames, around 168k, i don't remember number).
Bit of an old reply, but I came across this issue in FF5A and was stumped for quite a long time. It turned out that I had to set the default controller to Controller 1. *shrugs* As for the Winona battle, do you have any X items? Pelipper uses Protect, so you could use them then. Well, I suppose you could do it during Swellow's Double Team (pretty sure it has it) since you can manipulate your hits anyway, though you wouldn't have to with the former case.
Working on a mod of an old favorite in my spare time. PM for updates!

I have 9 out of 97 health, due to Pelipper using Water Gun on me. Using a potion at the start of the battle would raise my HP far enough so that I don't get the water attack boost for having less than 1/3 of my HP. Using a potion during the battle where I die doesn't help, because Altaria does about 35 damage, and the potion refills 50. This just stalls the battle, unless I waste 2 or 3 turns in a row using potions.

Which attacks do the Pokemon tend to attack you with when you are at full health? Which Pokemon are faster than yours? I'm asking about the speed because I am thinking of King's Rock (though if they're all faster, then it's pointless). Also remember that if a Pokemon can finish you off, it will always use an attack that will finish you off.

They are all faster then me (maybe with the exception of Peliepper). Maybe I'll try a while longer and hope that I get lucky.

In fact, I've become very discouaged, but I'm not going to give up yet. Unfortunately, I have a lot of homework, and therefore won't get much time to try. Do you think it would be feasible to get the Ice Beam TM from the ruined ship?

I think getting Ice Beam may be worth it. Since you will be underpowered, you can always proc a Freeze on the enemy so they won't be able to attack, thus causing fights to be a little shorter due to less text from enemy attacks. I have not seen a freezing proc in any of the TASes yet.

Now that's an idea I hadn't thought of. Not only will it really help with this gym, it's super effective against the next one too. Since it's a double battle, I can just freeze them both and attack unharmed. Thanks for that suggestion, it will be tried as soon as I can.

Keep in mind however that the Ice Beam will only attack one enemy at a time. So you may still take some damage unless you make the attacks miss.

I haven't played this part of the Pokémon-series, but one question: Is there some kind of animation when an enemy attack which won't get animated due to the fact that they are frozen and won't move/animate a movement? If that's the case, I'd say that it can be worth it. Then again, my Pokémon-wiz days are long since gone :(

Technically not. Ice is not super effective against Rock. It is super effective against Xatu and Claydol, but you're playing Sapphire, not Emerald.

I turned battle animations off, otherwise would you said would apply. I beat the flying gym, although with a strange strategy. I let Marshtop die, and then brought out the Castform that the guy at the weather research place gave me and killed the last pokemon. After that, I went to the next city to heal, buy some TMs, and that's where I am now. Blizzard (One of the TMs I got) hits both pokemon in a double battle. Could I freeze 2 at the same time, do you think? (The next gym is a double battle. Movie here. Edit: I was so sure that Rock was weak to Ice. Has this been changed since the first games, or was it always like this?

Well, seeing as how Blizzard deals damage to all enemies. I say freezing both enemies is quite possible. By the way, what rom version are you using? ;3

It was always like this. Rock/Ground Pokemon are weak to Ice because of the Ground part, not the Rock part. In the next Gym, you can use Surf, since Rock is weak to Water. For anyone who is watching the run, there is no desync. At the point where it appears to desync (Mt. Pyre), kirbymuncher was playing real-time on turbo.
