So do I. I remember this game as a pretty hard one. I believe that is because I played it when I was very young :) Anyways. I hope you don't give up man! I would love to see this.

Oh. Secondly.. What emulator do you use for this run? I've tried to play Festers quest, but it crashes when I try to enter a building.

I'm using famtasia....and it turns out, that it gets far less interesting after stage 1. every other stage you'll have 5 invisibility potions, which is more than enough to get through any dangerous areas....so every level is just walking straight through, killing some enemies hoping they drop a couple keys... -Cheez

3 levels down. It's fairly annoying to do, since I haven't quite figured out what makes different monsters spawn...it seems like there's only 2 or 3 possible spawns in an area, and they almost always seem to drop the same thing, so getting keys can be a pain, so I've got quite a few suboptimal movements just to try and influence the randomness. -Cheez

Okay, I finished it...however...as a grand insult to my effort, it locks up at the very end right after I glitch-kill the last boss. However, if you still want to see a run through of the game (just no ending) here it is in all its craptastic glory: http://abharrie.misterdotnet.com/Fester.rar I have no intention of running this again, so if someone else wants to do a run, this will show the fastest path. -Cheez

Yeah, you weren't kidding when you said it was boring. :) I nominate Fester's Quest as the most unsuitable game for a good timeattack, ever! Good job on the run though. Of course, it wasn't optimal everywhere, but who the hell cares, the game sucks anyway. :)

yeah, definately one of those games that sounds like it would be better than it is. A lot of the sub-optimal moves are to affect the enemy spawns, but some are just because I didn't care, because really, why should I have? ;) -Cheez

Hehe.. Just watched the run. Resonable to watch with atleast 200% speed. To bad that the game crashes after the last glitch. Anyways.. Fun to see that someone had that much spare time to be able to run this game. Would this game go official and become AVI due to the ending not working? Otherwise, why'd you not kill the last boss in a regular way? Would it actually take that much time? Ah well. Glad to have seen it anyways. Cheers!

I think the game needs to reach the ending credits. Therefore, this run would not be suitable. If the last boss can be killed normally, without the glitch, and then proceed to the ending credits, a minor adjust to the run would make it submission-worthy, I think.

my snake rattle n roll run actually crashed right after the last boss, no credits, so thats not really necessary, but I haven't watched this game yet. I remember it being fun to play but I don't really think of it as something I'd like to watch in its entirety.

I actually enjoyed this run! Good job Cheez! It´s not your fault the game is somewhat repetetive so you did a great job there. And the music is really cool. The only thing that really bothered me was that I had almost no chance to see how the bosses looked like ;) Like in Power Blade. Gj anyways!

Yeah, not such a bad run for a game like this. Personally though, I thought it would have been more interesting if the boss fights played out.

I love this game, and would love to see a time attack. I used to have it in ROM format, until my back-up drive wouldn't transfer it so..

I also wanna see a time attack for this game, I was thinking on making a new post :P (didn't knew there was alredy a topic)... BTW, don't know if this is old news, but there where a glitch in this game that would let you teleport to another place, skipping a part of the game. You needed the whip & an item (which I don't remember right now). If this wasn't known I can look for the magazine where this glitch was posted...

Hmm, if it's a good glitch, and someone figures out how it works to apply it to other places, and can break the game enough, it might barely reach the level of "mostly boring, but some parts are mildly interesting". I'm not sure if it's worth the effort, but good luck!

I actually enjoyed Cheez's run on this game. Maybe the game itself wasn't quite as entertaining as I remembered it but the run was great!

Finally, I found the magazine with the glitch, here are the details textually:
If you're eliminated after getting the whip, enter Wednesday's house & when you get out, keep pressed diagonally up & left and use the whip until you disappear. Now that you're invisible, move to the righ & up until you get to the picture (it's at the street, like 2 screens to the right & one up). Now, press 2 times START & you'll appear near the Thing(2) house (which its at the upper left of the map)
If I'm not mistaken, you could do this at any house, but most of the time wasn't usefull...

Anyone willing to rehost the .rar? The link for the run Cheez made appears to be dead.

http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=443&highlight=fester You seem new here, so here's a quick tip: use the Search button at the top to see if there is already a topic about a game you are thinking about.

If you are planning to make a new attack of the game, please don't use the glitch to skip the last boss since that will lock up the game and the ending will not be shown.
