Caught the start of this show and noticed a mention about videogames played really fast. I rushed to get a tape to use for the VCR, which was good as my suspicions confirmed they were talking about tool-assisted runs. It was featured for Sarah Lane's "Site of the Night" segment, although it seemed less like "Site of the Night" and more "Watch Sarah fumble with the Famtasia emulator". I suppose it can be a bit forgiven since it's a live show, but they didn't really get around to featuring the actual site. They did cover the save-state and slowdown parts of it however. Fortunately, because TSS realize that mistakes can happen, they have daily show notes which help cover what they missed. Right now, there isn't much to see except a simple link. (leads to the WhyandHow page, hooray!) There should be more at 9PM EST according to the current page, since I assume that's when they finish compiling the stuff they didn't cover. The link to that episodes show notes is available here: http://www.g4techtv.com/screensavers/episodes/3514/Nichelle_Nichols_Laser_Cutter_Art_LAN_Party.html I will be encoding the TV segment later on in the night, once the VCR is no longer required. Also, those of you who receive the channel but weren't watching can catch reruns (at least on g4techtv Canada) at 10pm and 1am EST. [edit: in the US it appears to only rerun once, at noon the next day]

WTF? Do they realise they linked to a site with about 800 NES ROMs available for download?

Dang, that was one of the things I wanted to mention in my post too. Some kind of "also a link to a list of nes roms :o" thing. But yeah, TSS are kinda lax about these gray area illegality things.

Sigh...I just lost a lot of respect for Sarah. Guess she didn't read the disclaimer too closely.

I'm waiting your movie file because I don't watch TV so often and very rarely English channels(sorry).

I gained respect for Sarah because she noticed something fishy! I bet a lot of people wouldn't! And what does that radio site have to do with NES games?

Maybe people should have taken Mister Dan more seriously when he complained about the inadequacies of your disclaimers. :p

What's wrong with the disclaimer? We don't want to include a novel at beginning of movie just because certain people complain or don't understand how these speedrun are done. Right now, it's supposed to be clear. In fact, it is clear.

Maybe this is the 100th time someone has tried to make this argument.

No, what you need to do is to start calling the movies "Fake and Cheated Video Edits". People would understand that term.

Hehe, I was partially joking with my comment. I just downloaded a vid, and basically all it said was "tool-assisted" and had a link to the site. That is far from "clear" Phil, but I don't really have a problem with it. Most lazy people (a high % of viewers sadly) aren't going to read a paragraph-long explanation anyway so a link to the How/Why page is sufficient. It's too bad that the How/Why page has some inaccuracies though.

That seems to be true, but how is it related to G4TechTV?

Was I not seeing things, or does the Chuck Rock movie have no subtitles at all? -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

This still has nothing to do with G4TechTV's ScreenSavers, but you do have a point. I didn't notice any subtitles either. Phil encoded it, so he would have the answer.

Oh, I'll talk about G4TechTV's ScreenSavers: Where the heck is the download?

I just saw it mentioned and thought maybe the increased traffic was the reason I couldn't access it for a couple days? I dunno, it seemed pertinent at the time.
