I used ipsXP to put an .ips patch (Ninki Saga) onto Super Mario World. However, when I open it with Snes9x, the screen is black. As far as I know, the rom is a good dump (I can watch the published TAS on the unpatched version) and I've used the same patch with good results on a different computer. Any suggestions?

compare the crc value of both unpatched and patched roms and maybe even the ips patch to see if any of those files is corrupt or different. you could also just transfer the working patched rom from the other computer.

Try a different IPS patcher. I think I remember seeing you using a Mac, so theres one on this page: http://www.tildesoft.com/Programs.html Failing that you could always just copy over the patched rom onto that computer..

No, this is on my Windows. My mac is "out of service" atm. And, what's a crc value?

Its a checksum. CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check. You could probably use SHA-1 or MD5 but I think theres a CRC checker in the emulator or something. I don't know.

Check whether the ROM you are trying to patch is headered or unheadered. This does not affect the CRC32 reported by the emulator (which discards the header before calculating it), but it does affect whether the IPS patch applies cleanly or instead turns your nice ROM into garbage. You can download NSRT (http://nsrt.edgeemu.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=14) for this purpose.
