After reading the Double Wires thread and trying it out, it occured to me that the game wasn't the best realization of the slingshot/wire action concept by far. So I decided to introduce a game that suits that title much much better: B.A.L.L.O by Marelwish Productions, the winner of Assembly '04 gamedev competition. The official site went down some time ago, so here are links for the most recent version on Underdogs and my hostspace. It's rather short, but it's much more fast and fascinating (also, good graphics). Controls: A, D — applying horizontal force to the ball; W, S — making the wire longer/shorter; mouse1 — shooting the wire; mouse2 — letting go of the wire. Enjoy.

I couldn't download it from moozooh's host space, and Underdogs kept saying something was wrong... I got it from Caiman. Gotta test it now.

Nice game, but it seems it doesn't like my mouse. It spasms occationally and I lose control. Anyway, if I click too fast, the second click won't do anything. I like to hook and unhook like a crazy man in those games. Also, there's no way to let go of the rope, for some nice air time, which would be extremely fun. More comments as I play more. Edit: Okay, it's really annoying me how I can't click to my heart's content. Also, I reached a cave with some treasure chests and a rainbow, which seems to be the end. Yay, I guess I won the game. Edit 2: okay, I guess there *is* a way to let go of the rope. Stupid me.

Yeah, I realized that before. But it doesn't matter now, I've completed the game already. Actually, it was probably a good thing I didn't try the right mouse button, since all it does is encourage riskier moves, increasing the chance of death from extremely likely to absolutely certain.

Actually, playing this game risky is the funniest of all, since you could reach some extreme speeds with skilled swings and "taking damage to save time". ;)

Yeah, LLCoolDave and I are interested in individual level runs for this game. We have some pretty wacky runs done ourselves. :) Slingshotting yourself down a long corridor is nerve-wracking, but excellent.

In my arrogant opinion, this game SUCKS BALLS! Sorry, moozooh... =D I was playing double wires, and I don't think you can do this kind of stunt in that ballo thing. The game doesn't have music, so I added a silly tune.

Maybe it's because of the falling speed.

Well, one of these nights I was bored and I made this. From my point of view, it adds some fun to this boring game.

I made it using Trainer Maker Kit. Some antivirus find trojan signatures in trainers created with this software. Well, I couldn't find anything harmful in it. If it's a keylogger, it would save a file somewhere and then try to send to someone, and I didn't see anything like that. Anyway, you can't really trust what these things say. For example, most antivirus find a "Sniffer Trojan" in Winsock Packets Editor Pro. It's a sniffer, but not a trojan. The software can be used to "harm" other people, but not yourself. I believe some people don't really like cheats.

http://www.timsvault.com/cheattools/trainer_mkit.htm It uses a keylogger as a hotkey monitor, apparently. Still no reason to use it though.

Well, there's no source because the trainer is automagically created by the program. All I did was NOP the CMP instruction that checks if the collisions are greater or equal to 3.
