Post subject: VBA rerecording 19 (GB MODE) has really bad timing.

I was just flipping through the source code to VBA rerecording 19, and saw that many operations which take time on the GBC end up taking no emulated time on the emulator. This can result in VBA removing many frames of lag. I'm just wondering about whether slower movies created with VBA rerecording 20 should obsolete movies created with 19. Yeah, this could easily be part of the 'certain bugs work on VBA v19 and not v20' problem. As it is, I am in favour of v20 movies obsoleting v19 ones, but I realise it is a difficult question for a judge to answer when considering acceptance. I would guess there would need to be other, sufficient incentive to post a new movie than simply being on a newer emulator with an incomparable frame count.

VBA 20's development introduced some new glitches: Bad frame advancing on GB games Another frame advance issue Frame count updating SGB Border graphical glitch Inability to distinguish emulator versions in header data Additionally, it has different timing, which we are being told is more correct. Not to discredit the developers, but SNES9x 1.51's new timing is (according to my admittedly un-bulletproof tests) actually less accurate. How do we know this method for VBA is more accurate? VBA 20 seemed to be put together quickly without testing and such, and was just accepted as the new one to use. Perhaps this wasn't the case. However, due to glitches like this, I don't feel like using the version, and that's why I've continued to use VBA 19 on my TASes. My point is, these bugs should be worked out before VBA 20 is treated as the "official" version to submit movies with. Until then, leave it in beta for people to test until the kinks are worked out.

Jag håller med JXQ. Also VBA20 desynced my AoS-run (Which isn't a GB-issue, but bleh at posting this in the New VBA-Download-topic and increase my post count) which is awesome and another reason not to work on it and stick to CotM I guess.

I don't think your problem is newly introduced because I've met the same (or just similar, or related?) problem before.
