http://www.mathsnet.net/geometry/solid/houses.html You have to build the ten patterns given to you, in the given number of cubes. It sounds easy, until you realize how easy it is to go over the cube limits. XD One thing that wasn't too obvious to me at first: the dots in the problem list on the left tell you how well you're doing.
Green: you got the pattern right, but used too many cubes. Time to erase some. :p Yellow: better than green, as it means you correctly solved the problem by assembling the pattern within the cube limit. :p

Green is also given when you solve the problem but don't use enough cubes. (There are two puzzles where that can apply.) Yellow indicates you used precisely the requested number. (Yes, I've solved them.)

you have a special talent to find boring games, guys

Well, that was easy. You may ignore houses 5 to 9, since they don't pose you any challenge if you managed to solve at least any other one.

you can finish the figure 8 with 14 cubes, I think it's more simple :D anyway... it' a little boring but not so difficult... I've encountered troubles in the first and last figure... the others are pretty simple...

For some reason, 10 was the one that was easiest to solve for me. Also the first one I solved. I suppose I should try the others.

The difficulty is way unbalanced. Number 10 is as easy as pie, but I'm still scratching my head for number one. Also,
I agree with Boco.

10 was easiest for me too. Also 5. Then again, they're probably not ordered by increasing difficulty.

After spending half an hour figuring out #1, everything else fell into place in a matter of seconds. Only 10 becomes any sort of obstacle once you've developed a working strategy for the first 9, and (not coincidentally) only 10 requires any sort of logical thought or visualization to construct. (And ironically, 10 is the easiest to do if you approach all of them by trying to logically deduce what you need or try to visualize the final set.) Hardly mathematical at all.

I agree. If you want to post something off-topic, find a way to incorporate something on-topic in the post. For example: Wow. I want my new house to be number 10.

Okay, I completed all 10 puzzles, after figuring out a good starting strategy. Yay for me. 5-8 were extremely easy, though. The way to do it is this: First, just fill up all spaces. Then, view the square from the top and remove all blocks that aren't in the top view. Then view the square from the front view and remove all blocks that aren't in that view. Then do the same for the side view. You'll end up with a shape that represents possible positions for blocks, there won't be any blocks where you don't have any blocks now. Then just figure out which blocks are redundant, and remove them. Simple, right? The last puzzle requires a slightly different strategy, though.

To those [un]interested, I've managed to complete House #10 in 12.1 seconds: • AVI; • YouTube. Can anyone make it under 12?
