Hello! Discovered this site some days ago, and it's just great! Of course, I can download the AVI-Files of the Speedruns via Bittorent, but I'd prefer to watch the Famtasia Movies. Is there a Famtasia Version (or a compatible emulator) for Mac OS (X)? It's not that important, that I would go and purchase Virtual PC, but it would be great ;-)

No compatible, no Famtasia. Your choices are unfortunately limited to a PCemulator.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply! Well, is there perhaps an old Famtasia version, that can be run under DOS?

I don't really know if there's a particular emulator I can name, but he could always run a *nix emulator - X is based on Unix, ya know. ;) Then again, if all else fails, I'm sure there's some source somewhere that we could get to the guy...

The problem is that the system he's running contains a totally different processor than the ones found in PCs. Even if he installed Linux to it, he couldn't use Wine with it because Wine requires the host computer has a x86-compatible processor. There is no Famtasia-version that doesn't require Windows.

Linux programs should be no bigger problem sincer there are some emulators that can run these apps (haven't installed one, but there are) Is this right? With Wine i could get Famtasia running? As I saw, i could use Wine, if I got Xfree86 running on my Mac but until now, I have to admit, I have no clue about how to use Unix/Darwin. But with the help of some Mac Board this should not be that difficult. If I had experiences in programming (acually: none), I'd try to port Famtasia myself, if the programmers said it was OK, which of course would be the best solution, not only for me;-)

I'll say once more: Famtasia requires Windows and x86 processor. Wine emulates Windows. Wine does not emulate x86. Mac does not have x86 processor. Ergo, Famtasia does not work on Mac without a pc emulator. As for porting, not possible: the source code of Famtasia is lost.

For OS X, you could try purchasing a copy of Virtual PC (since it's made by Microsoft, get one that comes with a Windows XP Home license). Depending on your mac, it could work ok.

Unless I'm mistaken, isn't that really expensive? It would be almost cheaper to buy a new computer x_X. Though I'm lucky and got a copy for free from my dad's work. It works decently. It's of course slower than what it would be non-emulated, but it's not so bad. And getting the resolution to work properly is a pain. Though it's really annoying to emulate anything other than windows OSes on it (i.e. Linux). Haven't tried it on OS X though.
