Yeah, a good way to improve your game is to post WIP once in a while, people will get interested in no time, and will find a lot of time saver that you could overlooked. I don't know a lot of big TAS that have been done alone. Even if there's only one person doing the run, a lot of people are behind that guy to guide him and help him. You should really consider trying to TAS this game again, I watch most of the run, and with what I saw, you might be able to pull 5 maybe 10 minutes off the run ;) Don't forget, there's always a bunch of people behind you ;) In any case, I'm looking for another TAS from you ;)

My tip to you is: try to make a much optimized as you can first minute of OoT and take notes of EXACTLY what you did and post here. We may have hints on what you can do better to use your time. Maybe you're using only one savestate slot? Maybe you're not using read-only toggle? Maybe you're not using frame by frame timing attempts with a savestate when using frame advance to find the earliest frame to do something? We can't know unless you tell us. What JXQ said is true, it has to be fun, right? You should enjoy the results, no matter how long it takes to make them. If you're not enjoying it, don't push yourself, read more first, watch more tases, read the game's discussion topics... And then try again later.

Is it possible with TAS movie editor to copy some frames from one of my .m64's and pasting in another? It let me do it but it wouldn't let me save it said "file possibly locked" What does the read-only toggle do?

Yes, you are able to copy frames between movies. Just open the movie you want to copy from, copy the frames, open the other movie and paste it in the other one. When you are recording in Read Only mode, and load a movie save state, it will be rewinded/fast forwarded to that spot. If not, it will rerecord from there.

I know how to copy the frames but it won't let me save the file afterward.

Could the problem be that you are playing the movie the same time? If not, I'm not sure what the case could be. E: Oops, forgot to read everything from your post... Whatever then :/.

File is in use by Mupen or other application most likely.

N64 games are just a bitch to complete. I cannot get past Hyrule Field because of desync's in the game. FUCK MUPEN. I'm on strike for another 10 seconds.

I've tried multiple times on different days and mupen is never open.

Are you using maximus' tas editor, or zefiris'? Maximus' doesn't support mupen yet. Zefiris' might.

I'm pretty sure that zefiris' does support m64 files atm.
