Hi everyone, well i decided to TAS this game, because is straigh forward, fast, and with those plattform jumps is a little dinamic. For those who don't know it (anyway this isn't a well know game), all i can tell is that using weapons ALWAYS slow you down, the fastest way is to attack while in the air. And that if you get hit, you have to start all over the stage. In this run, i tried to make this fast, but i attacked some enemies unnecesary enemies just to make the run a a little entertaining, i tried to waste the minimal ammount of time when attacking. There are some nices movements, like in stage 2-1 when i take all three enemies with two movements. So watch it. i'll try to improve it (i already make 2 runs of the game). try to tell me if i'm wrong or not when taking enemies for amusement. NOTE: the boss fight when i wait him, is because he moves too fast for me to go for it, but i think, that i have a better strategy to save time. This WIP completes the game. the rom that i used is: Ninja crusaders (u) Ninja Crusaders by Enrai in 5:27 VERSION 0.2 Ninja Crusaders by Enrai in 5:12

For a run, it seemed acceptable. Granted, it could use some optimization as is, but it looked ok in general. I have some questions about how you pass through enemies at some points and get shot without taking damage at others, but that is for later. The game, however, is terribly uninspired, and I don't think I could really bring myself to watch it for pleasure. While it is an action platformer, it is the most generic action plaftormer I can think of.

Of course, an optimization is needed, i already started the new run (i didn't cotinued it because i think of taking enemies for entertaining), anyway, i think that i could save several seconds as well ;)

if i get that response, it means that it's entertaining or impressive, I'll do it any time i can if that makes a richfull movie. (and it doesn't stop me too) we'll i'll also investigate for any usefull glitch or something to do this more dynamic or fast. then i guess that i'll be busy on this xD. i'm going to work on this.

Oh, i found something that will save like 2 minutes easily. Animal morphs will be included in the final version of the run so, I'll post it at soon as i finish it, and it'll be like 2 minutes or so faster. *EDIT finally i saved less than 1 minute...:S

Well, i'm almost there, the second WIP overcome the first, but i know that i can save a few seconds by changing a few things, so, please let me know what you think about the new WIP. Anyway i had this trouble: The movie doesn't seems to be accepted, because it doesn't start from "Power on" What i did was: *Pause the emulator and create the movie file From "Reset". *Power reset the emulator. *Advance one frame. *Make the currently save state, and start playing. I tough that this was the right way to record, but the site doesn't recognize it... :s someone can plz tell me the Safe and right way to do this? please. (please don't link to a site FAQ, tell me how YOU do it).

Before recording in FCEU, in the box that says "Record From:", make sure it says "Start". That's all there is to it.

Since this hasn't be a popular post (i think because of the game) this will be completed and improved practically as it's shown on the second WIP, so, I won't add more advancements on this thread, and i'll submit the movie this week, hope you guys like it.

(NOTE: This was supposed to be the game description for the submission form, so that is why I used tables and headers and stuff like that) This will explain aspects of the game that I will include. *Played on FCEU 0.98.15 *Uses no warps or passwords *Doesn't take damage *Aims for the fastest time *Single player mode I believe that being my first submission I’ll try to explain some aspects of the movie. !!!!Game Engine/Description *Ninja Crusaders is a straightforward platform game, it has a normal scrolling speed, similar to "Contra" series. But the game always slow you down when attacking, because of this, I tried to kill the minimal amount of enemies, and for the ones that I killed, I did it while in mid-air, because is the fastest way. (I may have killed some unnecessary enemies, but it's with the only purpose of entertain) __NOTE:__ you don't have a energy bar, if you're hit, you're dead. (this sucks...) *The game provides you two playing modes, this involves morphs, at start you control a ninja, and then you can morph into an animal (the animal depends on the weapon you're using). The weapons, description and his correlative transformations are: ||Weapon||Range||Hit Points||Animal|| |Shuriken|remote|1|Tiger| |Iron Claw|remote|1|Scorpion| |Bo|Meelee|4|Eagle| |Sword|Meelee|8|Dragon[#1]| [1]The Dragon is the only creature that is able to pass over everything (even enemies) but has a lifetime. When it's over Turns you back into a ninja and equip you with the shuriken. *Boss battles are very fast in this game, if you're equipped with the right weapon you can finish them in a matter of seconds. I'm going for every boss, except the 5-1, this is because he moves too fast for me to be safe, and his "arms" block my escape. __NOTE:__ in the boss fight of stage 3-2 I die, but since the enemy dies at the same time, nothing happens. !!!!The Movie *Well, after the description of the game, I guess that everyone will understand what's happening at every time. The only thing that I can add is that when I pass trough enemies, or projectiles without being hit, is because I found that being at top and lateral borders, the game doesn't recognize a collision event, so the lowest part of the character sprite can safely pass trough everything. *Even Knowing that when being an animal (like tiger or eagle) you move faster, you can actually lose time when transforming, because of the frames you waste when a morph takes place. Also, I didn't want to transform lately, because otherwise I’ll have to sacrifice my sword (I only did this in Stage 2-2 because going trough water waste __A LOT__ of time). I think that even without knowing the game, you'll like some aspects of the movie, like those parts when projectiles or fast enemies are a few pixels away from the ninja, those quick boss battles, the animal morphs, and the fact that this is a short movie that always have something to see, and of course, the game has decent music. I can also add that the little amount of rerecord count is because I played the game very several times when making the WIPS, and I almost know where to jump, every location of enemies and so on (last WIP's rerecord count is over 19k). Added to the next WIP: 1.-I'll try to die in every stage I can (qithout loosing time*) *This happens because of a glitch. 2.- Pass trough most of projectiles that I can, without lagging the game. 3.- Kill more enemies, in an amusing way. 4.- Make some coreography to avoid the boring art of the backgrounds :P 5.- Made some stupids things I guess. Well that's all... PS: Be nice, cheer me up, It's my first run ;)

May I ask if is worth to improve this WIP to his limits, and complete the TAS. I didn't had any response, so I will like to receive some opinions, about the WIP. (The second one, that includes morphs). I'm just asking if I should keep doing this project. These are points why this run worths to be completed. *There is none previous run of this game. *This game has an ending and several levels, so you can complete the game. (I mean this is not a Pointless game *The total lenght of the run is less than 5:15, so, is a short movie. *The run itself will include some "entertaining" aspects, such as deaths (that doesn't affect because of glitches),passing trough objects without receiving damage) , Those double jumps (made by precisely taping at a certain part of a platform) and some other quick scenes when killing enemies trough the stage. *The bosses fights are quick enough to be entertaining. *The two animal morphs, relax the spectator of seeing the ninja over and over, and the second morph (the dragon one) completes the stage in the quickest way possible (saving lots of time) by passing over every object. Well these are my reasons. Here's some aspects that you may consider as the "cons" of the movie. *The game isn't a popular or well know game. -Well, yes... it is not, but, being my first run I'd picked a easy game. That (for me) is the best way to earn experience on TASIng. Anyway I believe that this game have some good things too. *The graphic enviorement is far from acceptable. -Err... It's not a colorfull game, but have in mind that the art style used in this game points to realistic backgrounds, and alien enemies. And the NES having a 3 color per sprite pallete, doesn't allow to make them too much realistic either. Somehow yes, they can be better, but they're not as bad as they can be ;). *There're not too much dynamic movements, and the player get's killed if he takes any damage. -U_U Well this isn't kage you know :P, anyway I think that I made some good things on the run...But I'll give my best to improve this features on the final version ^_^. And the fact of being killed, well yes... it forces me to avoid damage, but I managed to make the run without loosing time when avoiding or killing enemies. *There's Lag! - ^o^ I glad to say that lag has been erradicated from further runs. I'm waiting comments... If you have any question, feel free to ask, this is what I'm looking for here ;)

So, uh, I was bored and stuff and found this game with the mega cool name and made a severely unoptimized 2-player run of it, ending at 5:55, which is... a lot slower than the 1 player run that Enrai got. Now I can't download his WIPs, so I dunno if 1 player is faster due to lower HP on the bosses and less time spent when morphing or if I just suck a lot. This run is unoptimized, but I wonder if it is 40 seconds unoptimized. Also bleh at me not using the Dragon in a better way. Eeeeither way any comments on this bad(ass) game? Weeeeeeeeee

You and I think alike when we're bored, because I've TAS:ed this some too. :) And after just watching 10 seconds I noticed a quite big possible improvement. It's possible to keep moving while still transforming to an animal. Not only does this allow you to keep moving to the right, it also allows you to be higher up in the air when transforming. I'll dig out some old .fcm showing this trick... ah, here: Click me! I don't know how much time this adds up to, but I'm guessing at least 10 seconds or so.

Yeah I found that out at around 4 - 1 or so :( Also, a shuriken should be picked up in 1 - 2 so that the players can go Tiger style after the shuriken in 2 - 1 Also how about hanging out online someday soon? >_>

Return Of The Tigers Still not optimal, but getting there. As for level 1 - 2, the Dragon should could will be activated later so the ninjas leave the level as Dragon, hence no morphing back. Using the Dragon in 1 - 2 probably saves time over going Tiger on that level, I'll have to figure that out later. The sword in 2 - 1 most very much likely won't save time. Ninjas move at the same speed as Dragon, therefore no Dragon in level 3 - 2, but instead the Dragon is used to kill the boss. Also since the level ends when the first player hits the door, one player most likely should slow down a bit and kill as much as possible to reduce lag, without ever forcing the first player to stop.
