This topic's not for a competition, but I believe it should be posted here. I just thought of a good way how you can prove your gaming and speedrun skills to people, and to show that your speedruns are legit. The nes emulator Nesticle has an online multiplayer feature that lets you connect to other people, so you can play 2-player games over the net. If someone questions the authenticity of your speedruns, they can download Nesticle, connect to you(or vice versa), and watch you play the game in real time. They can then confirm that you are not using savestates, slowmo, or playing a recorded movie. It can prevent the player from entering any cheats because the person hosting the game has full control. It also confirms that they are not using a hacked rom because both players need to be using the same rom in order to play. You can even chat while playing the game, so you can tell them to do stuff to make sure that it really is them playing. I don't know if any other emulators have this feature, but I know Nesticle does for sure. My friend and I used to play 2-player games online all the time. One person can just sit back and watch while the other plays. So the next time someone doesn't believe your skills or level times, and asks you to prove it in front of them on a real nes, this would be the best alternative.

What do you mean by use keystrokes? If you're talking about playing keystroke recordings, it wont work because the timings will be way off. Plus, you can tell them to stop moving in the middle of their play and tell them to jump or do whatever, then resume play.

i don't have to prove anything to anybody :P i mean, if there was a videogame world champion title someone would want to prove that he is the best, but who cares how good you are in a game, it won't get you anywhere... games are made for fun. legit runs are insteresting only if he does really amazing stunts, but even so, i don't care if he did it "legit" or tool assisted, cause i don't give a damn about how good the player is, i am amuzed by the stunt itself.

Also, if the person playing isn't the one hosting, wouldn't there be a small keyboard-to-game lag? So it wouldn't be showing his real skills in the game anyway.

Nesticle is not the best idea as most things don't work (properely).

I'm not saying you have to prove anything to anybody, or that Nesticle is the best emulator. I'm just telling you that it has an online multiplayer feature so two people can connect to each other, and you can watch each other play. If you know of any other emulators that can do this, you can use those too. But, I've never had any problems with Nesticle, and it does play most games just fine. It even plays some games that don't work on Famtasia or VirtualNES.

some games can have champs. but its very game(type) specific. rpg, rts, fps, platform. they all are completely different. and even then, it matters per game. don't ask a warcrafter to play starcraft (well they usually know both, but..)

Me and one of my friends used to play bomberman 2 at ZSNES online, but we werent so good at it, it's just fun to play :D I would never do a timeattack couse i hate to compete, i just play for fun. ;>

I usually just play through a couple of levels of Mars Matrix, then restart the game and let them try. That usually shuts people up. ;)

I really agree with Cazlab on MMX. It is a pretty hard game, especially when playing it without upgrades, only using the X-Buster, and NOT using a Turbo pad. I've never played Mars Matrix, know where I can get a copy? Oh, and in case you can't tell from my MMX comment, I only use the X-Buster in every single MMX game I've played.
