Saturn,
- why don't you pick up the energy tank between the norfair elevator and ice beam? Drewseph did a larger detour for an additional energy tank later. Are you confident you won't need it? Or will you pick it up later, when traversing that room from right to left?
- why do you use a super missile to unlock the ice beam door? A regular missile should be enough.
Impressive speedball action. I think you're actually getting way ahead on the schedule of completion time.
Don't forget, they are using different routes. That etank would be of greater use on the way back, when there will be no recharge stations on the way.
In other news: I have updated this page with all (I think) the tricks used in this and future runs, together with short explanations and demos. If any of you think it lacks something, feel free to notify me. I will maintain this page as a repository for the SMR data until I consider it good enough to create SuperMetroidRedesignTricks.
Tub:
1. As moozooh said, Norfairs maze Energy Tank will be badly required to refill energy when I return back. It's not required until then anyway, since 3 tanks are just enough so far. I will of course pick it up later.
2. About the Super at the Missile gate, it's simple. Drew changed some item refill drops of various enemies to only drop health until it's full, and therefore I wouldn't be able to get ammo refills at all if not having max energy. However, and thanks god to this, you can still get ammo refills, even without having full energy, if you have full Missiles. At the pipe bugs right after the long spark after Ice Beam, I need to refill ALL Supers and Power Bombs for the east Norfair quest, to not get in heavy ammo problems later. If I would use a Missile on the gate like you say, I wouldn't have them full anymore, and those I would need to wait at least one additional round at the pipe bugs, to first get Missiles, and only then being able to get Supers and PB refills. Same reason was why I used 5 Missiles at the red door to the right of the Norfair elevator to save this one Super for the gate later, since I could recharge my Missile to full after it anyway (at station). In the end it's much faster if you can skip one refill round at this pipe bugs, so it was worth.
Sorry for writing abit complicated, it's just the only way to understand why I did that.
Moozooh:
I'm still careful with any completion time prognoses, but yeah, it looks not bad at least. :-)
Also nice page, thanks for puting work into it to create it. It sure will be of use.
I did some progress, and am to about 50% done with the section for WIP5. I can't tell where I am though, since the new route will be that surprising to see, that I better should keep it secret for now.
I'm currently very busy with work though, so the progress is very slow. I still hope to get WIP5 done in 1-2 months, and I can promise that it will be the best WIP so far. :-)
Hey it's been a while since I've checked back here (probably since my last post which I'd be surprised if you remember) but I just wanted to say that your WIP segments are incredible. I really didn't anticipate that my unmorph/remorph bomb trick would be usable anywhere but at the speed booster. Man was I wrong! You look like you're flying through all the rooms with the speed spring ball combo!
Anyway, I really hope you finish the run at some point, because the first four segments are currently my favorite TAS to watch :)
PS. Super Metroid Impossible was fun as hell!
Thanks darkness! Glad you like the run.
Regarding my progress, it's very slow because of what Omni said, and also because I just don't have enough freetime to work on it as much as I did before. I'm halfway done with WIP5 though, so I hope to get it ready this year at least. Sorry that I can't make it faster.
Yeah, only WIP5 of course, because this will be the hardest part of the run to TAS. All next WIPs shouldn't take much time to produce, and so I hope to finish the entire run somewhere in 2008.
What was the time you expected to be done with RBO? :P Just to know will it really take to 2009. (your next post - 1000)
I know the topic might not be right but I'd also be asking about where hero's run is going, and could he possibly show the CWJ tech in Green Brinstar room he was talking about in CPadolf's submission.

Wow, didn't even notice this will be my 1000th post. Thanks for reminder. ;-)
About the finishing dates of the runs, I really can't promise anything with them. Maybe I manage to finish RBO in 2008 as well, maybe not. It largely depends on my motivation, my freetime I can't plan ahead, and some other things. I can only say that I didn't give up with any of this runs yet.
To be honest, I'd really just prefer that you work on keeping the same level of awesomeness throughout the entire run. I'd rather wait a bit longer and get an entire run of this quality than make you feel rushed :)
Aww. I came to this thread seeing Saturn being the last poster, hoping WIP 5 was out, guess not :P
Love the current WIPs. Like the poster above you, I only want the run to be high quality like it has been. If time need be sacrificed, thats fine by me.
I very much doubt we'll see the fifth WIP this year, but then again I'd like to be proven wrong. :)
EDIT:
Sorry that's assuming you're talking about Saturn's any% TAS?

I'm still in the middle of WIP5, and most likely won't be able to finish it this year.
However I could make a exception and release the incomplete WIP (which at least has 2,5 minutes of new and unexpected stuff in it) before 2008. I will think about whether it's worth it...
Nah better end it where you want it to end, no matter how many people are turning into insane maniacs in the wait.
BTW has this hack been accepted to the site?
And there is no way that Impossible would be accepted right?
Cause it's way too similar to vanilla Super Metroid? It makes a great difference when you're playing it in real time, but as a TAS, it's basically a variation of RBO route with some slightly different sequence breaks.
