In Wai Wai World you can affect randomness by holding Up at various points, jumping at various points (looks goofy so I tried to avoid it as much as possible), or switching characters at various points (again, tried to avoid this). This is a major reason why the game looks easy when you watch the video...enemy behavior is quite random, and in a real game where you can't control them it's downright nasty.
In Vice you mainly affect randomness by switching weapons...the jumping thing can work also.
In Castle of Dragon and Sword Master virtually everything you do affects randomness. These games require much trial and error, and are quite annoying to timeattack.
Try some of these tricks in other games, they may likely work.
